Chapter 8

The tiring day kicked out to be a hell of a hectic one for Roman. Right after he had left home for his office, he had wanted to hand over his kids into the safe hands of Rose.

But then, he didn't get to meet her. He had wanted to wait for her arrival in the morning. However, works calls for his urgent presence so he had to leave as soon as possible.

Presently, Roman could be seen seating on his black coated swiveling chair. Clicking sounds of keyboards could be heard as the workaholic man was busily thumping his bare fingers on the keyboard as his dark eyes stuck on the face of the computer.

He was struggling to round up his labors for the day so he had to make certain everything was set before he leaves for his home. Suddenly, a soft knock came twice on the door.

He paused, his eyes flickering to the door as a a cold silence engulf the scenery.

"Come in!" He finally let out, his eyes moving back to the computer in front of him as he resumed his typing.

The door of his office opened, a strong cologne hit his nose at that stance. Roman, needed no one to tell him it was his secretary, she only uses such annoying cologne everytime.

"What is it, Tracy?" He asked, however, it came out as a groan which only meant he wished to be left alone and not to be interrupted.

"Sir!" Tracy bowed in esteem, her right arm clutched two pile of blue files protectively.

She's a pretty blonde in her twenties, she wore a raven black shirt which got to her knees. Then, a white silk long sleeve which fitted her perfectly well. However, if one should take a close look on her, they'd snatch a glint that the heavy makeup she wear on we're a defense to her beauty.

"Sir William, is here to see you," she reported professionally.

Her brown eyes ogling at the handsome features of her boss who's face was lightened up by the computer fluorescent glows.

"Okay, send him in," Roman muttered casually but to her sole hearing.

"O-oh, okay sir," Tracy nervously shutters, her legs spins as they advances towards the door as she left the office.

"Hmm!" Rowan signed, his quickly shifting to his wrist as he elbowed his arm.

"7: 49 pm, says the clock," he muttered again.

Abruptly, he sprang out of the chair as if his butt got burnt from the seat textures. His legs changing positions towards the window and at that the same juncture, Tracy came in with his best friend -Williams.

"Sir, he's here," Tracy instantaneously informed as William moves towards his friend.

"Hey! Dude!" William hailed.

"You may leave, Tracy. Its getting late already, you can go home now," Roman instructs, unintentionally ignoring his friend greetings.

"Thank you, sir!" Tracy beamed happily, without any forth delay, she left while the both men took over the office.

"You didn't tell you were coming," Roman said, veering around to confront his friend who halted on his track, and then scoffed audibly.

"Like seriously? Call? When I know your not gonna pick up," William told and Roman signed.

"I'm sorry," he apologised genuinely, the apologies weren't necessary but he felt like apologizing.

Ever since Eva left him, his best friend had being beside him. He had solely took great care of his kids while he toil around for greener pasture. And now things are well for him; he's got little period to spend times with his childhood buddy.

That's bad, it makes him feel ungrateful even when his best friend sees it as nothing. William; indeed is a good friend, a significant part in his life.

"Please take a seat," he offered politely, his manly hand motioning at the seat opposite his.

"Oh, please, don't make me feel like an old man," William joked, his legs cat walking to the seat and his comment stimulated Roman to chuckle as he joined him.

"Hope my kids are great? Oh my, I have missed them so much! I'm sure they'd be bored right now, it's all my fault, I haven't gotten enough time to spend with them," William grouse, his left left crossed over the other as he sulk his lips.

Rowan chuckle again. "You don't have to worry, I already gotten a baby sitter hireling for them," he disclosed.

"Really?!" William asked, surprisingly. He knew how the kids had dismissed the previous workers.

Roman nods in confirmation. " Yeah!"

"Wow! That's good, I'm glad, they must love her a lot. I can't wait to see her," William said, his face smiling sheepishly but then, Roman rolled his eyes at his girly melodramas.

"Whatever," he mumbled.

"So, uhh... Why don't we go have a drink, huh? It's being a while and we a lot to catch up with," William told and Roman flickers his brows at him.

"Alright," he nods and stood to his feet likewise his William instantaneously.

Quickly, he snatched his cellphone and left his office while his best friend trails behind him.

Within a few minutes, both men got to the parking a lot. William did the driving after Roman had signaled his driver to go home with his car.

Along the highway, William drove, the scenery in the car was reserved and tranquil as the outcries of the cars in the highway could be heard.

"Eva, came back," Roman broke the silence.

"What?!" William exclaimed shockingly. "Speak of a witch, she is. How come I didn't know of this, huh? She's nut," he cussed angrily, his fist spanking the steering.

"I don't know what she wants, although she said she wants the kids back. But then, you don't expect me to hand over my kids to her, never. Not after what she did to me, to us. And right now, I can vividly sense it that she's up to no good," Roman told and William scoffed, his head held forward as he struggled to concentrate on his driving.

"Like seriously?" William frowned, his head tilts at Roman before quickly looked ahead again.

"Really. To be sincere, I don't know what to do. I simply don't want troubles with her or anyone, I already have enough. I'm barely picking up the pieces of my life and right now, she wants to crack the little I could master up," Roman expressed, his head rested on the headboard as he shuts his eyes.

"She's a vicious woman, you've got to be careful, okay?" William told and Roman nods, his eyes still closed and then, they got to a bar.

William got down and Roman did likewise as they both strides to the door. However, William halted when his phone abruptly rang up.

Shoving his phone out, he glance at the screen and saw a notification instead.

"Oh, no," he mumbled, sadly.

"Huh? What's wrong?" Roman asked curiously, yet concerned?

"I'm sorry Roman, do you think you can pass here alone? I have to pick up my girlfriend at the airport, she just arrived," William told remorsefully.

Roman chuckled grimly. "It's fine," he replied and William nods, he shook Romans arm before departing while Roman heads into the bar.

Thankfully, the weren't any a glint soul in the picture, only the bartenders and the flashing lights were in exhibition.

Shortly, Roman was already seated as he was being served a bottle of vodka which he had ordered. The male bartender left the spot while he wallow in deep emotions with his drink.

Momentarily, a young pretty blonde walked into the bar. She wore a skimpy pink gown which barely conceal her desirable thighs. Her hand clutched her purse as she advances towards Roman.

Meanwhile, Roman's scrutinising eyes were on the young lady coming his way. He knew her, definitely. She looks familiar, but where?

Wait a second! Now he recollects her, she was the lady he had accidentally knocked down that night.

No way.

"Hey!" She quickly waved her hand while situating her butt on the seat opposite his.

"It would be nice if you ask for permission first," he replied instead and she giggled girlishly.

"I thought that wasn't important," she replied.

"It... It's is," he tells and she nods.

"Well," she signed afterwards. "My name is Carmen Martinez," she introduced, her hand timely putting forward for an handshake. However, Roman didn't reciprocate just immediately.

"I won't accept that kind gesture," he told.

"Why? I don't bite, do I?" She shrugged, her hand nevertheless, putting forward.

"I didn't say you do, I just won't accept it until you tell me why you ran away that day without a word," Roman said, his hand lowers the crystal glass on the table.

"You have quite a good memory, I thought you wouldn't recognise me," she smiled, retrieving her hand back to herself.

"If I didn't recognise you, I won't let you seat with me," he revealed, his ocean blue eyes narrowed at her and he could swore she was marveled.

"I see, well I'm sorry about that," she told, and then, standing up on her feet.

"Your welcome, and I apologise about the accident,  I'm truly pleased your good and didn't sustain much injuries," he told, his eyes scanning every inch of her body for any red bruises.

Carmel smirked mischievously. "It's fine, anyway." She told, she insert her finger into her bra seductive as she plucks out a red card and placed it in front him.

"That's my card," she told, watching him keenly as he takes it and prowls his eyes on it's veneers and writings.

"You're a model, interesting," he stifled a smile, he looks up to her again.

"Let's call it a night," she said rather.

Nodding scantily and then, she veered around as she walks away, her butt swaying sideways while Roman glued his eyes on them.

"What a night," he murmured, gazing back at her card.

                     ****************************

It was pure night already, and Rowan wasn't back yet. Rose was worried and she had to leave for her home early before it gets late, the kids had just finished their meals and they seated in the living room with her.

"You look troubled, Aunty Rose," Christine piped, her voice carries an evidence of concern.

"I'm fine, sweetheart, don't worried about me," Rose smiled. However, the kids could tell it wasn't genuine.

"You sure?" Christopher asked this time, he cute green eyes piercing at her.

"I am," she nods. "So, tell me, how was school today?" She asked. Christine sullen her lips and Christopher scoffed aloud.

"It was good but Christopher made it a hell for me, he pulled my hair!" Christine cried out, moving away a bit from the couch as she crumpled her small arms to her chest.

"What?!" Rose shrieked. "Why Christopher?!" She  asked further, she was shocked as well because she knew how much he cherish his twin sister.

"Aunty, she started it. She's being childish this days and she needs to learn," he replied to her.

"Apologize" was all Rose could say.

"What?! Aunty she should be apologizing and not me," he told, he threw Christine a dead glare of which she snapped her head to the TV away from his sight.

"Now, Christopher," Rose demanded and Christopher heaved in defeat.

"I'm sorry... Christine," he grumbled, his eyes grew dark as bitterness ate him up heavily. He hated been blamed anytime he considered himself right.

Rose noticed his appearance, she swiveled her eyeballs at his reactions and then, she ruffled his hair fondly and that works; it soothed him as his hoisted shoulders slumped down.

"Christine is your sister, you twin sister. You don't have to get mad at her no matter what she does, she loves you a lot and I'm certain you do too. Never let your emotions overtakes your soul, your more than that. Do you wanna see her hurting? Do you wanna make her feel unloved?" She asked and slowly, he slowly wavered his head sideways.

"Good, I'm sure you wouldn't want that no matter how you try to hide the fact that you weren't affected. And besides, how would you want your daddy to feel, huh? He'd be totally disappointed. So please, next time, don't fight with her, okay? If she does anything wrong, you come talk to me or you talk to daddy, okay? We are both here to listen to you," she told and Christopher nods.

"I'm sorry, Aunty," he apologizes again.

"Its fine my love, and that goes the same for you, Christine," she tells, snapping her head at the kid who withheld her hardened expression

What a feisty girl she's gonna be.

"Yes, Aunty Rose," Christine mumbled. And Roses to peck hair while she does the same to Christopher.

"That's touching,"

They heard a knowledgeable voice and they all snapped their head at the door.

"Daddy!" Both of the kids screamed happily, sailing out of the couch to run up to him while Rose exhaled deeply in relief as she stood to pick up her bag from the table.

"I missed you both," Roman said as he leaned down to kiss up their cheeks and they reciprocated to his.

"Why don't you both run up to your room, I will be with you shortly," he told them and they nodded. Running up to their room after they bade Rose welfare.

Roman straightened up as he took his eyes to Rose who was advancing his way nervously and halted in front of him.

"Thank you for staying with the kids," he said gratefully.

"It's fine, it's my duty anyway," she said, picking on her fingers as she crack her eyes away from his captivating orbs.

Unexpectedly, her heart began palpitating as her hand become sweaty. A cold sensation engulfs the scenery as both souls stood opposite each other.

"Why isn't he saying anything?" She thought mentally, gulping down dryly as she felt his hot gazed on her.

Meanwhile, Roman was mesmerised by her looks again, his eyes slowly moves down to her small pinkish lips as she bites it softly.

That intensely stimulated his immune as he took a step forward to her. He couldn't tell if it was the effect on the alcohol on him or its just his self doings.

Nonetheless, Rose took a step and a step back till her back collided with the wall and Roman stood near to her.

She closes her eyes, her body visibly shuddering as she felt as if his body is emitting a fiery flames to her. She felt as if she'd go insane any moment.

What was her boss doing?

Unexpectedly, Roman cup her jawline with his right fingers, brushing them softly as if checking out their refined surface while his head was leaning down to hers.

"Don't fucking tell me, he's gonna kiss me!!" Rose screams mentally, her body vibrated helplessly as she felt him leaning closer in one second after second. Her heart beating rapidly more than usual.

Oh no.
