Blake’s Pov

Deep in sleep an hour after Elaine left, I stirred, and even though I was not sure why, I knew something had woken me up. I wasn’t fully conscious yet; as I was half caught in a dream, but some part of me sensed the shift in the room, the change in energy, the faint sound of movement.

Footsteps I heard were soft and careful, then I felt the bed dipped behind me.

A moment later, an arm slid around my waist, strong and familiar, drawing me back into the warmth of a body of the person I had come to know. My spine curved into the hold instinctively, my muscles recognizing him before my mind did.

I exhaled slowly, the tension in my chest loosening. “Ridge.” I called his name, as if to confirm.

He didn’t say anything at first and just buried his face into the crook of my neck, breathing me in like he had been waiting to come here to me all night. His scent; pine and earth and something darker, settled my nerves in a way nothing else could. I realized how badly I had needed that

Blake Pov The music began in the old church, playing so soft, echoing, and reverent, as the heavy wooden doors creaked open for me. I stepped forward, one hand wrapped tightly around Kenny’s arm, the other gently gathering the edge of my gown to stop it from dragging too soon. The dress flowed behind me in smooth, endless folds of white silk. The fabric had a weight to it, like history pressing against my back. Kenny was dressed in a navy blue suit that brought out the seriousness in her expression. Her normally mischievous eyes were steady, gentle even, as she looked over at me and whispered, “Are you ready? Are you sure? Are you fine?” she asked all in one breath. I swallowed. My lips were already curled into a soft smile, I couldn’t afford to look like I was breaking apart inside, at least, not today. “I’m fine,” I replied, nodding once. “I promise.” She gave me a small skeptical look but didn’t push with the question. Instead, she walked forward with me, slow and deliberat

Ridge’s Pov “You should really start getting ready, Alpha,” Roman said, arms crossed, an eyebrow raised like he was trying to keep the irritation out of his voice but failing. Normally, I would have just rolled my eyes at him because I knew how much Roman could be a pain in the ass just to hasten one up, but in this case, I knew it was right. It was my wedding day, and I was happy to do it, so I should be showing that in my eagerness. The only thing was, I couldn't seem to finish this up on time. I sighed, rubbing my eyes with the heel of my hand. “I know, I know. Just give me five more minutes. I need to finish up this treaty report. The ceremony’s still at one.” I said. Roman didn’t move. “It’s eleven o’clock already. It's going to be time before you know it.” he said. I blinked and glanced at the clock on my screen. Shit. He was telling the truth? Where the hell had the morning gone? I was still expecting it to be around ten or something. It felt like I had only eaten br

Blake’s Pov“You’re glowing,” Julia declared, holding a brush in one hand and an intimidatingly large makeup palette in the other, her brows drawn together in focused determination. “Like a glowing, radiant sunbeam goddess.” She and her sister, Nina were becoming fast friends to me, and they made sure this place wasn't as boring or odd as I thought it would be. Today was my wedding day, and they were trying to get me ready, and I was already feeling all mushy here. I was nervous too, but it was a good nerve. “You’re going overboard,” I muttered, my smile betraying my feigned annoyance as I glanced down at my phone again. The message Ridge had sent was still open on the screen. It wasn’t long or elaborate, but it didn’t need to be. When I had first seen the text, I had been a bit surprised, considering I hadn't seen him in a couple of days. According to him and Roman, he had had to travel for business, and he had got back in last night, but he had came to find me, and sent me thi

Ridge’s Pov “Roman!” I snapped, my voice sharp enough to cut through the tension that he had now created in the car, but it was already too late. Blake’s head had turned toward me like a hawk catching a glint of movement. “What is he talking about, Ridge?” she asked, her voice low and edged with disbelief. Her mouth parted slightly, like the idea alone that there was another way I hadn't mentioned to her had knocked the air from her lungs. And then Mom chimed in as well, her brow raised and tone dry. “Yeah, what exactly is he talking about, Ridge?” she asked me. I sighed, dragging a hand over my face. The pressure behind my eyes throbbed as I glared into the rearview mirror at Roman, who; like the traitor he was, avoided my stare with a shrug and a muttered, “It came up. She had to know eventually.” Of course, I knew she had to know, but he shouldn't have said anything until I said it myself. I was sure he knew how this was going to make me look in front of Blake, and I was not

Blake’s PovThe metal door clanged shut behind us, and I swear the sound echoed through my spine like a warning bell. I didn’t breathe… it was more like I couldn’t… until we were halfway down the gray corridor and the fluorescent lights above stopped buzzing like flies in my skull. My teeth were still clenched and my hands were still tightened in fists. I was beyond angry, but I was also a bit relieved. At least, I didn't have to take the fear I had felt when he… my father, first appeared back all the way home. Maybe Kenny was right, she had been up to something because I could also feel my shoulders lighten a bit. Roman was leading us quickly out of there, but he was also calm somehow, his footsteps seeming measured and military. Ridge stayed beside me the entire time, never letting his hand fall from the small of my back. It wasn’t possessive… just steadying. Like an anchor when you’re being dragged under. I didn’t speak until we stepped outside and the sun hit my face. Even

Blake’s PovHis eyes passed over Ridge, and then finally, Roman. “Brought two bodyguards to see your old man, huh? What, you think they’ll protect you from me? From the truth?”His grin widened again, and my stomach rolled. He always did this, made everything a performance, and every conversation a game of control. But before I could respond, Ridge spoke. His voice sounded calm, too calm actually, almost cold. But it also sounded steady.“I’m Ridge Sterling,” he said, his voice like ice over stone. “Alpha of the Grey Moon Pack.”My father’s eyes flicked to him again, intrigued now, like a snake noticing movement in the grass.“What's that?” he asked, as if he didn't know what it meant to be an alpha. It was either that, or he didn't believe he was. Ridge didn't bother to answer his question. Instead, he continued. “I’m not here because Blake need any protection from you. I'm here to make sure she gets what she deserves, what she earned… and that's an closure, and acknowledgement. She
