Chapter 22

I fell asleep on that sofa, feeling safe in his arms and having one of the most peaceful nights of sleep I had ever had. I didn’t dream and I did not wake until the morning. The sound of bird songs was the first thing I heard and the feeling of warm sunlight that came through the gap in the curtain. There was no more rain, no sound of howling wind, it was quiet and almost tranquil.

When I opened my eyes, immediately began to panic. This was not my room, not the room I was supposed to stay in and not the living room where I had fallen asleep. Was it wall a dream? Did I imagine it all? These thoughts slammed into me one second and disappeared the moment I felt an arm constrict around me. Slowly, carefully I turned my head, hoping I did not wake the man sleeping beside me.
