Chapter Six - She was Married

[Liam’s POV]

Coming out of Roy Enterprises conference room, I was informed by my secretary that I had a guest waiting for me in my office.

Of course, I knew who it was. There was only one person I expected in my office today.

And sure enough, it was him.

"Alex, is there any update on the people you and your team are looking for?" I took my seat behind the large wooden desk in the office.

The man before me was one of my most trusted subordinates, Alex Cross.

He was the leader of the Eagle Squad, a secret mercenary organization under Roy Enterprise.

Right now, they were tasked with finding the whereabouts of a renowned researcher who had recently joined a secret research team.

"Yes, we found people looking to buy the huraqiuea herb, which, to our knowledge, is the most crucial herb in making the Q-8 vaccine," Alex replied smoothly.

" Location?" I inquired.

"New Jersey. I have people stationed there keeping an eye on the herbs and drugs market, and another set of people investigating the person looking to buy the huraqiuea," They were finally making some progress on the case.

"Alright, continue with what you are doing, and let me know if there's anything important immediately" At this point, I would do anything to get that Q-8 vaccine.

"Okay, sir. Have a nice day" Alex Cross replied before stealthily getting up to leave the office.

Alex had just left when the door of my office was knocked on.

“Come in” I already knew who it was from the manner of knocking.

My assistant pushed the door open and entered the office with a tablet in his hands.

“Sir, she accepted the offer” Assistant Jace said, placing the tablet before me.

I curved my lips slightly. I had expected it, after all no one could resist the allure of Roy Enterprises.

“Good.”

On the tablet in front of me was Ivy Zane’s profile. Age, Education, Culinary training under a legendary chef, and a photograph.

Ivy Zane, that was her name.

Immediately I got to the office after leaving the hotel, I had asked my assistant to find out about the chef at the dinner banquet.

And sure enough, it was her.

But I found something interesting.

She was married.

She was married to Alex Cross, one of my subordinates.

The same man who just left my office.

I could see why she was still a virgin up until last night.

Alex was always out on missions and he had a lover.

To my knowledge, Alex had a wife whom he did not love.

Who would have thought his wife would turn out to be Ivy?

And how the hell did he not fall in love with a girl like Ivy?

I was glad though, now I have a chance at getting Ivy.

She would be all mine sooner or later.

“Prepare a room in the penthouse,” I ordered calmly. “She’ll live there from now on.”

Assistant Jace hesitated, knowing my recent fixation on the lady.

“Sir… she’s married.”

My gaze lifted slowly at his words, cold and sharp.

“I know”

Silence fell.

“She won’t be for long,” I added in a low voice.

Jace had no choice but to acquiesce.

“By the way, Chairman Osborne requests to schedule a meeting with you. If that is not possible, he requests that you call him at least.” Jace informed me to none of my greatest surprise.

It seemed that the spoiled princess had gone to complain to her ‘daddy’.

“I'll give him a call” I picked up my phone. Meeting him face to face would require some form of fake pleasantries which I would much rather do over the phone.

“If there's nothing else, you may leave” I said, dismissing Jace.

The moment he left, I called Chairman Osborne to get it over with.

“Hello” He answered immediately. It seemed he had been waiting for the call.

“Chairman Osborne, I was informed you wanted to speak with me. Is anything the matter?” I asked, going straight to the point.

“Yes, Vivian said you publicly defied her for a mere chef and she has been sulking ever since. As her fiance, you need to go easy on her and pamper her a little. You guys would get married one day.” Chairman Osborne spoke lengthily.

I leaned back on my seat, listening to him with a slight curve at the side of my lips.

“Chairman Osborne, I do not remember myself having a fiancée. And especially not Vivian.

Any business you have with my mother should remain with my mother, please. Since she wants a daughter-in-law so much, she can go ahead and marry Vivian herself” My voice was cold.

I ended the call, giving him no chance to speak anymore.

My mother desperately wanted me to get married to Vivian, but that was impossible.

Vivian was spoiled and a foolish airhead.

I could not see myself having anything to do with her. Most especially marrying her.

I would never do that.

And my mother knew better than to force me into doing anything.

On another note, there was only one woman I could see myself with right now.

Ivy Zane.

I couldn't wait for her to start working and living with me in the penthouse.

I could already imagine the things I would do to her.

Of course, with her consent.

I wouldn't do anything to her if she were uncomfortable with it.

Since her husband didn't know how to cherish a lovely woman like Ivy, I would do it on his behalf.
