The question hung in the air, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. I felt my breath caught up in my throat as I processed his words.

“I….” I struggled for words

“You don't have to answer, if you're not ready” Ethan cut in looking disappointed

“I love you Ethan. I've fallen for you in ways I didn't expect.”

A smile broke across Ethan's face “I love you too, Avery. You're my perfect obsession”

In that moment, everything else faded away_ the noise of the city and the drama of the gala. All that matters was the connection we shared and the love that blossomed between us.
