Chapter Four

Someone knocked on his door.Henry stood up, walked to the door and pushed it open. 

“Sorry sir. I want to ask you if you’re ready to eat. It’s time for dinner.” Brian,Henry’s assistant said.

“Don’t bother about it. I will go and get something for myself when I’m done. You can go.” Henry said and closed the door.

He went back to his room and finished what he was doing,grabbed his phone and went out to get dinner for himself.

He met a young lady in front of the elevator who was also going to take the elevator downstairs. 

Ann’s pov

Ann saw a man standing in front of the elevator and greeted him but he did not respond to her greeting.

“He’s so rude.” She thought to herself. 

They both took the elevator and went to the hotel’s restaurant for dinner. They ate at different tables quietly and few minutes later Ann stood up to leave when she got a clearer picture of the man in front of her. 

“That’s him,or am I getting him confused with someone else?” Ann said to herself. She left the restaurant shaking,shocked beyond words. 

Henry saw her leaving but was not concerned. He thought she was one of the numerous ladies who would do anything to have him. He shakes his head and continues with his food. 

Ann got to her room and called Martha. 

“Martha, I saw him.” Ann said as soon as Martha picked the call. 

“Who did you see? Can you calm down and tell me what’s going on?” Martha answered.

“I saw the mystery guy,just now at the restaurant.” Ann said. 

“How is that even possible? Are you sure he is the one? Did you talk to him?” Martha asked her. 

“I couldn’t even bring myself to talk to him.” Ann replied 

“We can’t be sure yet Ann. He might just look like him.” Martha said.

“I’m very sure he’s the one. I cant even miss him with anyone else.” Ann said. 

“I have an idea. We still don’t know exactly what happened that night,so I don’t want you to rush and spoil things.” Martha said.

“So what do you think I should do?” Ann asked.

“Since you saw him at the restaurant,then he must also be in that hotel,why don’t you look for him tomorrow and talk things out.” Martha replied.

“He doesn’t even recognize me.” Ann said.

“We both know that’s possible,he was tipsy that day so you can’t blame him for that.” Martha pointed out. 

“But I do. What if he doesn’t even remember what happened that day? What if he doesn’t care? He might be a jerk you know.” Ann said in a worried tone. 

“Be positive for once. Even if he is,then it’s better for you to know now so that you can finally move on from this unrequited love,it’s been three years girl.” Martha said. 

“It would have been easy if everything ended that night,but there’s Ella.” Ann said.

“You’ve been doing a great job with her. Bringing this guy into your life can not make that big of a change,and that is if he’s even ready to come into your life. I don’t want you to get disappointed again.” Martha said. 

“Let me talk to him first and see how it will go.” Ann replied. 

“That’s a good idea. Just go to bed for now. We will talk tomorrow.” Martha said and they ended the call. 

It was a bright morning. You can hear the sounds of birds chipping and cars coming in and out of the hotel. 

Ann woke up and checked her phone for any missed calls,text or mails. She definitely didn’t sleep well all through the night. Meeting this mystery guy was all she could think about but then again,she’s here for a purpose. 

When she was fine with that,she took the files and went through it again. She hates mistakes and she definitely doesn’t want to lose this contract because of her own clumsiness.

She went into the bathroom,showered,and did her normal morning routine. She picked a very nice shirt and office pant. A 3 inches high heel and a bag to match. She combed her hair in a ponytail and after checking herself,she walked out of the room with the files in her hands.

Linda was already waiting for her at her doorstep when she came out. She took the files from her and greeted her.

“Good morning ma”. Linda said.

“Good morning Linda, how was your night?” Ann replied trying to hide the fact that she is worried about someone. 

“It was okay,thank you ma” Linda said as they walked towards the elevator. Few minutes later,they were already outside. They entered the car and drove to the company where the meeting will be held. 

Henry woke up,showered and dressed up in a nice shirt and suit and walked out of the room with his assistant behind him carrying his laptop and some files. They also headed towards the elevator and went downstairs and entered a car that was already waiting for them. 

About twenty minutes later,they arrived at the company and they were directed by the person in charge. They sat down in the conference room and waited for the director’s arrival. 

Ann recognized Henry immediately she entered the room.

 “Is he the one we are partnering with for this project?” Ann asked her assistant. 

“Yes ma’am.” Linda replied. 

“This is more than a coincidence. I need to use this opportunity to get what I want.” Ann thought inwardly.

She kept staring at Henry like she was expecting him to notice her and recognize her but Henry find her irritating instead. 

“He doesn’t recognize me.” Ann said disappointed.

A man in his fifties entered the conference room, and they stood up to welcome him. 

“Good morning sir”. They all chorused. 

“Good morning,please be seated.” The man replied. He is the CEO of Julius corporation.

“This is Henry,the CEO of star’s corporation. They are in charge of the construction of the hotel project we’re about to start.” The man said, pointing to Henry. Henry stood up and greeted everyone. 

“Henry,I finally got his name after three long years.” Ann thought.

“And this is Annabell, the director of stone designing company. They are in charge of the interior and exterior design of the hotel.” Ann stood up and greeted everyone.

“The two companies will be working together on this project. I want a perfect job with no mistakes. I have seen the jobs you have done and I’m convinced you’re going to deliver the best.” The CEO said.

“We won’t disappoint you sir.” Ann said

“Trust us to deliver the best sir.” Henry added.

Ann looked at him and their eyes met but Ann was quick to shift her gaze. 

“What is wrong with this lady?” Henry thought.

The man sat down and asked them to present what they had prepared. Henry submitted a blueprint which was displayed on the projector. He explained adequately what he had planned for the construction and everyone was convinced. He finished his presentation and they applauded him. 

Ann also presented her own project,and they were amazed by her level of intelligence. She made reference to different excellent projects she had worked on. From her presentation,it was obvious that she knows what she’s talking about,she has done her own research and is well versed in that line of business. 

She made it easy for everyone to understand her point,she showed them different ideas she had come up with for the project and earned a wow from the CEO. Everyone applauded her when she was done with the presentation. Ann could not believe she gave such a brilliant presentation even in her current situation but she was determined to get Henry’s attention and she got it. 

The meeting ended for the day and they scheduled to meet the following day for final approval.

On their way back to the hotel,Ann approached Henry and asked him out for lunch.

“I’m really sorry for what I’m about to say but if you don’t mind can we talk over lunch? I really have something important to discuss with you.” Ann said.

“I don’t think I want to listen to whatever you have to say. Judging from the way you’ve been staring at me all day,I think I know what this is all about.” Henry said conclusively and was about to leave when Ann said something. 

“Since you don’t want to talk over lunch then I can say it here. Do you remember the lady you had a night stand with about three years ago at Crescent hotel where a birthday party was held? Ann said out loud for him to hear as she was pissed with his last response. 

“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?” Henry yelled at her.
