LOGINLet's get revenge on those that hurt you”
Was the message I received the next morning. I stared at the message in my phone, my mind was racing with curiosity. I decided to take a chance and agreed to meet the mysterious sender. The response came quickly, suggesting a high-end bar as the meeting spot. As I walked into the bar, I scanned the room with my eyes adjusting to the dim lighting. That's when I saw him _ Ethan Blackwood, sitting at the bar, sipping a glass of scotch. His piercing gaze met mine and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Ethan Blackwood was known for being ruthless in the business world and charming in the social scene. Who wouldn't know Ethan Blackwood? He stood up with a fluid and confident movement and walked towards where I was standing “You look stunning,” he said with a deep voice sending a flutter through my chest. I gave a shy, sly smile. I couldn't help but notice his handsome features. His piercing blue eyes, his sharp jawline and prominent cheekbones which gave him a strong angular face that was both captivating and intimidating. As we sipped our drinks, the conversation flowed effortlessly. He had a great sense of humor and I found myself laughing for the first time in a few days. But beneath the surface of our witty conversation, I could feel a sharp, calculating gaze from him. “Let's have a contract marriage” Ethan suddenly blurted out as he leaned forward and looked straight into my eyes. I stared at him in confusion feeling shivers run down my spine. “A contract marriage? What do you mean?” I said. “ I have been given an ultimatum by my mum to get married, in a bid to clear the rumor about my sexuality or risk losing everything to my brother Lucas"He said and leaned backward, still having that calculating gaze in his eyes. I listened to him with wrapped attention “Now, I love my brother and can do anything for him, but this company is my years of hard work and I just can't give it up without a fight” he continued… “It would be a marriage on paper only and nothing is expected of you against your wish. We will sign a contract outlining the terms of the agreement. You will receive a generous reward but in return, you will play the role of my wife in public” I stared at Ethan as I considered his proposal. I thought about my step sister and mother who had always belittled me. Marrying Ethan Blackwood, a billionaire with power and influence would be the ultimate revenge. My step-sister and mother would be green with envy and I would finally get the satisfaction of seeing them eat their words. “I will marry you Ethan, but I want something in return” I finally responded in a cold tone. “You will make my family jealous. I want them to know that am marrying a man who is more powerful and successful than Harrison would ever be, I want them to regret underestimating me” “I like your spirit. I think we can come to a beneficial agreement. Let's make it official tomorrow.” Ethan said as he stood up for a handshake to seal our agreement. As I shook hands with Ethan, I felt a sense of satisfaction wash over me. I was going to get my revenge and I would do it in style. * The next day, I stood outside the courtroom, my heart racing with a mix of emotion. I was going to marry a man I barely know. A man that had proposed a contract marriage to me. The thought of it was both thrilling and terrifying. “Ready?” Ethan whispered behind me I nodded while taking a deep breath. I was doing it for myself and for my own reasons. The ceremony was brief with a judge officiating the proceedings. My hands trembled as I placed the ring on Ethan's finger and he did the same. The judge pronounced us husband and wife and Ethan had a hint of a smile playing on his list. “Why was he smiling? What's on his mind?” I thought to myself I felt a sense of detachment as if I was observing the scene from outside my body. “This wasn't a traditional marriage after all. It was a business arrangement, a means to my end” I thought to myself. When the judge finished speaking, Ethan leaned in and pressed his lips on mine. The kiss was brief and chaste but I felt a spark of electricity run through my body. I pulled back immediately and for a moment, we just stared at each other. The courthouse wedding was a far cry from the grand wedding I had envisioned with Harrison and it made me feel a certain way. I pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand. I was married now and I had a role to play. I would play the part of Ethan's wife to perfection and get my revenge while at it.I woke up with numerous cravings swirling inside meI turned to Ethan, and saw him still sleeping. Normally I would wake him up but I felt the urge to let him be.I began to think about how I want more of him since I got pregnant.“Could it be the pregnancy hormone?” I wondered to myself with a smile creeping onto my face. It felt like my feelings for him had intensified, amplifying my desire for his presence and affection. I slipped out of the bed and took a quick shower after which I headed downstairs, to be greeted by the sight of Ma Jane who looked up with a warm smile She immediately walked over to me, wrapping me in a tight , ‘I miss you’ hug.“Avery, I bought you your favorite meal” she announced, stretching her hand to reveal a beautifully arranged plate of food and my eyes widened in delightJust then, Catherine emerged from another room“Janet, Avery is well taken care of. You don’t need to bring her food like she’s starving” Catherine playfully saidMa Jane chuckled and s
At noon, Ethan came to my office with a bright smile plastered on his face“How’s my pregnant wife doing?” He askedI chuckled softly, rolling my eyes “It’s only been a month, Ethan”“I know” he said, stepping closer“What matters is that my wife is pregnant”With that, he leaned in and planted a soft kiss on my lips.Ethan pulled back slightly as he looked straight into my eyes“So, how are you doing?”“Well, aside from the morning sickness and occasional weakness, I’m fine” I said“You should have stayed home” he said with a tender voice“You don’t have to work, my princess”Before I could respond, Ethan lifted me up from the seat with ease, taking my position behind the desk I laughed, surprised by the sudden playfulness. He began to gently play with my hair which gave me a comforting feeling.Suddenly, Ethan looked at me with a playful glint in his eyes and whispered“Come on, let’s go out for lunch” he suggestedI agreed and before I knew it, he lifted me up effortlessly makin
I managed to say weaklyEthan heard me and instantly stopped in his tracks. He lifted me up, cradling me as he rushed towards the already awaiting ambulance My vision began to blur but just before I slipped away, I felt Ethan grip on my hands tightened “Avery please look at me,” he said, but I couldn’t help but succumb to my unconsciousnessThose were the last words I heard before everything faded awaySoon, faint sound drifted in and out“She’s regaining consciousness” a voice said and suddenly, I opened my eyesI found myself surrounded by a crowd of concerned faces. It was looking like i had been unconscious for sometimeJust then, I felt Ethan pull me into his warm embrace“Avery, thank goodness you’re awake” he whisperedAs I looked at Ethan, I could see the concern etched on his face“Please be careful, she’s not strong enough” a nurse saidI began to remember all that had happened. Looking around, I noticed Josh, Ma Jane, dad and the rest of the Blackwood family had gathered
The stranger let out another bout of hysterical laughter, that echoed menacingly in the room then he began walking towards meI felt a surge of fear as I was still held tightly. The leaders gaze shifted to me as he approached and my heart racedHe raised my face with a firm hand, forcing me to meet his eyes“What a beautiful young lady” he said“I’m sure you’d want her to be part of my troop of women” he paused“Or better still, want her dead,” he announced loudly “Wait!” Ethan interjected.“I’ll sign the paper”The man turned back to look at Ethan with a smug face“Women_ a man’s weakness” he said with mockery in his toneThe document was brought to Ethan. As he began to sign on different pages, I could see a smile creeping onto the man’s faceBut then Ethan paused as he was about to sign the last paper. It looked like he was signing away something very important“What could that be?” I thought to myself as fear gripped meI glanced at Lucas, who sat helplessly as the scene unfolde
could feel my heart race with every new notification, hoping Ethan and Lucas were safeEthan: “I have been shot”In that moment, a wave of panic washed through me, flooding my mind with negative emotions, I felt a cold sweat break out across my skinI quickly left my room and snuck out from the back exitAs I stepped outside, I spotted Micheal in the car“Get in!” He saidMicheal drove with the speed of light toward the unknown directionEventually, he stopped in front of a scary old building. I rushed to alight from the car but Micheal quickly dragged me back “We need to be very careful, this place is more dangerous than you think” He warnedI trailed behind Micheal as my heart pumped in my chest. Micheal began opening different doors, carefully checking each one in hopes of finding Ethan and LucasI could feel my anxiety growing with every empty room we passedFinally we approached a heavily guarded room. Michael’s expression shifted and without a word, he sprang into action, t
During breakfast, Ethan’s phone suddenly buzzed as a message came in. He glanced at the screen and his expression shifted“I need to head to the construction site right away” he said, looking like he was trying to hide the brewing tensionAs I contemplated the reason for such an emergency, Lucas' phone buzzed as well. He glanced down at the message and gave an expression indicating that his attention was also needed at the construction siteThe atmosphere in the room shifted instantly as they both exchanged concerned glances at each other and they got up almost immediate I trailed behind Ethan and he stopped in his tracks turning to look at me“I’m going” I stated, firmly and he nodded, holding me protectively as we made our way to the carWhen we arrived at the entrance, I was unprepared for the scene that awaited usA distressed expression was written on the faces of the workers that gathered there. An uneasy feeling settled in my stomach as I took in the sight“What’s going on?”E

As I settled into the plush seat of the car, the world outside began to blur into a tapestry of familiar sound and sights. The chauffeur drove smoothly through the bustling streets, but my mind was elsewhere, constantly drifting back to thoughts of Ethan. Even the small details felt heavy with memo
