Chapter 10

Amelia's heart skipped a beat. She turned around, her eyes wide with worry. She turned around to see the nurse who had been assigned to Andrew's care.

"Is everything okay? Has something happened to Andrew?" she asked, her voice trembling.

The nurse shook her head. "No, I'm sorry to say there hasn't been any improvement."

Amelia's heart sank, but at least there was still hope. "Thank you for letting me know," she said, her voice soft.

As the nurse turned to leave, Amelia took a deep breath and opened the door to Andrew's room. She walked over to his bed, looking down at his still form.

He lay there, so still, so silent, that it was hard to believe that he was still alive. His face was pale and peaceful, and his chest rose and fell slowly as the machines beeped in a steady rhythm.

The past few days had been a whirlwind of emotions, and she didn't know how much longer she could handle the constant worry and fear.
