“Ms Pierce, I'm sorry but Emily and Harrison eloped last night”

My heart sank as a guest whispered the devastating truth in my ear with a look of pity on her face.

I had spent months planning every detail of our wedding from the intricate lace on my gown to the delicate flowers on the tables. I was excited to finally start my life with the man who I had loved all my life, the man I thought I knew better than anyone else.

But as the minute ticked by, I realized something was wrong. There was no sign of Harrison. I felt a sense of unease but I waved it aside thinking he was just running late.

When I finally learnt the truth, my heart raced in confusion and disbelief swirled through me. I could barely process what had just been said to me.

Harrison_ the man that was supposed to be my husband had left me at the altar and is set to marry my step-sister.

It was like a punch to the gut, a harsh reminder that, I, Avery Pierce wasn't good enough. The pain and humiliation were overwhelming. I was left standing alone at the altar. My dreams of a perfect wedding and life were shattered.

The days that followed were a blur of tears and heartbreak. I struggled to come to terms with what had just happened. The betrayal was just too much for me to handle. I had trusted Harrison with everything, and he had it all thrown away.

The news of my humiliation spread like wildfire and I became the subject of social media gossip. People couldn't get enough of the juicy story and my name was on everybody's lips

“ Bride abandoned on the altar for her own step-sister”

“The beautiful bride and her wedding day disaster”

“She's so stupid for not knowing her fiancee was cheating in her”

The comments were hurtful, but what hurt more was the realization that I had been blind to Harrison's true nature. When I think about it now, the realization that I was so invested in the relationship and ignored the signs that something was off. He became distant and emotionally unavailable and I kept hoping things could get better.

I thought I knew him but it turns out… Harrison was a f*cking a*shole

          “f*uck! I feel so stupid”

I muttered to myself while grabbing the pillow in a bid to suffocate myself.

Vivian, my step-mother. The woman who had brought chaos and drama into my life. She was my mother's best friend. I remembered the day she married my father, how she had swept into our lives with her charm and beauty. But beneath her polished exterior, she was manipulative and controlling, always getting what she wanted no matter the cost. When my father died, she took over his properties and vast empires without giving me access to any. And then, there was emily her daughter, my step-sister. Both of them were like two peas in a pod, always scheming and plotting.

As I thought about vivan, emily and harrison, I felt a surge of anger and resentment. I felt the need to revenge, the need to stand up for myself and get back all that was taken from me,the need to prove to everyone that I was worth more than just a jilted bride.

“Please dear, you need to eat something” Ma Janet said.

I looked up at Ma Janet, the kind maid who had been with my family for years. She was standing in the doorway with a concerned expression on her face.

“I don't have much of an appetite, Ma Janet,” I said while trying to smile weakly.

Ma Janet came over to me and put a gentle hand on my shoulder.

“You've been through a lot, child. You need to keep your strength up. Let me  make you some soup”

I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. Ma Janet had always been like a mother to me. I lost my mother in a car accident at a very tender age.

I took a deep breath and tried to shake off the feeling of despair that had been weighing me down.

Ma janet came back with a steaming bowl of soup, and the aroma wafted up to me making my stomach growl slightly. I took a tentative spoonful, and the warm liquid slid down my throat, comforting me.

“Thank you, ma Janet,” I said, smiling slightly

She smiled back and patted my hand.

“You're welcome, dear. Now eat up and try to feel a little better” she said as she exited the room.

Ethan and I stepped through the front door, taking in the familiar sight of the living room.Catherine and Lucas were already there waiting with a warm smile as if they knew about our arrival.“Welcome back, children” Catherine said with a warm hug that landed perfectly on both of us. Ethan let his back pack drop and returned mom's hug.Catherine's eyes twinkled with mischief and curiosity as she whispered“How was it?” she asked and I set out to give full details but then her eyes fell on the glint of the engagement ring. She gasped and further exclaimed as she reached out to grab my hand before I could even steady them. Her touch was quick but careful as if I was carrying a precious gem. When she looked up, her eyes were radiant and she pulled me into another embrace.“Big bro is getting married” Lucas blurted out“A…gain” he added jokingly. He didn't bother hiding how thrilled he was.Catherine's head tilted toward him with a playful scold that tugged at her facial features“Lucas

I looked in the closet for a change of clothes and came across the lingerie I came with. It suddenly occurred to me that I haven't worn it. “This would be the perfect time” I thought as a naughty smile crept to my lips.I looked at myself in the mirror and gave a satisfied nod.I walked over to the closet entrance where I struck a pose as if I was in front of the camera.Ethan looked up and took a passing glance and then returned the glance back at me with a mischievous smile when he saw what I was wearing.“Wow! My wife is also a naughty girl” He said with a mischievous smile on his lips.I walked over to him in a perfect stride“I am not your wife but your fiancee”I said, my voice a bit louder than a whisper.“Whatever you say, love. Come make me feel good” Ethan said, urging me to come closer.I walked over to him, moving my legs across him“As you wish” I whispered in his ears, earning a gasp from him.I began planting butterfly kisses from his ear to every corner of his face t

It was out last night in this place and I didn't want all these to end. Over here, there's no worries, Just me and Ethan enjoying the blissfulness of each other.“Love, are you okay” Ethan asked as he came out of the bathroom with his hair dripping wetI nodded“Am fine”“Here..” Ethan said as he handed over a beautiful dress made of gold petals to me“Ethan, where are we going?” I asked“It's a surprise” he whispered as he brought out a shoe and suit. I knew he was up to something and my curiosity got the better of me.I hurriedly dressed up, packing my hair in a tight bun. Its a tight dress that accentuated my curves. I looked in the mirror with a satisfied look “Shall we?” Ethan's voice echoed from behind “Just like always, it's a surprise” Ethan said as he pulled out a piece of clothing and tied my eyes“Just follow my lead” Ethan said and i obeyed.I felt him driving an open vehicle inside the woods. He came to a stop and led me to a place after which he pulled out the blindfol

“listeneing…” I said, urging for him to continue “Then the paparazzis did their thing” he concluded “Okay, I believe you” I said, cupping his face unto my palm “Next question..” he blurted out in a sarcastic tone and I chuckled “Why do you love me?” I asked and the room fell into an unexplained silence “There was a spark in my eyes from the moment I saw you. You ignited something in me, Avery. Something spectacular and till now, I still don't know the reason behind it” “Wait.. wasn't the meeting at the restaurant the first day we ever saw?” I asked curiously “Nahhh…” “I was the stranger you bumped into at my NGO. You were in such a hurry to attend the meeting that you didn't stop to look at the handsome guy before you” “You were that guy?” I asked as I could remember everything clearly “I asked around and I was told, you were only volunterrring for a week and that was your last day. I asked Jenkins to do the background check and it turns out you were set to marry Harris

I woke up on the bed after our seemingly rough exercise, then I realized Ethan must have brought me upstairs“Where is he?” I thought to myself“Ethan!” I called sout“Ethan!”“Over here”he said. I went down following the sound of his voice to one of the rooms.I opened it and was in awe of what I saw. There he was, soaked in the pool. There was no roof and so the stars and moon were visible“Come o, come soak in with me” he said“Give me a minute” I said as I ran back to the bedroomI came back feeling Ethan's eyes everywhere around me“What is he looking at “ I thought to myselfI sat at the edge of the pool with just my legs dipped in water. But Ethan still wouldn't get his eyes off me“Why do you keep staring at me?” I asked“You're so beautiful, love” he said as he swarmed towards me. He wrapped me around his huge body as we both looked at the stars. It was a great sight to behold. Soon, Ethan shifted his focus to me again “Love, do you know what you do to a man when you wear

Ethan stopped in his tracks on seeing another swing. He pulled me in a way I can lie on him. We stayed there for a while, enjoying each other's silence. At that moment, my mind drifted off to the life awaiting us after this vacation. “How will Ethan be able to convince the share holders?” “How do I navigate through being the CEO of a modelling agency, when there is still a lot to know about being a model” These thoughts ran through my mind but I decided to keep it aside and just enjoy the moment. “What's on your mind?” Ethan asked unexpectedly “Nothing. I was just thinking of the life that awaits us after this vacation” I admitted Ethan pulled me closer such that I could feel the heat emanating from him that kept me warm. “Love you need to trust me. I have it all sorted out” he replied ”okay, Ethan” I replied, although not fully convinced about the outcome “When did my girlfriend become this unromantic “ he teased “Huh!” I asked surprisingly “What happened to calling me
