Shane's POV

She smiled as she noticed me. I stepped into the cleared path, holding the pink box. I had left that morning to get the gift.

It wasn't because I was in love with her because I totally wasn't. It couldn't be that. But my phone's calendar had reminded me of her birthday.

I had been drinking my coffee and scrolling through my phone, bored as hell and ignoring half of the company's email which gave me a headache.

The notification popped up, catching my attention. I had saved it the day I made her sign the contract.

It was a habit I couldn't stop. Whenever I was interested in someone or anything. I would save their most important dates. It mostly worked as a revenge tool but only on a rare case when I wanted to serve an eye for an eye.

Weddings and important business launching dates weren't left out either.

It took an hour of me arguing with my subconsciousness if getting her something would be nice. I had done this before and it was always left to my secretary.

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 41

Shane’s POVShe gazed at me, her eyes shining, the present crushed close to her bosom, holding it like a precious doll. She has no idea what her smile did to me. I wasn't supposed to feel this way for her, but I did. The guards and maids left the room, giving us our moment. I hope she loved the present. I put my hand out and drew her into a hug before I even had time to reconsider it. Her little gasp into my chest had my stomach flipping with butterflies. My hand rested on the back of her head, holding her close, not wanting to release her yet.“You should go change,” I said, inhaling the subtle fragrance of her shampoo. “I’m taking you out on a date.”She drew away, eyes wide. “Out? Like…out, out?”A small laugh got out of me before I could help it. “Yes, out, out,” I teased, flicking a hair back from her face. “It’s your birthday. Let me spoil you today.”That felt good saying it.Her lips parted without saying anything and she smiled. Her head bobbing in agreement as she latched

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 39

Lucy's POVI waited for hours. He said he would be home early. Yet he wasn't back. The penthouse felt very lonely with only the guards standing at the doors doing their job.“Where is he?” I murmured, dialing his number for the hundredth time. It went straight to voicemail and I gave up. He was probably stuck at work, but it still hurt. It felt like I was missing something important. I had taken my time to prepare dinner and kept glancing at my phone for the time. It was past 11 and I started to feel dizzy. Soon, I wrapped myself in a blanket waiting on the couch when everything slowly turned dark. Something carried me. It was gentle, and my body felt pressed against something soft. “Uhm, so warm,” I groaned, holding onto whatever I felt was enough. I heard a low chuckle and didn't think about it. It was definitely my dream. When I touched the warm sheets, my eyes opened meeting Shane's eyes. “Where have you been?” I asked in a sleepy voice. “I was at work. I'm sorry I missed

Shane's POVIt was already sick and tiring having the noise in the room. A couple of minutes had gone by and it was all because of one person. My hand rubbed my forehead, with the brewing madness until I couldn't take it anymore. I clapped and everyone kept quiet. Then I started, making sure to look at Dwayne so he knew I wasn't joking.“This should never be a problem. If the will gives us the right to both have a spot at the CEO spot then we have to check the merits.”I scanned the file with my eyes and smiled. “It says here that the CEO position is much preferable to the one married.”My eyes went up, meeting Dwayne's. “Only one of us is married.”Then I returned to looking at the file. “And the other criterias here include your involvement and achievements in the business.”“Do you have any of those qualities?” I asked calmly. “What does it matter?” He asked. “Doesn't it? You brought the file and I am reading the content to you. Don't tell me you didn't go through it? You aren

Shane's POVThe Next Day: Board RoomI took my seat at the head table in the board facing the directors and executives. Everyone sat quietly then greeted with a nod.“Let's begin with,” I said calmly. “I understand there's an unexpected item on our agenda. What's it about?”One of the executives, a bald man in his late fifties, began. “The stock market has been stable, but there's no improvement and there is also the issue with the recent rise in mixed up orders causing customers complaints.”“And what are the marketing and PR teams doing about it?” I asked. The room went eerily quiet with some exchanging looks among themselves. I didn't need a soothsayer to know that half of them were the reason for what was happening.“Well…they are working on it,” he answered.“For how long?” I asked, meeting his eyes. He swallowed and looked away.“I'll see to it that they report to me as quickly as possible.”“Hmm,” I answered, nodding. My fingers tapped gently on the table and I spoke out. “Have

Xandra's POV“Hell no!” I yelled. “I am not doing that.”“Stop being such a spoiled entitled brat and do it,” mom yelled.“I won't. You can do whatever you like but I'm not selling myself short to him.”“News flash honey. You already are. Maybe, it wouldn't have happened if you weren't so comfortable being a bitch!”“I guess I learnt from the best. I am your replica after all.”“Don't speak to me like that!”“Or what, mom! You'll see me throw that away like you did did to your dignity!” I yelled back.SMACK!My face ached at the spot she hit me. If I hated Dwayne before then I loathed him now.My face contorted showing my anger. “I have had enough of you and that son of a bitch!”She slapped me again. “That son of a bitch is trying to save whatever is left of your dignity and you have the guts to be ungrateful.”“Ungrateful? Do you have any idea why I am in this mess?”“I don't care! It's your fault! You never do anything good. It's always loads of problems!” She lashed out.I froze,
