Blood on his Hands

The door banged open like thunder splitting the night, and I froze where I stood by the window. My heart hammered against my ribs, and the glass of water I had been holding slipped through my fingers, shattering across the polished floor. I didn’t even hear it break; all I could see was Alexander.

Blood.

It was everywhere. Splattered across his white shirt, smeared over his jaw, darkening his hands. His chest rose and fell in heaving breaths, as if each inhale was a war he hadn’t finished fighting. His eyes—those ruthless eyes—were darker than the night behind him, colder than I’d ever seen them.

I swallowed hard, every nerve in my body screaming at me to run, to back away. But I couldn’t. My feet refused to move, chained to the ground by the sight of him.

“Alexander…” My voice trembled, soft, fragile.

He didn’t answer right away. His gaze swept the room, sharp and searching, until it landed on me. For a moment, he looked like he didn’t recognize me, like the storm inside him was too

  • The Billionaire's secret baby bride    What remains after the Storm

Isabella's POV The world after Alexander’s collapse became soundless — as though time had been stripped bare, leaving only silence and static. The sirens had faded. The paramedics had come and gone. I remembered flashes — hands prying me away from him, voices shouting orders, someone saying he still had a pulse — but it all blurred into one cold, senseless fog. That was two days ago. Now, I sat in the corner of the hospital room, staring at the rhythmic beep of the heart monitor beside his bed. It pulsed slow and steady, a cruel reminder that he was somewhere between life and death — trapped in a place I couldn’t reach. His face looked peaceful, almost too peaceful, like the storm inside him had finally quieted. But peace had never belonged to Alexander Leclair. He was all fire and shadows, built to fight, built to burn.I didn’t move for hours. The chair was hard, the fluorescent lights unkind, but none of it mattered. What mattered was the man lying motionless under white sheets, h

  • The Billionaire's secret baby bride    The Edge of Surrender

Isabella's POV The storm outside hadn’t stopped since dawn. It clawed at the windows of the safehouse, wind howling through the cracks like a wounded beast. Inside, the tension was thicker than the cold air pressing against the glass. Every second felt like waiting for a match to fall into a puddle of gasoline.Alexander paced the narrow living room, his shirt half-unbuttoned, jaw tight. The shadows under his eyes betrayed sleepless nights — and fury barely held back. I sat on the couch, clutching the blanket that smelled faintly of smoke and him.He stopped suddenly.“Why didn’t you tell me, Isabella?” His voice was low, dangerous. “You went to meet Vincent alone. After everything—”“I didn’t plan it,” I cut in, my tone sharper than I meant. “He found me, Alex. What was I supposed to do? Run? Scream? That would’ve gotten both of us killed.”He ran a hand through his hair, letting out a bitter laugh. “You think I care if he kills me? What I can’t stand is him touching you. Talking to

(Isabella’s POV)We ran until my lungs felt like fire.Branches clawed at my arms, mud splashed my legs, and my heartbeat wouldn’t slow down no matter how far we went. Alexander didn’t look back once. His hand gripped mine so tightly that I wasn’t sure if he was keeping me close or keeping himself from falling apart. The forest thinned. The light changed. And for the first time in hours, I saw the horizon.“Wait,” I gasped. “Alexander—stop.”He turned, chest heaving, eyes still burning from everything that happened. Blood streaked down his sleeve, drying fast. He didn’t seem to notice.“We can’t stop,” he said. “Not yet.”“Leclair’s dead.”He shook his head. “Dead men still have soldiers.”I took a step closer. “Then what? We keep running forever?”He didn’t answer. Just looked at me, jaw clenched, eyes tired in a way I’d never seen before.Something in me snapped. “You think I’m made of glass, don’t you? That I’ll break if you stop holding on so tight.”His expression didn’t change,

  • The Billionaire's secret baby bride    The Face of the Enemy

(Alexander’s POV)The forest was silent—too silent. The kind of silence that pressed against your chest until breathing felt like betrayal. Every sound mattered here. Every rustle, every whisper of wind through wet leaves could mean a trigger, a trap, a death.I kept my gun low, sweeping through the fog with every step. The metallic taste of adrenaline coated my tongue. Behind me, Isabella’s breathing was soft, uneven. She was scared, but she followed. Always followed.“Stay behind me,” I murmured. She didn’t argue. Just nodded once, the faint glow of dawn catching on her damp hair. Then I saw it—a flicker of light ahead. A cigarette ember. A silhouette moving between the trees.Vincent Leclair.Even through the mist, his posture was unmistakable. He was calm. Waiting. The kind of predator that didn’t chase—he made you walk right into his teeth.I motioned for Isabella to stay back and stepped forward, gun raised.“Leclair!” My voice cut through the quiet like a blade. The man turned

  • The Billionaire's secret baby bride    Shadows and Sanctuary

(Isabella’s POV)The car sped through the city under a bruised sky, headlights slicing through the dark like desperate hope. Rain poured down in violent sheets, beating against the windshield, each drop echoing the chaos in my chest.Alexander’s hands gripped the steering wheel tight, knuckles white, his jaw set in a way that made him look carved from stone. The rhythmic flick of the wipers did little to calm the storm inside either of us.Neither of us spoke for a long time. The silence between us was alive—thick with fear, exhaustion, and all the words we didn’t dare say. Finally, I whispered, “Where are we going?”He didn’t glance at me. “Somewhere safe.”Safe. I wasn’t sure I even knew what that meant anymore. We drove for nearly an hour before the city lights began to fade, swallowed by the dense forest that bordered the outskirts. The roads grew narrower, rougher, until we turned onto a barely visible dirt path that led into darkness.A few minutes later, a cabin appeared in the

  • The Billionaire's secret baby bride    The Calms Before the Ruin

I woke up to silence. Not the peaceful kind that cradles you after a storm, but the kind that hums with things unsaid—delicate, waiting to shatter.Alexander’s arm was still around me, heavy and protective, his body warm against my back. For a fleeting second, I allowed myself to pretend that nothing had happened—that the lies, the distance, the heartbreak—were all part of a bad dream. That when I turned around, he’d smile and say it was okay. But then I opened my eyes. The morning light poured through the curtains, gilding the room in gold and gray. His scent lingered—clean, masculine, familiar. My heart ached at how much I’d missed that smell, that touch, that peace. He stirred beside me, shifting slightly, his breath brushing against my shoulder. For a heartbeat, I thought he’d pull me closer.Instead, he let go.The emptiness that followed was worse than any fight we’d ever had.He sat up slowly, rubbing his hand over his face, as if trying to wipe away the night. His eyes met min
