Diana had left the apartment to escape Michelle's desperate please for her to apply for the job at Global Tech so that she could have an inside person in the company. She went down the street and went into a coffee shop since she needed some caffeine in her system. She just didn't see it much of her concern and didn't want to quit her job so that she could apply at the company. While waiting for her turn in line, a young handsome man came and cued behind her waiting for his turn too. She hadn't had the opportunity to look at him better but she could smell his cologne on him and it was kinda intoxicating. It was not that concentrated but it was definitely enough to get her attention. By the time it was her turn to make her order, she was already getting tired of standing and when she walked up to the lady, her smile faded. The lady had on this no nonsense look and barely smiled back to any the customers. She ordered her coffee black with some cream on it to which the lady at the reception just wrote it down without any expression on her face before going to get her order. Just as she was about to place that order, the guy behind Diana spoke up
"I'll take mine the same way" the guy said over her shoulder. Diana was not expecting this therefore she turned shocked a little bit. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you" the guy added
" No worries" Diana said to him before turning to the lady taking the order," make that two please " she requested
"Whatever" the lady said as she placed the order
" What an enthusiastic lady" the guy whispered in a sarcastic tone which made Diana chuckle a bit.
"Tell me about it" she said as she leaned back a little. When their orders were ready, Diana was about to pay but the young man swiped his card paying for both of the orders to her surprise.
"You didn't have to do that" Diana said when as she turned to him and handed him his coffee
"You saved me from having a whole conversation when ordering my coffee, it's the least that I could do" the guy said. "I'm Ryan by the way" he said as he stretched his hand for a handshake
"You could have let me pay for my own coffee, I don't like when someone else does that. I'm Diana by the way" she responded as she started walking towards one of the booths at the coffee shop. The booths were made such that they could accommodate only two people per table and in the whole shop, only one was available. So when Diana went and had her seat, Ryan was left scanning to see if there was another open booth. He walked towards her booth but it's like he had second thoughts about sitting there when he looked at her. He slowly walked by her while still sipping his coffee. Diana looked over her shoulder and around the shop to see if there was any available slots but she saw none. After contemplating whether to ignore Ryan or not, she finally gave in
"You can seat here" she said to him since he was standing behind her waiting for a seat to be available. Ryan turned and gave her a warm smile before sitting down across from her.
"Thank you" he said in a low voice
"No problem" she responded
"I thought I had offended you, that's why I was steering clear from you" Ryan said with some humor to it which made Diana smile slightly
"Well, I don't make it a habit of wanting to get my things done by another man" she said
" Definition of independent right there " Ryan said amused
" I actually just think of it as me being able to get my things done without needing unnecessary help. When a guy does this, you don't hear people calling him independent. He's just being a guy who can get his things done" Diana reasoned
" That's the first time I've heard that and I completely agree with you. That's some good reasoning right there " Ryan said," anyway, I'm new in town and I just hope that this place is what it's said to be"
" And what's that? " Diana asked a bit curious about what the city's reputation was to the outside world
"One of the top ones is there are a lot of opportunities in this city, in terms of career, love and life" Ryan said
" And which of the three are you looking for in the city of Georgia? " Diana went on
" Mostly career and life" Ryan answered
"Well, that's a surprise. It's the first time I've heard a person who has come to Georgia and is not looking for love" Diana said
" Some things aren't built for people like me" Ryan said
" I smell a dark past concerning your love life, and I'll respectfully not ask anything about that. So, what are you looking for in terms of career? " She asked
" Well, I'm thinking of starting a company here. You know, have a few staff here and there. Make a killing out of the sales and that sort of thing "Ryan answered
" Big dreams deserve big leaps" Diana commented
" I know. I just hope that it'll be a success or else it would have been a complete waste of my time and resources " Ryan said
The conversation went on for a while with some moments of awkward silence here and there. After a while, Ryan had finished his coffee and excused himself to leave without asking for her number or trying to get her to meet him for another chat, something which she liked because she was in no mood to turn him down despite him being good looking and humble
THREE MONTHS LATER It's a beautiful day, Christian,Mitchell, Rodriguez, Olivia and everyone else isenjoying the company of each other while waiting for the big news that Ryan was set to announce. From the beginning of the year, Global Tech's popularity had skyrocketed ever since they came learn who the actual founder was. It was news that spread like wildfire across the nation and globally.Christian is engaged in a very engaging conversation with Rodriguez while the girls were just standing by the side watching them and laughing as they marveled at what it took for the guys to be distracted so easily."How's Diana?" Olivia finally asked Mitchell in a hushed tone. She had been filled in on that happened over the course of the previous year by Rodriguez and Christian since Ryan asked her not to bring up the conversation when she was with him."She's doing a bit better. It'll take a lot for her to get back to where she was one year ago, but atleast there's some progress." Mitchell answ
A few days have passed and everyone is back home. Christian and Mitchell are still linking up and getting to know each other more as they soon realize that they might end up actually starting to date each other. Rodriguez is at Ryan's residence and Diana keeps flooding his phone with voicemail. It's just a day before New Year's Eve and Diana is worried sick by now. Ever since Ryan walked out on her while in the Bahamas, no one had heard or seen him since apart from Rodriguez who picked him up from the airport a few hours later. Now, since they came back, Diana had been trying to get a hold of him with no dice. She couldn't go to his residence since Christian passed the information from Rodriguez that she was barred from entering the home. She couldn't go to the company since they were closed down. She couldn't ask Olivia who was away on her vacation.By now, Diana was getting too worried about Ryan. She understood that he didn't want to see her but the fact that he couldn't be found a
It's Christmas Eve, Diana couldn't contain her excitement when she was with Mitchell in their hotel room. From the moment she woke up, her face lit up as the morning rays hit her skin."Someone's excited about today," Mitchell commented as she watched Diana take her breakfast."Of course I am, Ryan is going to propose today," she squealed excitedly." Just a reminder, don't get too excited. Ryan might have different plans," Mitchell reminded her." Fuck other plans, everything that he has been doing for the past few months have indicated to this day. All signs have suggested that if there's a day he will ask for my hand in marriage, today would be it." She told Mitchell confidently. She couldn't help but keep looking at the dress and jewelry that Ryan had gotten her for the night. She couldn't wait to put it on, but she had to wait till evening as the note on the dress had instructed."So, what are you going to do for the night?" Diana asked Mitchell. She was curious on where her best
It was the second week of December. With Global Tech closing it's doors for the end of year holiday for it's staff, Diana was free and so was everyone else. Within a matter of days, Ryan had called her and told her to get ready for they were going to the Bahamas for a week long vacation. He told her that he'll be coming to get her in two days as soon as he finished all the preparations.Mitchell was quick to tell Diana that this was what they were waiting for. Ryan had finally decided to do it. Every hint led to this and it has just started playing out as they had thought it would. Before the day that they were about to fly out, Ryan told Diana that she can bring Mitchell if she wanted to and who was Mitchell to not want to join them. At this point, they could tell that Ryan wasn't even trying to hide the fact that he was rich. To Mitchell and Diana , this meant that Ryan was probably building up to telling Diana his true identity to which Diana was prepared to act surprised and all.
Diana was quiet and tried to keep her mind busy as she was thinking about her next course of action. Mitchell knew that she had said enough and it was up to Diana to decide what to do. This was the first time that Mitchell was seeing Diana being that concerned about matters concerning love. The change that Ryan had brought in Diana was uncomprehendable to Mitchell. She never thought that Diana could be this concerned about a man. However, even as Diana's best friend, Mitchell had a few questions of her own regarding why Diana wasn't willing to risk letting Ryan go.Some of these questions originated from the fact that the had learnt about Ryan's true identity and had even confirmed it for themselves. To Mitchell, it seemed that Diana had turned out to be Justina, just in a different body. To her, this new finding had made Diana more willing to keep the secret and not risk loosing Ryan. This might sound like a bad thought coming from Diana's own best friend. But I know that as you read
"So how are things going on for you and Ryan?" Mitchell asked Diana as they were preparing their food."Things are going great. I mean it's been around six months with him and I can tell that he's really serious with me," Diana answered as she was just taking a seat."Who would've thought," Mitchell said to herself as she sat next to Diana. In her own mind, Mitchell had never taken Diana for a lover girl. He always saw her as the friend who wanted to have fun in the moment. Even as she had dared Diana when they met Ryan, she didn't think it would go this far."Your mind is on to something," Diana said as she urged Mitchell to speak up."I'm just thinking of how things are going. You've changed over the past few months, and I dare say it's because of Ryan" she spilled."Changed? How?" "Come on, you ain't the same person you were an year ago. The Diana I knew, loved to have fun. You know, go out to parties. Go to concerts and the like. Look at you know, talking about how things are goi
