"Why the fuck did you do that?" Hades's words were nearly lost in his hiss. Both of his eyes were open and both of his paws held the crystal sphere. "I... had... the power to save him!"
He stared with red rage into the swallowing dark of King's gaze. Though any contact with Doll had been broken, the energetic connection the Elementalist made with the Black Devil was boiling over. Hades didn't have direct control over his own auric magick but he felt stronger than ever.
"Boy, you need to get your head on straight. That power you think you have, it's not yours, nor is it entirely mine." There was danger in King's tone. Dire warning, in fact, but Hades wasn't sure he cared.
The crystal was allowing him to steal King's auric magick and mold it like his own. King being the Black Devil, notwithstanding, Hades entertained the thought of draining it all for his own purposes. Especially if it was the only way to save Doll. And King seemed vulnerable.

The first thing Hades saw was the ceiling, which was disconcerting because it looked like the top of the wooden coffin he'd been put in just a few days ago.
