CHAPTER 8 Don't Be Long

  Mia's POV

Panic is surging through my body but I refuse to let it show. Reality has finally sunk in. I got into a vehicle with a man that I barely know. For all I know he could be taking me back to his pack to hold me hostage.

I blatantly stare at Alpha Thomas as he drives down the road. The rain has finally slowed to a slow drizzle and the clouds have parted enough to provide some moonlight. The light from the moon shines off his face and I have to admit that he is terribly handsome. Even with his jaw clenched and water dripping down from his hair he is one of the most handsome men that I have ever seen. I can tell that he is irritated with me and I can't say that I blame him. It is my fault that he is wet and covered in mud.

"Where are you taking me?" I ask boldly even though my nerves are turning my stomach.

"Back to my hotel," he says shortly, not looking in my direction.

More panic rushes through my body. "I don't know what you have heard about me," I begin, "but I am not that kind of girl."

Alpha Thomas glances over at me and laughs. "That kiss from earlier would say differently."

I can not tell from the look on his face if he is joking or not. While I may not be innocent, I am definitely not sleeping with this man tonight.

"That kiss was to save me from Alpha Richard," I say with a huff.

"How did that work out for you?" Alpha Thomas asks with a chuckle in his voice.

"I am not sleeping with you," I practically screech.

"Who said that I want to sleep with you?" Alpha Thomas says as we pull into a seedy-looking hotel.

I ignore what feels like an insult and look around at the gross hotel that is standing in front of me. "Nope," I say quickly, "I have seen enough horror movies to know what goes on in places like this. I'm not going in there."

Rolling his eyes at me, Alpha Thomas gets out of the car and walks around to my side. Opening my door he gestures for me to get out of the car but I don't budge.

"I already told you two things," I say, crossing my arms over my chest. "First, I'm not sleeping with you. Secondly, I'm not going in there."

Bending down, Alpha Thomas grabs my chin between his first finger and his thumb. He turns my head so I am staring into his hazel eyes. "If I wanted to sleep with you, you wouldn't be able to turn me down, Sassy Pants."

His hazel eyes swirl to black and I know that his wolf is pushing forward to be part of this moment. Alpha Thomas runs his thumb over my bottom lip and I swear that he is going to lean in to kiss me. My breath hitches in my chest as his eye bore into my own. There is a moment that is happening between us but what it is is still unclear.

After what feels like hours, I finally snap back to my senses and slap his hand away from my face and a smirk pulls at the corners of Alpha Thomas's lips.

He stands up straight and holds his hand out for me. "Come on," he says to me with a smile on his face and without thinking I grab his hand and let him lead me out of the car.

As we approach one of the hotel rooms, Alpha Thomas comes to a complete stop. He looks me up and down before he shrugs his jacket off and hands it to me. "Put this on," he says gruffly.

"Why?" I protest. "It is wet."

"Because I can see your... umm... Just put this on," he says and his face heats with blush.

I look down and realize that you can see my nipples through the white T-shirt that I have on. It is my turn to blush and I cross my arms over my chest and try to hide my nipples. Grabbing the jacket out of his hands, I turn my back to him and slip the jacket on. As I spin back around, Alpha Thomas is already opening the door.

Inside I find, Alpha Thomas's Beta sitting on the floor of the hotel room, eating out of a chip bag, and watching smut television. Without taking his eyes off the television, he shoves a handful of chips into his mouth and begins to talk with his mouth full.

"Look at this baby," his Beta says. "He is definitely the father."

Alpha Thomas clears his throat awkwardly and his Beta turns and sees us both standing in the doorway. His Beta jumps to his feet, sprinkling crumbs all over the floor.

"What the fuck?" His Beta shouts. "Did you kidnap her again?"

Alpha Thomas pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs heavily. "No one has been kidnapped. I picked her up alongside the road. She was running away."

His Beta looks at me with wide eyes and mumbles an apology under his breath. He steps back and gives me room to step into the small hotel room.

I look around and wrinkle my nose in disgust. I didn't think that it was possible, but the inside of the hotel is worse than the outside. The room reeks of cigarette smoke and the walls are stained with tar. The bed has an ugly floral coverlet that is faded and tattered. The curtains have the same floral pattern as the coverlet and provide little privacy to the room.

"Don't let anyone in this room while I am gone," Alpha Thomas says and both his Beta and my head snap in his direction.

"You are leaving me?" I gasp out.

"I am leaving you with my Beta long enough for me to negotiate with your father," Alpha Thomas says as he places his hands on my shoulders. "Dylan will keep you safe until I come back."

I look over at Dylan and he gives me an awkward wave.

"What if my father refuses to accept your offer?" I lower my head and whisper.

"Then it is a good thing that I already have you," Alpha Thomas smirks before he places a quick kiss on my forehead.

Both of us are a little shocked by his action and we stand awkwardly and look at one another. "Don't be long," I say quietly as I look around the room once again.

"I won't," Alpha Thomas gives me a wink and heads out the door.

I turn around and look at Beta Dylan and he gives me a stupid grin. "Do you like trash TV?"
