Blake’s Pov

I woke up to the sound of crashing waves from afar, competing with arguing voices drifting from somewhere downstairs. And then, faint traces of a familiar scent. I blink my eyes opened, my gaze landing on the black velvet box lying on the nightstand, the one that held my wedding ring.

I must have removed it last night before I started baking, and I remembered slipping it into my pocket.

Right before Ridge showed up with a naked woman in his hands.

Okay, I knew I could also describe her in some other type of way than “naked” but no one could blame me now, could they?

It had been a week since we got to this beach house, and shit had managed to find me here.

That must have been why I had that nightmare again last night, and this time, it was with a touch of drama; with me running through the woods.

I wasn't sure if that bloodied woman being here had added that touch, or it was overhearing that it might be about me.

Sighing, I rubbed my face, then held my head in

Blake’s PovThe heavy feel of my eyelids was starting to tire the shit out of me, especially now that I knew I was conscious. I could feel the heat on my skin, and I could hear the steady beep of something close by, rhythmic, too measured to be natural. It wasn’t part of me, not really, but somehow it anchored me, told me I wasn’t completely gone. It took me a minute to calm myself down instead of freaking out like I would normally do when I realized I couldn’t open my eyes. My chest rose, but it felt shallow, weak, as if my lungs weren’t mine anymore. I told myself to stay still, to listen, to wait, and I was still doing that when it happened. Like a shadow sweeping over me, the world shifted. One moment I was trapped in the weight of my own body, and the next I was standing in the middle of the woods. Not just any woods… the woods. The smoky haze, the branches arching above like claws, the ground damp beneath my bare feet. My heart stuttered because I knew this place. I had walk

Ridge’s Pov“I think releasing him like you suggested would lead us to Ryder, alpha.” Roman said and I nodded. He was talking about the delivery guy, the one that had brought my wife the flowers on our wedding day, but I wasn't thinking much about that. All I could think about was the meeting with the elders, telling them everything that had been happening, blackmailing them emotionally if I had to for the nuisance they had allowed. Oh yeah, I found out Clarissa had approached them and told them I “abandoned” her with Honey, and didn't want to have anything to do with me, and instead of coming to me to ask if I was true, they told her she could announce it to the pack, so that way I would take responsibility. Such prudence. Roman shifted on his feet, watching me carefully, and as if he could read my mind, he said. “You sure you want to take this to the elders yourself, Alpha? They won’t like being cornered.” A humorless laugh tore from my chest. “Good. Let them choke on their

Ridge’s Pov The moment I entered into my mother's house, I started to yell for where Clarissa was, but no one answered me. My mother was in the sitting room, her hands folded, and I could tell she was tensed. Nina wasn't anywhere I could see, but I was sure she was somewhere crying, because she had heard the news by now. That was the way my baby sister reacted to news like this. Julia was right behind me, toeing around and trying to get me to calm down. “You don't really need to do this, Ridge.” she said, her voice small and cautious, and she also knew not to touch me. I looked behind me with my eyes squinted, warning her without having to say anything. “I know, I know. You're angry, but you have to calm down, or you're going to do something you'll regret.” she said. “Regret?” I growled, my voice low but sharp enough to make Julia flinch. “The only thing I regret is letting her back into this house in the first place.” “Mom did that,” Julia said, giving Mom a look over he

Ridge’s PovFor a long moment, all I did was stand there. I couldn’t move, breathe or even think because my head went blank, and it seemed like I had lost all sense of reasoning. A coma. The word rang in my head like a death sentence. Finn’s lips kept moving, but I didn’t hear a damn thing any longer. My eyes were glued to the trauma room door, where Blake was lying; my wife, my mate, my everything, and I couldn’t get to her. I couldn’t hold her. Couldn’t pull her back. It was Roman’s hand on my shoulder that dragged me out of the haze. “Alpha Ridge,” he said low, steady, the only anchor I had right now. “You need to listen.” I blinked hard, tearing my gaze from the door, and focused on Finn. His face was pale, drawn tight, like he’d aged ten years in half an hour. “We’ve controlled the bleeding for now,” he said carefully, “but she’s very weak. The baby…” He hesitated, like he was afraid I would shatter if he spoke the words aloud. “The baby that survived is small, but holding on

Ridge’s Pov“Where the fuck are the doctors?” I asked Roman as I walked back into the common room. The damn party had been interrupted and over, so everyone had either gone back home or to their respective chambers in here at the pack house. They knew we’ll not to cross me. Roman looked down at his phone, and then at me. “They both just arrived.” He said. I wondered why we had to wait two solid hours for the two doctors we had here in the pack, but then again, they were probably at work, which was why they couldn’t even make the party in the first place. We walked out of the common room to the front door, where the doctors were already getting out of their cars. “Good evening, Alpha R…” “Keep your greetings to yourself, and get to my wife.” I said. “Where is she?” One of them asked and I grunted. “She’s in my chambers. Follow me.” I said and started towards the elevator. A few minutes later, we were there, and the doctors started to examine Blake. I stood at the sid

Blake’s Pov Groaning, I turned gently, my body reacting to the move with pain, and I winced. I could hear a sudden shuffle from somewhere inside the room, and when I forced my eyes open to see who it was, I realize that I couldn’t. “God, she’s been unconscious for a couple of hours now, Mom, and this is all Clarissa’s fault. You should have never have allowed her back here. You shouldn’t have given her a place to stay when she came back.” I heard Julia’s voice. I started to wonder if she was talking to her mother on the phone until I heard Elaine’s voice. She was in the room as well. “Are you saying it’s somehow my fault?” She asked. I heard Julia scoffed, then she said. “I’m not saying it’s your fault. I’m saying you shouldn’t have given her the chance to come back.” She said. “Do you even hear yourself? Are you making any sense?” Elaine asked, her voice kind of low, even though I could hear it clearly. “Of course, you get defensive Mom. Don’t think I don’t know you allo
