Kieran's POV,

A sharp knock broke the silence as Gamma Ethan, busted through the study door with rare relief lingering on his face. “Alpha,” he said, panting to catch his breath, “good news from the front. Beta Dexter held the line and retook one of the villages from the Blood Fangs’ army.”

My wolf stirred with a flicker of pride cutting through the fog. “Then where is Dexter? Why are you alone?” I asked leaning forward, my hands braced on the desk.

Ethan nodded, keeping his eyes steady. “He fought like a beast, Alpha. But he’s badly wounded. The healers have him at the village now.”

The words hit like a blow and I jolted up from my chair. “Wounded?” I growled, already grabbing my cloak. “Get everything ready. I’m going to see him.”

Ethan stepped aside as I strode out, my heart pounding crazily. I had already lost Mira—now I couldn’t afford to lose my Beta.

The night air bit at my face as I rode to the recaptured village under the moonlight, the scent of blood and ash still lingering i

Mira’s POV,“Damn it! Damn you, Kyden!”I let out a sharp grunt and shoved the heavy rug aside. The sky was already starting to lighten when I finally gave up exhausting myself searching the room. I’d pulled back all the heavy, swaying silk curtains, checked the walls, even combed over the floor for the entire night. But there was nothing in this room. No way out, no hidden door… nothing!“Ouch! Crap!”I yanked my finger up, seeing blood drip onto the floor. A nail was sticking out of the wooden floor, hidden under the rug, and I’d just caught it. I rushed to find something to wipe the blood, but the cut was already healing on its own. I let out a frustrated sigh, clutching my finger.Of course Kyden wouldn’t lock me in here if there was any way out. I knew I wouldn’t find anything, but I still kept looking, tried to find anything to calm my restless mind. But my pup began kicking me sharply and this time, I had stop walking around the room.By the time dawn was breaking, I slumped on

Mira’s POV,“Kyden, at least let the healer help you,” I weakly muffled in a trembling voice as I stood in his chamber, the floor-to-ceiling window casting morning light on my face. The air felt way too heavy for my nostrils, thick with the scent of dry blood and sweat. He was still wearing that torn shirt, his wounds remained untreated and open.“Are you even listening to my words or am I just speaking to a statue? Kyden, please, at least turn towards me.” I could feel the presence of warm tears at the corners of both my eyes. But Kyden didn’t bother to turn as he ignored my presence completely, his low growl echoing in the room. “You don’t get to tell me what to do, Mira,” he muttered, his tone turning bitter and sharp. “You lost that right the moment you chose him. Now leave me alone and do whatever you wanted to do with that cruel monster.”My heart froze like an iceberg as my tears threatened to spill down. He was acting so stubborn and my wolf began growling crazily to snap him

Mira’s POV,“Walk, Miss Mira. You have to come with us,” a warrior snapped roughly as he gripped my arm, dragging me out of Kyden’s chamber. The door slammed shut behind me, shattering the silence between us.The cold floor bit into my feet, the air growing heavy with the faint stench of blood clinging to my dress. My heart pounded as my throat burning with suppressed anger.“He’s blinded by his envy now,” I thought, my wolf snarling to rip free from my chest. The warriors pushed me forward, forcing me down an unfamiliar hallway. My legs shook, my nose stung with the remnants of dried tears on my face. How could he kill someone so easily! My heart twisted, the image of that innocent warrior’s bloodied throat flashing through my mind again. They finally stopped in front of a heavily carved door and shoved it open. The door creaked, revealing a lavish room gleaming under bright sunlight. Silk curtains swayed against gold-trimmed walls and a bed piled with furs sat neatly in the corner.

Mira’s POV,“Kyden, you’re throwing everything away,” I muttered in a sharp voice, my body still trembling as I tried to steady myself by holding the bedside table beside me. My heart clenched in surging pain, my eyes burning like hell. “You’re losing your soul to your uncontrollable ego and jealousy,” I hissed again, guilt clawing at my chest for creating this situation in our lives. “Nobody will be able to save you from this inferno if you keep acting like this.”“Save your words, Mira,” he muttered, his sharp tone cutting through the quiet room. “I made my choice long ago.” My nose began stinging as my wolf growled desperately, trying to snap him out of his twisted greed.“He’s too far gone. Out of my reach to heal his heart,” I thought, my hands shaking beside me. I stepped closer, my voice turning harsher. “You’re breaking your own heart, Kyden. Stop this madness before it destroys you.” My words echoed through the walls, my eyes remained locked on his back.He stayed still, his

Mira’s POV,“Mira, don’t go yet,” Kieran mumbled in a low voice as he lay on the bed, sunlight filtering through the gauze curtain. “Don’t leave me alone here. At least stay with me until I fall asleep.”I nodded and sat back beside him, his hand grabbing mine almost instantly. “Alright. I’m staying here for a while then.”His lips curved with a faint grin and he shifted, wincing in pain. “Ahh, it hurts. Caress my head, Mira. It helps me sleep faster.”My cheeks flushed, my wolf rolling her eyes, and I huffed, keeping my tone sharp but light. “You’re such a pain,” I said, my heart thudding to touch him. “If you continue bothering me like that, I’ll just leave you alone.”Kieran’s eyes widened and he let out a dramatic scream, clutching his side. “I’m dying here, Mira! All of this happened just because of you! How could you act so cruel to me now?” he mumbled like an unruly child, faking his pain with a sly grin.My heart skipped a couple of beats just seeing his smile and I leaned clo

Mira's POV,“Hey, little wolf, behave in there,” Kieran said in a low voice, deliberately serious as he bowed his head against my lower abdomen. Sunlight was filtering through the gauze curtain, catching his dark hair in a golden glow and my breath was getting caught in my throat. How could someone look so handsome under the morning sunlight!Kieran’s dark eyelashes were trembling slightly as he kept his eyes shut, his head resting in my lap. That sharp jawline along with his neck was now totally exposed in front of me, turning my throat dry in thirst. My hand was tickling to touch his messy hair, to remove those hair locks from his forehead.I gasped, averting my eyes from his face as I didn’t want to let him notice my throbbing heartbeat. I even tried to keep my breathing in control, my cheeks turning crimson in shame.“Damn it! You better control yourself,” I muttered in my mind but my wolf just shrugged off my warning and continued relishing Kieran’s aura. How could I be so shamel
