Shane’s POV

I groaned and let out a deep sigh as my eyes fluttered open. I was sprawled across my bed, my ribs aching, a dull throb behind my eyes. Lucy was asleep beside me, her face buried in the pillow.

I stared at the ceiling, replaying fragments of my memories of last night…the fight, the wounded men, the whiskey haze and of course, the revelation that Dwayne was my biological brother.

I turned, careful not to wake Lucy as I slid out of the bed. The house was still, mercifully so. I needed air.

Dwayne couldn’t have known about this too. If he did, he wouldn’t sit still and let me have all I had in the company.

As I ran, I thought about our relationship. Dwayne was an asshole, we had never gotten along well and now, I was sure that it was all Meredith’s plan.

When I finally arrived at the estate, I met Lucy already at the breakfast table, her hands wrapped around a mug. She looked up when I entered.

“Morning,” I said quietly.

“Morning,” she mirrored, offering the mug. “Strong?

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 230

Meredith’s POVThe silver SUV rolled to a stop right on time.I lifted the binoculars, adjusting the focus until the woman came into view. Her face glowed with that smug happiness mothers wore when they thought their perfect little world was safe. Two kids—twins—climbed out of the backseat. A boy and a girl. Matching backpacks. Matching sneakers. The same curly brown hair.I smiled. There you are.The woman crouched down, straightened their collars, and kissed them each on the forehead before they ran into the preschool gates. She stood there for a moment, watching them. Then she walked back to her car and drove off, not even glancing around. No sense of caution. No idea.As her car disappeared down the street, I lowered the binoculars and exhaled slowly. Everything was exactly as planned.I looked into the rearview mirror. Pale skin. Short blonde bob. Thin frame. Light eyebrows. A new face staring back at me. Laura Shawl. That was my name now. Meredith didn’t exist anymore. She’d bee

Lucy's POV It had been months since Meredith sent any threats to us. The twins' third birthday was approaching in a week. “One potato, two potatoes, three potatoes…” Aria counted. “Stop counting. You're giving me a headache,” Ethan complained but Aria ignored him.She was so eager to count every single thing in the basket. We were in the kitchen and she thought it was better to count than hand me the potatoes like she was supposed to. “Mom,” Ethan called. “Please, tell Aria to shut up.”“Sweetie, don't be harsh on your sister. Aria, can you stop counting?”“But I want to be sure we have the right amount,” she complained. “It doesn't matter. You can count later when you're eating but we have to cook these. Hand me the potatoes,” I said gently. She held one, looked at it sadly like it was her precious toy and stretched her hands. “Thank you,” I mouthed and threw it into the pot.Ethan wasn't as patient. He picked a couple more and gave them to me. Soon, the basket was empty and wh

Lucy’s POVGolden morning sun filtered through the curtains, lighting and warming the room. For the first time in weeks, both twins had slept later than dawn.It was supposed to be a gentle start.I was halfway through my coffee when Caroline blew in with the paper. “Front page, darling.”There was one: a picture of Dwayne and Xandra’s engagement, the headline citing the “Mason family charm.” I laughed. “Charm? They certainly didn’t see me screaming at Shane in that parking lot.”Caroline smiled. “They saw what mattered.”Before I could answer, the doorbell . It was quick, and sharp.Shane emerged from the nursery, still in his pajama pants. “Expecting someone?”“No,” I said. “Maybe Xandra forgot something.”The guard returned with a glossy black envelope. He handed it over to me. I took it, confused. It has no name and no return address.“The mail man said it was for Mrs. Wilson,” he said and I nodded, letting him return.I stared at the silver wax seal, imprinted with an odd symbol

  • The Billionaires Game    Chapter 226

Lucy's POVThe twins changed everything from my sleep, to my schedule, my sanity. Everything was gone. The first week was a pain, then the next month. I was slowly getting used to it.It was 2 a.m, and I was doing what had become my nightly routine – trying to rock Aria to sleep while humming offline to a lullaby I barely remembered.Shane was up, holding Ethan because he was the one who started it, crying for no reason and waking his sister up.Ethan was the starter package. Aria was more quiet. He would cry so loud, waking his sister and go back to being quiet. Finally, Ethan closed his eyes and Shane had a lot of crisis trying to lay him in his crib without waking him up. “He's a little pain in the ass,” Shane whispered.“You're not different,” I mumbled back. Then he took Aria. She was a daddy's girl closing her eyes when she got in his arms. He rocked her, staying that way a little longer and I knew she was going to be spoiled rotten.“You're cheating. Ethan got little time,” I c

Lucy's POVTwo and Half Months LaterThe music played in the ballroom. Tonight was Dwayne and Xandra's engagement party. He was as nervous as hell a day before, asking me for the hundredth time if Xandra would love to be his.Shane had fun mocking him. Dwayne and I had gotten closer. He acted like my brother and made Shane swear he would be the godfather of our child. Shane didn't buy that.“That's Caleb's role. You're an uncle. Deal with it.”“Tsk. After denying he was your best friend for so long,” Caleb complained.Shane had his hands over Dwayne's shoulder and teased him some more. “Thanks for making me realize it. You're not completely useless after all.”Dwayne shot him a glare and I knew what was up. “Nope. Not here. You two are going to act like grown men. Shane, stop testing Dwayne's patience. He needs it for tomorrow and you…”Dwayne's eyes immediately went to my face. “Let it go. Come help me with this.”Dwayne rushed over and then I felt a kick in my stomach. “Oooh,” I gro
