Shane's POV

I killed the engine just as I arrived and turned to my side. She hadn't woken up. This was my chance. I checked her pulse and confirmed she was breathing then stepped out of the car.

The wind was chilly and it blew on my face. I let out the breath I was holding in and runned my hands.

My eyes twinkled as I caught the view of the old woods and abandoned house in front of me.

An abandoned house and it was perfect for what I was about to do. I went back to her side of the door and carried her.

Her head moved, resting on my chest, just as I closed the door with a slight push of my legs.

She was light and weighed close to a few sacks of laundry. I didn't wake up, it would ruin the fun.

Once we got in, I found a chair and helped her sit, then I returned to the car and took out the rope I had hidden in the trunk. I wasn't a killer or maniac but it sure came in handy for today.

She didn't move as I tied her and pushed her face backwards. I touched her cheek, they were a bit cold a

Shane’s POVThe man was tied to the chair in front of us, his head slumped. Dwayne stood by the wall, his bodyguards behind him, waiting.I shrugged off my jacket and folded my shirt sleeves. The air was heavy, cold. I grabbed a metal bucket filled with ice water and walked over. Without hesitation, I tipped it over him.The water splashed across his body. He jolted awake, gasping, shivering, coughing. His eyes flew open, blinking rapidly as water dripped from his hair.“Welcome back,” I said evenly. He jerked against the chains, panic in his eyes. “What do you want from me?”His gaze shifted, catching Dwayne. Dwayne smirked. “You’re lucky it’s not me handling you right now. If it was, you’d already be bleeding on the floor.”The man shook his head violently. “I don’t know anything—”“Don’t lie,” Dwayne snapped. “Tell us why you killed our father.”The man flinched. “I didn’t—”I stepped forward, cutting him off. “Your girlfriend’s phone tells a different story. You were active. Both

Lucy’s POVI sat across from Melissa, my eyes locked on her like I was reading a book she didn’t want me to open. She looked down at her chicken bone as if it could protect her. I saw her fingers tremble before she forced herself to pick it up again.“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said quickly, her voice too sharp to be casual.I tilted my head, watching her try to avoid my gaze. “Really? You don’t?”Her eyes darted back up, wide, defensive. “No. I don’t. You’re imagining things, Lucy. You’re making up stuff that isn’t true.”I leaned back against the couch, folding my arms. “I don’t think so. I think you’re the one pretending not to know.”She got up so fast her can of beer almost tipped. She brushed her hands down her jeans, as if cleaning invisible dirt. “You know what? I think you should go.”I didn’t move. I let my voice stay calm. “That’s what you want? For me to walk out while you hide again? No. Not tonight.”Her jaw tightened. “I’m serious, Lucy. You need to le

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 149

Shane's POVThe woman smirked and said nothing.I leaned forward, resting my elbows on the table. My voice was low, calm, but sharp enough to cut. “Listen to me carefully. You think hiding behind a lawyer will save you? No. I can make sure your family pays for this. I can have your mother, your father, everyone dragged into courtrooms, hounded, and broken. You’ll watch them crumble while you rot in here.”Her lips trembled, but she still tried to keep her stare strong.“I don’t care if you’re a woman,” I went on. “I will not go easy on you. You poisoned someone to shut her up. Tell me why.”She stuttered, muttered nonsense, tried to steer the conversation away. My patience snapped. I turned to the detective. “Go after her boyfriend. He’s the one pulling strings.”At the mention of his name, her eyes flickered. That was all I needed.I leaned in close enough for only her to hear. “I know you’re pregnant. I saw your medical records. You’ll make a perfect slave in prison. Do you want tha

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 148

Shane’s POVI rubbed my face hard with both hands, my frustration climbing as each second passed. The screen in front of me showed nothing helpful anymore. I felt like I was wasting my time digging for a ghost. I was about to push the chair back when the door creaked open and a male nurse stepped in.He froze when his eyes landed on me. His smile was faint, almost forced, and he asked in a calm but strange voice, “Are you looking for someone? I can help you.”The way he spoke, the way his eyes shifted around like he was making sure no one else was in the room, made my stomach twist. He was too eager, too quick to offer help in a place like this. I leaned back in my chair, shaking my head slowly.“No thanks,” I told him, my tone flat. His jaw tensed for a second, then he nodded and walked out the door. I kept my eyes on him, following him until he left. That was when I saw it.The edge of a tattoo. The dark lines peeking out from under his sleeve as he reached for the handle. I didn’t

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 147

Shane's POVI breathed out and focused my eyes on the empty road before me. Dwayne's voice sprung up.“Shouldn't you inform the police?”“And risk her trying to escape? Not a chance.”“But if we figured it out, shouldn't the police have that in mind?”“Not yet. They think I…” I looked at him and made a hand gesture. “We killed her. She might likely be the last person they think of, except they consider the fact that we got an apprentice and didn't want to get our hands dirty.”Dwayne undid his seat belt and pressed his back to the chair. “Spit it.”“What?” I requested.“Whatever's going on in that damn brain of yours.”“I wonder if she's already on the run now?”“Wouldn't that make it very suspicious on her end?” Dwayne responded casually.I said nothing and kept staring at the empty road, then muttered. “What if we catch both at the same time?”“You mean for us to divide, don't you?”My silence gave the answer. He shook his head. “I don't know what the person we are after looks like.

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 146

Shane's POVHearing the siren from the ambulance wasn't helpful. I stood outside with Wayne, watching the paramedics carry the woman's remains in a body bag and enter the ambulance. The officer before me clicked his pen and flipped his notepad. His tone started off rasped and then settled to a judgy one.“Let me get this straight. The victim was with you in the private section of the café with your brother.”“Yes,” I answered, already knowing where the conversation was headed.“And you didn't poison her?”“No, I didn't.”“And she began foaming while she was about to divulge some information to you?”“Yes. We have gone over this four times,” I replied, irritated. His eyes searched me and I saw the disgust. It was more of him assessing me, and I knew he was making the usual judgment that rich men always get away with anything.“What was the information she was supposed to give to you?”“She said she knew who could have possibly killed my father.”The officer didn't look impressed. “Forg
