Threats
Adrian's POV I sat in the car, waiting patiently for Miguel to get done with the brief introduction, but it seemed he was taking things too far. I had to stop him. The expression on her face when she set her eyes on me was indeed priceless. Astonished at the way she looked at me, I couldn't help but wonder if she had thought it was all going to pass away like that. If she had thought so, then she was dreaming and needed to wake up. As the prideful man that I was, I sauntered right to where my assistant stood. "Hello, Mrs. Gonzalez" I greeted, emphasizing the name so she could realize what she had gotten herself into. Her silence made the atmosphere awkward, and a moment passed before I realized that we weren't going to make any progress if I didn't take the first step. "Miguel" I called, walking towards the door and pushing it open. "Let's go in." "Alright, sir" Miguel replied and followed me in. It was then she snapped out of her daze and tried to block our path, but it was already too late. I made sure I sat comfortably on the sofa before putting my full concentration on her. "You can't just claim to be someone I don't know and barge into my house like that" She shouted, her bloodshot and her face etched with anger. "I don't know who...." Before she could complete that sentence, I waved the marriage certificate before her eyes, and she kept shut immediately. "You forced me to marry you at the courthouse yesterday" I began, my voice low and firm. "I've thought about it and I've accepted my fate. So, as the legal wife of the Gonzalez family, you'll have to live with me. I came here to take you home with me." "No, no, no" She refused, shooking her head vehemently. "I'm sorry, but I wasn't myself when I did that. I was hurt and I was searching for a way to vent my anger...." "So you chose me," I said, cutting her off again. "You chose me to vent your anger and forced me to get married at a time I never planned to." "It was a mistake, and I'm sorry" She cried out and clenched her fist. "We could sort this out without having to do things this way." I chuckled amusingly and said. "The only way you can make up for this is by taking responsibility for your actions." She couldn't utter a word for a while, and I didn't plan on giving her the chance to refute my words. Most certainly, I had come prepared to win the case. "Being forced into marriage affected my mental and emotional state" I continued. "You'll have to remain as my wife till death do us part." "No way!" She screamed. "I didn't sign up for this." I waved the marriage certificate before her eyes again. "You did. You signed up for it with your actions and hands." "But I already told you I wasn't myself when it happened" Luisa argued, tears welling up in her eyes. "I'm sorry about your health. I can pay you to get yourself treated." Without warning, Miguel burst into laughter, clutching his stomach hard. I let him laugh all he wanted until I detected the displeased look on Luisa's face. "That's enough, Miguel" I ordered. "Yes, sir" Miguel replied. "I'm sorry. It's just so funny how you believe you can pay off the money bag himself." "Miguel" I called, and glared hard at him. He shut his mouth up and sat back properly on his chair. I returned my gaze to Luisa, who was drawing an imaginary circle with her toes. "Luisa" I called, and she looked at me. "You're coming home with me now. As your husband, I have the right to make such demands." "Mr. Gonzalez, you don't have to keep dwelling on being forced. We can still annul the marriage since nothing has happened between us" Luisa argued, her voice full of urgency. "We can go to the courthouse now, and we'll both be free." "I disagree" I retorted almost immediately. "I want us to remain married." "And I'm saying it was all a mistake" Luisa shot back. "Annulment is still an option." Damnit, I cursed inwardly. She was quite stubborn. I wanted an obedient and submissive wife, but I guessed she could be tamed. I didn't want to use my ultimate card to deal with the situation, but since she was so bent on annulling the marriage, I was going to have to use it. "If you refuse to move in with me, I'll have no choice but to call the cops on you" I stated, my tone full of conviction. "You'll rot in jail for your actions. I'm sure that won't be good for your career." Yeah, I had made my findings, so I knew she was a TV personality and a model. That was another problem. The Gonzalez Family detested picking a wife from the entertainment industry, but that was then. I was the one in control now, so the choice was mine to make. Luisa stared at me for a while with a blank expression on her face. I could tell she was thinking about my threats carefully. "Unless you agree, you're going to spend the rest of your life in jail" I added with a tone of finality. "You don't have to do this" Luisa pleaded, and clasped her hands. "What about my career? What would people think of me?" "You don't have to worry about that" I replied. "I'll protect you from them. I don't make such promises unless I have the power, which I do. Your safety is guaranteed and your fame will remain intact." "No, I don't want that" Luisa disagreed, and inhaled sharply. "I don't want the public to know about us. I want us to keep our marriage a secret from the public. If you can accept that, then I'll accept my role as your wife."AdmirerAdrian's POV"I'm sorry but I want a divorce" Those words stung me so deeply. The urge to rip her into shreds was great.A divorce? We had been together for months. Wasn't the period enough for her to grow feelings for me?The thought of the answer being negative fueled my anger."I'd rather lock you up in a cell than let you leave" I yelled, letting it all out.Over my rotten corpse. She looked at me with fear in her widened eyes. Guilt rose in my heart but it was only for a moment."Your reasons are just an excuse. Try again" I added, snorting.A tear fell down her cheek. "I have the right to decide what I want for myself" She retorted, her voice trembling."But you can choose to go to jail" I shot back, struggling to remain calm. "You'd better listen to me."I couldn't dare to look into her bloodshot eyes, so I turned my back on her."Come downstairs for dinner after you're done freshening up" I ordered coldly. "Don't try to disobey me.”With that, I stormed out of the ro
A DivorceLuisa's POV"I thought I'd lost you" His soft voice rang endlessly in my ears as we exited the building.I couldn't respond. Not because I wasn't as worried as he was but because I didn't know what to say.The warmth emanating from his arms gave me goosebumps. The feeling in my chest was scary."Let's go home" He whispered into my ear.It was then that I realized we had gotten to the car."What about Valerie?" I blurted out, hoping to meet his gaze.It held something dark. Something I couldn't phantom. He was unresponsive for a moment."She's right where she belongs," he finally replied, his smile dripping with malicious intent. Forget about her. You won't be seeing her again."I shivered at the sound of that, but he didn't seem open to more questions.I kept shut and followed his lead.We got into the car, sitting in the backseat. Javier sat behind the wheel. The ride was eerily silent. I guessed everyone was engrossed in their thoughts.Who would have thought the party wou
Chapter 116: JealousyGeorge's POV"There's nothing here" Javier let out a deep scowl. "Are you playing with us right now?"I felt insulted. I wasn't going to let it slide."Ugh.. says who couldn't find his way out of a woman's grasp" I scoffed.Javier smirked, his eyes narrowed. "At least, I didn't try to sweet-talk her.""You....""They were here" Adrian cut me off, his cold voice commanding silence."Look at the bloodstains" He added, and my eyes followed his.My gaze fell on the trails of blood leading to a corner that led to God knows where."Tch.. that tech guy of yours is quite dumb. What if the enemies were after them?" I snarled, indirectly speaking to Adrian. It was quite rare to get the chance to throw shades at him.He didn't even spare me a glance."Let's follow it" He ordered, and led the way.*Tch.. very soon*I snorted inwardly, throwing daggers from behind. The trail of blood led us to a narrow pathway.I badly wanted to set my eyes on Luisa. She was the one I was afte
A Life SavedLuisa's POV"He has lost a lot of blood" I cried, my bloodshot eyes fixed on the unconscious man lying in my arms."He's pale and cold" I added.James gritted his teeth, his face etched with frustration, and his fist clenched in rage."I can see that clearly," he snarled. It wouldn't make any difference if we all got blown up together with this building.""What?!" I exclaimed in shock, my eyes filled with disbelief.James shrugged. "We won't survive if the Big Boss and the Second Young Master fail. Their failure means our death. We would die with him."Fear gripped my body.Death?Oh, no way!I wasn't ready to die. Not when I had debts to settle."Isn't there a way we can treat him?" I questioned, ignoring the disgust on his face. "We need to stop him from losing more blood."James clicked his tongue, his eyes scanning the area."There should be but just know that if we get caught by Valerie's men again, she's going to end our lives" James declared bluntly. He must have f
Shot deadAdrian's POV"Tch... You won't understand because you have never loved anyone in your life" I fired, frowning.I was sure my words had hit a soft spot, but I could apologize later.I got to the table and picked up the papers. I grabbed a pen as I scanned the paper. One thing was certain - signing the papers was like signing a death wish. The moment I tried to sign the paper, a familiar voice echoed."Why sign away our family's fortune when you could sign it over to me?" The voice snarled and my hands froze in mid-air.I recognized that voice."Huh...what are you doing here?" I heard Javier ask."I don't think I owe you an explanation. It's a public place after all" The intruder replied.I slowly tilted my head, my gaze falling on the man standing by the door.I wished I could wipe the stupid smirk off his face, but there were other things to worry about."Why are you here, George?" I asked coldly, watching his every move.He smirked. "It's good to see you like this. Instead
Help George's POV "Melinda, can you stay right here and wait for me? I'll be back before you know it" I assured the purple masked lady standing right beside me, smiling sheepishly. I scoffed inwardly, while maintaining a perfunctory smile. After trying so much to make her understand that she was just an escort, she still felt she was someone of importance to me. Well, no one should blame me just in case she cries because of a broken heart. Unfortunately, I didn't like plump ladies. Her lack of height also contributed to the problem. Her blue eyes were attractive, but I only saw her as a cute baby. She fiddled with strands of her blonde hair as she stared at me seductively. I sighed deeply, wondering how I ended up choosing her instead of hiring a real escort. Probably because she was my assistant and someone I could trust to have my back at the masquerade ball. The main purpose of my attendance was to keep an eye on Luisa and Adrian. The fact that my dear brother chose
