After I had talked to Breed, I called Brian. It rang but he didn’t pick up. I shrugged and went home.

I spent all night thinking about what Don and Lois might be up to. I knew as long as Don was involved, something bad was being planned. And if I guessed right, against Jan’s family.

They won’t succeed on my watch. I thought.

I was up early the next morning and got ready for work. Before leaving, I called a delivery service and asked for chocolates and flowers to be delivered to Jan at work.

I got to work and went straight to Brian office.

“Kev you are in early.” He said. “How did it go with your mom and dad?”

“Better than I thought. They were understanding.”

“And Rita?”

“I made the greedy tramp an offer I knew she would refuse.”

He laughed when I told him.

“So are you expecting a bitter custody battle?” He asked.

“I am, and I will handle it when it comes. Now to why I am here. Guess who I saw yesterday?”
