Two Years Later...
Much had changed in these two years. Victória was living with her aunt and still searching for a job to start over.
Every day, she sent out résumés, but when she saw the time today, it was time to feed the kids.
Time, even if brief, had been kind to Victória. The helplessness and fragility she once felt had been replaced by an enormous willpower to make things happen. This growth only amplified her beauty.
Since being cast out of her home, she sought refuge with her mother’s family—specifically her aunt Valentina, the only remaining member of the Burdeos family.
A month after the ordeal, Victória discovered she was pregnant. Her first thought was to terminate the pregnancy, but after seeing two tiny shapes on the ultrasound, something inside her shifted.
She completed her education and, since becoming a mother, dedicated herself to giving her children the best life possible.
Victória entered the kitchen unhurriedly and began preparing breakfast. The children and her aunt were still asleep. While waiting for them to wake, she received a notification from a modeling agency: her résumé had been accepted, and she was to report at 9:00 a.m.
She couldn’t believe it—she finally had a job and could support her children and aunt.
Valentina emerged from her room, holding the hands of the twins.
"Vic, why are you up so early?"
Victória put down her phone and ran to hug her.
"Auntie, I got a job! I’ll finally have my own income."
"You got a job?" Surprise laced Valentina’s voice. "You’re not joking, are you?"
Victória shook her head and knelt to embrace her adorable twins.
Although the same age, Enzo was older than Lara by 15 minutes, making him the big brother. They had just turned one and could only say a few words, “Mama” being their favorite.
"I’ll feed them first. I have to leave for the office by 9!" Victória said, picking up Enzo and Lara.
She sat on the couch and began feeding them.
Victória had nursed them since birth. Formula milk was expensive, and she felt guilty about spending Valentina’s money. Fortunately, she still had plenty of milk, even a year later.
When she arrived at her destination, she stood in front of the Carson Group building, not realizing the agency was located there.
She then realized she might run into Jackson again—in the very building he owned and worked in. However, she desperately needed the job and the income. Summoning her courage, she entered the building, convincing herself that if she saw him, she could just leave.
She no longer had feelings for Jackson. Their story was in the past.
Upon entering the grand lobby, she pressed the elevator button. The design agency was on the eleventh floor, and she focused solely on that.
A commotion suddenly disrupted the building's routine. A group of well-dressed men appeared in the first-floor corridor without warning, heading straight in her direction.
Leading the group was none other than Jackson Carson himself.
His presence drew the attention of numerous women. After all, he embodied male perfection—the man every woman wished to have.
Victória had once been one of those women, but not anymore.
She knew she would never win his favor. Moreover, he still believed she had drugged him. All she wanted now was to stay far away from him.
Standing in the elevator with her gaze lowered, she was lost in memories of the past. Before the doors could close, a pair of black shoes stepped inside, and Jackson’s cologne filled the confined space.
Victória took a deep breath, her lungs overwhelmed by his scent.
Damn it, she needed to get out of there!
If she stayed any longer, he’d recognize her, trapping them in the same elevator—something she desperately wanted to avoid. But before she could step out, the doors shut completely.
Jackson’s gaze landed on her, his expression hardening.
"What are you doing here? What’s your scheme this time?" His voice was cold as winter.
She knew it. He still remembered her.
Victória didn’t know how to respond. Whatever she said, he wouldn’t believe her. Summoning a sudden wave of courage, she retorted:
"You think too highly of yourself! I’m not interested in you at all!"
Jackson’s eyes hardened at her words.
Clearly, Victória was the first person to ever speak to him like that. In his eyes, she was still the woman who had schemed against him two years ago.
Realizing her tone had been harsh, she decided to remain silent, standing rigidly, afraid to move.
On the other hand, Jackson took a deep breath to suppress the fury bubbling inside him. He wasn’t a man prone to holding grudges or making life difficult for women, but Victória was different.
She had drugged him.
And then slept with him.
And now, she had the audacity to appear before him, which naturally infuriated him.
“Can we talk now, Mr. Lazer?” Jackson tapped the table with two fingers and asked Ricardo to sit down, and Ricardo sat down sternly after careful consideration. He couldn't let his mother be expelled from São Paulo; her whole life was here! After sitting down again, Ricardo felt angry, upset, and even anxious, and rubbed his hands together several times, even though he was handcuffed.“All right, I'll tell you what you want to know.”“But you have to promise you won't bother my mother and Ciara.”“I promise!” Jackson replied, and Ricardo sighed in exasperation and anger and said to Victoria.“Victoria, you're not my daughter!” he said, turning to her. That was why Victoria couldn't receive paternal love, and Ricardo had no feelings for her mother in recent years. So everything happened for a reason, and as long as Victoria remembered the neglect and emotional abuse her m
Ciara was stunned, and covered her bruised right cheek with her hands, looked at Victoria and gritted her teeth, and Suelen couldn't stand seeing her daughter being beaten by others, and immediately planned to go after Victoria. She threatened to raise her hand, but some bodyguards suddenly came out and immediately grabbed Suelen and Ciara, rudely pushing them against the railing.“Let me go!” Ciara was pressed against the railing by the bodyguard, and many people passing by stopped and looked at Ciara, which made her embarrassed.Coincidentally, the socialites who knew Ciara were shopping at the mall, and when they passed by, they saw Ciara being pressed against the railing.“Ciara?” They called out to her.Ciara turned around and was extremely embarrassed to see them.“Please help me?” Ciara wanted to leave, so she said politely.Ciara knew they had bodyguards and asked for their help, but these wom
Jackson didn't expect the rumors about Victoria's mother to spread so widely, and although he asked someone to clean up all the relevant news, people continued to gossip about it, and some websites still published the news from time to time, no matter how Jackson tried to stop them. When Victoria went out, people recognized her, and Soraya Carson became concerned about the shocking news about Victoria's mother because reputation was important to a wealthy family. The Carsons would not allow the daughter of a hostess to be Jackson's wife. Some relatives asked Soraya many questions, which tired her out, as they did not want Jackson to marry a girl of ill repute, and could not accept the daughter of a nightclub hostess, as it would ruin the Carson family's reputation.Soraya liked Victoria, and besides, Victoria was pregnant and expecting her third child.“The news is false,” she continued to explain to her relatives. “Victoria is a good girl
“Mr. Carson, since Mrs. Carson worked at the Carson Group, did you have an office romance with her?” a reporter asked. As Victoria expected, the question was asked, but Jackson told her he would answer, so she remained calm when she heard it.“Yes, but before we were ready to make the announcement, Victoria voluntarily resigned because we don't want to break company rules.”“Mr. Carson, can you tell us why you like Mrs. Carson?” another reporter asked.“I love everything about her.” Jackson replied with a smile. “She is my destiny, so when I saw her on a certain day, I knew I had to marry her.”Jackson's affectionate words surprised all the reporters, as they did not expect a president as cold as Jackson to say such sweet words to the one he loved.“Mr. Carson, I have one more question!” the reporter continued. “You may proceed.”“Mrs. Carson is wear
But in the second year after the marriage, Suelen met Ricardo at a party, and he was drunk and told her it was too soon. They had sex only once, and she became pregnant. At that time, people probably wondered if this was his child, so he married her, and Suelen's family was not rich, but they were middle class and much better off than Victoria's mother's family.Ricardo didn't like that woman at the time, but she didn't know why he would marry her because she was pregnant. Of course, after marrying him, she knew it was her father's decision. Her father was seriously ill and wanted a great-grandson. Only then could he hand over the Lazer Group to Ricardo. So Ricardo married her in a hurry.“Mom, do you have any evidence or photos? Tomorrow, the Carson Group will officially announce their marriage, and I won't let them be happy!” Thinking about tomorrow's big official announcement, Ciara was particularly jealous and angry.“Let
“I thought you saw what I wore this morning.” Victoria didn't know what he wanted and replied cautiously. “I'm wearing a white shirt and a pleated skirt. Did you forget?”“I forgot. Can you send me your photo?” Of course, Jackson remembered that, and it was he who wore the skirt for her.“Are you crazy? It's time for work!”“I want to see it!” Jackson played with a pen and continued.Victoria's heart was beating fast when she saw this message, and she knew that Jackson was suppressing his lust and he was in agony. However, she was pregnant now. Therefore, Victoria wanted to do something she could to satisfy his lust.Victoria picked up her phone and took a selfie and sent it to Jackson, who received the photo and was excited. He regretted what he had done, and he shouldn't have flirted with Victoria when she was pregnant, but he felt lust just because of her selfie.Jackson hun
