Lucy’s POV

I told myself not to ruin it. Not to let Dwayne’s stupid smirk ruin what Shane did for me. But it was damn hard to focus when my heart pounded so hard I could barely taste my food.

I kept poking my fork with my fork wishing I could stab the living daylight out of those jerks.

What was he doing with her?

“Do you want to leave?” Shane asked, pulling me from my thoughts.

It took a while before I understood his question. There was no freaking way I would leave here for them. He had taken his time to plan this and I wasn't about to be ungrateful.

“No.”

“I'm not so sure about that,” he said, glancing over to the other side of the room.

“Leave them. I'm just not that hungry,” I said, touching his hand.

His eyes looked down to my hand and moved to my face. “You were hungry a couple of minutes before they showed up.”

I started eating, not wanting her day to end bad. “See, I got it back.”

He sighed. There was something about the way he made those sounds. It turned me on.

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 48

Shane's POVTwo Weeks Later:It was the weekend and we were having dinner. Meredith and Dwayne were seated and everything was going fine.I swallowed my food, eating my mashed potatoes while Meredith laughed. It annoyed the crap out of me. Dad acted like nothing was wrong and kept talking. They weren't even trying to hide it or show remorse since I caught them. I watched them talking and laughing like lovers while mom third wheeled. My blood boiled as I heard Dad crack stupid jokes and Dwayne responding to them with even more stupid jokes.I picked the chicken angrily and began slicing on my plate. It didn't cut, pushing me over the edge and I grabbed it and bit hard into it tearing the flesh.“Yo, man. Easy will ya? The chicken's not running,” Dwayne joked.Everyone laughed but I didn't find it funny. “I'm hungry,” I said with a full mouth.“Darling, don't talk with food in your mouth. You're going to choke,” Mom cautioned.I nodded. Dad noticed my gaze and he blinked, looking away t

Shane's POV“Enough! Stop it! Goddamn it!” He yelled. He rubbed his hands on his face and breathed. “Look, I'm sorry alright. I didn't mean for this to happen.”“Yeah, right. You didn't,” I answered. “How long has this been going on?”“That's not really important,” he said.“How long? Or I swear to God I am calling Mom right now and telling her!”He breathed calmly and kept quiet. I nodded, understanding perfectly why he was speechless. He had been doing it for years. Right behind our backs.“Fuck you,” I said in the coldest tone and walked out.“Shane,” he called, walking after me. “Shane!”“Go to hell!” I retorted and kept walking, running out of the house and into the street.I didn't care, didn't stop and kept moving, holding back the tears as the anger swelled up inside me.My world was falling apart and I didn't know how to stop it. I got to school before the first bell rang, huffing and puffing.I ran to the restroom and washed my face. I practice my emotions trying not to let

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 46

Shane's POVThe next morning, I was up and quiet. I didn't ask and knew there was a fight. I couldn't understand why Mom was still with him.I found out mom had been fined when I saw the tickets in the trash can while helping her take out the used vegetables.Breakfast was quiet as usual and we were back to acting normal in no time. Dad's business grew and he became busy. I couldn't have been happier but Mom also started to have less time in the house. My dinner went from a home cooked meal to pizza orders but I didn't complain. Meredith helped out, coming over to cook. Dad seemed to praise her more and smirks a lot when she was around. That was barely a luxury when he was with Mom. I felt suspicious at first, the jealousy eating me whole until I found it pointless and gave up.She had only treated me nicely and I was ashamed I had thought of her like that.Meredith also helped with the orders and Mom delivered them. Soon, the sleepovers were at my house while our parents worked. We w

I did fall, rolling down the three last stairs and crashing to the floor.I groaned, slowly rising and mom's eyes bulged as she saw me. Dad's hands were on her neck and he was squeezing hard. Her face had turned red and he

Shane's POVI didn't know if it was right telling her about it. But her eager eyes urged me on. Yet, it felt like I was sharing a bit too much.“What?” She asked, looking shocked. “Nah, that's not true.”I looked at her, dead in the eyes and answered. “Yes, it is.”“Oh, boy,” she muttered. My eyes narrowed as memories started to flood back in.She looked at me again and blinked, each second telling me that she wanted to know how.“It's a boring story, really,” I said.“I want to hear it,” she answered.“Okay,” I said and began rolling the curtains of my mind to some years back.To The Past:I was five watching cartoon on the television when the door slammed shut. It was Dad, he was back stumbling because he was drunk. This had become normal ever since he lost his job a week ago and I didn't understand why he was being silly.“Matthew!” Mom yelled calmly. “Why are you doing this to yourself?”He groaned, turning to his side avoiding her as if she were a leech.“You're hurting yourself

Lucy’s POV“Jesus,” I gasped watching Dwayne's head snap back.“Ow,” he groaned, covering his nose. When he dropped his hands, I saw the blood flowing from his nose and dripping to his lip. Xandra's glass fell from her hand, shattering on the floor as she yelped and stepped back in fright. The restaurant became quiet so fast I could hear the devil coming. Dwayne threw a punch but missed, and Shane retaliated with another hit on his face sending him spinning. Some other men had stepped in to pull him away from Dwayne. “Stop it!” I screamed, and ran towards him, grabbing his arm before he could swing again.I had never seen him this angry before and it scared the shit out of me. His eyes showed every bit of rage and I looked around, noticing some people pull out their phones, recording and talking. Oh no. This was going to make it to the news. Shane tried to hit him again as Dwayne laughed, revealing his bloodied teeth and I stepped in front of him. He stopped, as he saw me. “Pl
