The Devil left me Stranded

Damon finished going through the files he needed to go through and signed the documents too. He was tempted to sort other paper works too with the thought of finishing them soon.

"I shouldn't waste time on these, I should be done before I know it." He concluded within himself. "Abandoning these today will only be a heap of work for me tomorrow. Right."

And then...

He remembered he left Megan all alone in the car. "I told her I won't stay long but here I am, getting myself buried in works. I guess she will at least understand if I manage to explain things to her." He successfully convinces himself, so as not to be eaten up by guilt. "I would be as fast as I can."

Barely spending up to ten minutes, Damon was already buried in what he was busy with not remembering any other thing aside from the files and documents before him.

After a couple of minutes, almost resolving to an hour, Damon suddenly dropped the paperwork with him as he reached for the telephone next to him but then, he withd
