Blake’s POV

This was turning out to be the absolute worst day of my life. No, scratch that, the worst day of my life was the day I found out my father was a killer, and not just any killer but the one killing off women and children just for the sake of it.

The only thing that almost beat that was the day I was almost killed in the alleyway just to pay for his sins.

Today was different though, but it was starting to feel like the worst. All the people that were supposed to be here weren’t here on time.

I was supposed to be opening the bakery today, not officially because we still had few things left, but still…

Roman was supposed to bring me but he said he had to run an errand for the alpha. The alpha, Ridge, who also could have brought me, had to be in a business meeting, and that shit was annoying.

It wasn’t annoying because he was going to a business meeting, it was just how much he had been hiding something lately, texting someone and then taking calls, ones he had to tak

Ridge’s Pov “Nabi?” Blake said, looking around like she had just realized she wasn't here, then she said. “I thought you sent her on an errand. I haven't seen her today.” I frowned because that was weird. “I haven't seen her either. I woke up this morning and went for a run, but she wasn't at the house. I thought maybe she had gone for her run or something.” I said. Blake's frown deepened, and she pushed back from me a little. “You haven't seen her today as well?” she asked. “Then something is definitely wrong.” I knew that, and I could already see the wheels turning in Blake’s head. That was something I didn't like, having her think up some conspiracy theories right now wouldn't help, so instead of voicing my worries, I said. “Nah, I don't think so. Maybe she had an errand to run for Mom or something, or maybe she went somewhere and she's tied up there.” “Well, she didn't mention going anywhere to me.” Blake said, and I nodded. “Maybe, but she could have told me and I forg

Ridge’s PovGetting home an hour early before dinner at Mom’s felt like a win. It meant I had time to relax and spend a little time with my wife before we headed over to her place. I was looking forward to walking in, maybe stealing a kiss, seeing what kind of mood Blake was in. What I didn’t expect was walking into my kitchen and seeing Blake playing house; the perfect domestic duo with my sister. Julia was perched on one of the stools at the island, swirling a glass of wine like she lived here. Blake had an apron tied around her waist and was standing at the stove, laughing at something Julia had said as she offered her a spoonful of whatever she was cooking. Her laughter sounded like music to my ear. The two of them were so locked into their little moment, that Blake hadn’t even noticed me walk in. I knew Julia already did, she would have smelled me, but she was pretending I didn't exist here while she sat in my house, hearing my wife laugh. And yeah… I’ll admit it. The scen

Blake’s Pov “So,” Julia said, wiggling her eyebrows at me. “How has it been with Ridge? Did you manage to make my dumb brother fall for you yet?” she asked. I chuckled and shook my head at her. “Do I need to make me fall for me? I thought he should just love me on his own.” I said and she rolled her eyes. “You know what I mean, so be serious.” she said, walking to the cabinet to grab two glasses for the red wine she had just picked out. Only Julia would want to drink wine this early in the day. I knew what she meant, of course, so I nodded as I knead the dough. We were standing in the kitchen, working on my menu and recipe for the bakery, while Ridge had gone to his meeting, and Nabi was still out. Actually, I haven't seen her this morning, but I guess Ridge sent her on an errand or something. I focused back on Julia. “It’s only been three weeks, Juls.” I said. She lifted her shoulder in a shrug. “Have you fucked him, at least? That’s probably the easiest way to get to hi

Blake’s PovOh damn, it was perfect. He was perfect. He was hardly more than a silhouette, this tall, sleep-rumpled, barefoot, sexy husband of mine, standing outside the balcony, watching the new day rise out of the dark sky of the night. It was still barely morning, maybe six, but it was starting to get bright. I stared at Ridge again, checking out his long legs, long arms, and a big coffee mug in an equally big hand, dark stubble on a sharp profile at the break of dawn. He was staring off into the far horizon, but I wondered what was on his mind. My stomach grumbled, and I furrowed my brows, quickly pressing my hand against it, as if to muffle the sound. Ridge didn’t turn around; maybe he hadn’t heard it, or maybe he was just pretending not to, but I watched the corner of his mouth twitch, just barely, like he was holding back a smile. That was probably over something he was thinking about. I pulled the covers up around me and sank deeper into the pillows, still watching

Ridge’s Pov There had been a time in my life when I fell face down into bed at four in the morning, from working late into the night, and then running into the wee hours of the morning, rather than stumbling out of it like I was doing right now. I looked beside me to see Blake sleeping peacefully, and then I sighed. Raking my hair back on my head, I thought about the first thing to do, run, or get myself some coffee? I was going to have a long day today. Roman and Henry were also meeting up with me to go to the new cafe downtown I was trying to acquire, a meeting with the elders to finally start talking about the masked ball, and do all of that in time for the dinner I was having with Mom, my sisters, and Blake at Mom’s house later. It was Dad’s before, but now, it was Mom’s and my sisters stayed there with her when they were not at the pack house. I pushed up finally from the bed, rubbing my eyes with the back of my fingers, before tiptoeing into the closet to get dressed.

Ridge’s PovBlake was in the kitchen with her laptop in front of her when I came in. I had a long day, first at the office at the pack house, then attending the pack council meeting with the elders, half of them grumbling about why we haven’t held or started talking about holding the mask ball this year. I wasn’t really sure why we do that shit when we don’t raised any money from the outside packs or anything like that. My family and few other families are the donating people, and that was that. I rubbed my temple, as I walked to Blake, just as she turned to look at me. “Hey, Ridge. You’re back home.” I said and she nodded. “Yes. In flesh and blood.” I said just to tease her, but she didn’t bite. She looked at me up and down instead, like she was studying me. “You look like shit, Ridge.” She said. “I know, baby. I do look like shit, but that’s because I’m tired. You look like you only just came back in yourself.” I said and she smiled. She opened her mouth to talk, but be
