Lorrie collapsed onto the frigid stone floor, her knees cracking hard against the ruined marble vault. Her trembling hands hovered over Lorenzo’s silent chest before slamming down onto his sternum with frantic force.

"Lorenzo!" she screamed, the sound tearing raggedly from her throat. Her fingers pressed into the side of his neck, searching desperately, praying for the faintest flutter of life.

Nothing.

The skin beneath her fingertips was turning icy, smooth, and utterly devoid of a pulse.

"No."Lorenzo stumbled backward, the physical weight of Lorrie’s words striking him harder than any kinetic blast ever could. His face went completely drained of color, his sidearm dropping an inch as his fingers trembled violently."You're saying... I killed you?" His voice was a raw, breathless rasped whisper, barely audible over the low, thrumming hum of the collapsing chamber.Lorrie’s glowing silver eyes remained locked onto his weeping face. Cold, radiant tears rolled continuously down her cheeks, washing through the soot and dried blood on her skin. "In our first life..." she repeated, her voice layered with the mournful echoes of an ancient past. "...you killed me so our child could be born.""No!" Lorenzo shook his head violently, his chest heaving as panic seized his lungs. "No, Lorrie, no! I would never lay a hand on you! I would die a thousand deaths before I ever hurt you!"From the edge of the shattered dais, the First King threw his head back and laughed. It was a cold,

  • The Bride He Refused to Lose    The Father She Thought Was Dead

The heavy, suffocating silence of the sealed chamber felt like lead in Lorrie’s lungs. Her father’s words echoed through the cavernous gloom, sharp and unyielding, tearing through the fragile fragments of her sanity. When your baby is born, Lorrie Dimitri will die."No," Lorrie whispered, her voice cracking as she shook her head in fierce denial. She pressed her hands flat against her burning abdomen, backing away from the shadow of the man standing on the dais. "No... you can't be my father. My father is dead."The stranger’s features softened, though a deep, agonizing sorrow remained etched into the lines around his eyes. "Look at me, Lorrie. You've grown so strong... so beautiful. So much like your mother.""Don't!" Lorrie yelled, tears spilling over her lashes. "Don't talk to me like you know me! Don't look at me like you have the right!""I know everything about you," he said softly, taking a step down the stone stairs. "I have watched over you from the dark for twenty years.""Y

  • The Bride He Refused to Lose    Three Fathers, One Queen

The darkness inside the void didn't just blind; it crushed. When Lorenzo threw himself through the threshold of the Gate, the realm beyond felt less like air and more like drowning in cold, pressurized oil. Down was up, sound was distorted, and the suffocating weight of ancient sin pressed against his ribs until his lungs screamed for oxygen."LORRIE!" he roared into the abyss, his voice torn apart by the cosmic gale. For an agonizing heartbeat, there was nothing. No light. No direction. Only the terrifying, endless void. Then, her voice drifted through the blackness—faint, strained, and trembling with fear.«Lorenzo...»He slammed his boots into the shifting darkness, steadying himself. "Lorrie?! Where are you?!"«Don't come any closer!» her voice sobbed, echoing from everywhere and nowhere at once. «Please, Lorenzo, don't come for me!»His heart hammered against his sternum like a sledgehammer. "I'm coming for you! I'm not leaving you in this hell!"«No! It's a trap!»"Where are you

  • The Bride He Refused to Lose    The Father of the Unborn King

The word hit the chamber like a physical blow, lingering in the stagnant, soot-choked air.Father.Lorrie stood rooted to the stone, her breath catching in her throat, choking her. The world seemed to narrow until all that remained was the hollow echo of that single, terrifying word. The unborn child resting beneath her hands had not spoken to Lorenzo. It had spoken to the dark, majestic stranger standing before them—a man who bore Lorenzo’s face, yet carried an aura of ancient, undisputed authority.Slowly, agonizingly, Lorrie turned her head to look at her husband. "No," she whispered, her voice trembling so violently it was barely audible above the hum of the Gate. "No... that isn't possible."The stranger’s lips curved into a cold, triumphant smile. "Now you begin to understand, my Queen."Lorenzo’s face was deathly pale. His jaw was clenched so hard the muscles jumped beneath his skin, his hands shaking as he kept his sidearm raised. "Don't listen to him, Lorrie," he gritted out,

Silence. A suffocating, unnatural, absolute silence fell over the ruined mansion vault and stretched for miles across the surrounding estate grounds.Outside, the thrumming helicopter rotors seemed to idle in terrifying reverence. Thousands of elite soldiers, syndicate hitmen, and rogue Guardians stood entirely frozen in place, their weapons slipping from numb fingers, their eyes locked onto the glowing mansion in sheer, paralyzed terror.Inside the vault, no one breathed. Lorrie dropped her gaze to her stomach, her hands shaking so violently she could barely keep them flat against her dress. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird."What... what was that?" she whispered, her voice barely carrying across the dust-filled air.No one answered. The air itself felt heavy, charged with the crushing weight of a divine presence. Then, Leo stepped forward, his small fingers reaching out to touch his mother's sleeve. "Mom..."Lorrie looked down at her son, her tears blurring he

Lorrie shrieked, her voice echoing off the cavernous walls. "Rafael, get over here! Help him!"Rafael scrambled across the blood-slicked stone, throwing himself down beside Lorenzo. He pressed three fingers into the carotid artery, channeling his diagnostic aura. A faint silver light flickered at Rafael's fingertips, then withered into ash. His face drained of every drop of color."No pulse," Rafael whispered, his voice hollowed out by disbelief. "Lorrie... there's no life force left in hi
