I don’t remember falling asleep. But when I woke up again, it was already bright outside.

Sunlight spilled in through the window, casting golden lines across the floor. The air smelled of herbs and something sweet—maybe honey?

The ache in my chest was still there, heavy and dull. But unlike last night, the pain lessened, probably because I was slowly accepting this painful reality.

I blinked against the light and turned slowly, finding Marcus curled in a chair by the window. His head tilted back, his arms crossed, seemingly deep asleep. His hair was a mess, like he hadn’t left my side all night. And he probably didn’t.

A quiet knock made me flinch.

The door opened slightly, and a girl peeked in, bright auburn hair tied up in a high ponytail, wearing a soft gray sweater and jeans. She froze when she saw me awake.

“Oh my goddess,” she whispered. “You’re up!”

I didn’t get a chance to say anything before she ran to the bed and pulled me into a gentle hug, but she was carefu

I walked towards him, watching him wipe the sweat off his face. “Is there anything I can do for you?” He asked. “No it’s just I…” “Hmm?” He raised a brow at me. Why can’t I say anything? Damn it! I’m looking like a complete fool out here. “I just… I…I wanted to thank you!” It came loudly than expected which took him a back from the way he gawked at me. “For yesterday, I mean…You saved me. Thank you.” He didn’t say anything at first. He just looked down at the ground before nodding. “No need to thank me. I just did what anyone else would’ve done at that moment.” "Still," I said, my voice quieter, "thank you." His gaze finally met mine again. It was softer now, gentler. “Are you okay?" I nodded with a sheepish smile. "Yeah. The pack doctor tended to me last night.” “Good. I was worried.” He was? I stood in silence for a beat. I let out a slow breath and then when my eyes were busy scanning him. I noticed it, his upper shoulder had a little scratch on it.

  • The Broken Luna Returns   Looming Danger

I woke up to the sound of voices going around outside the pack house. And it’s not the kind of sound that I usually woke up to. Something was off. I could feel it before I even left my room. As I padded down the stares barefoot, the voices got louder. People whispered in corners, others paced quietly with worry written across their faces. A few warriors even huddled by the window, they were tense and alert. In fact, everywhere I looked, people seem distracted. What the hell was going on? I turned the corner and spotted Celine near the foyer, talking to someone. She caught sight of me and immediately rushed over to where I was standing. "Hey, there you are," she said, grabbing my arm and gently tugging me to the side. “Are you okay now? Is your body still sore?” “I’m fine, the medicine last night helped,” I replied, scanning the room. “What’s happening? Everyone looks distressed.” Celine sighed, her expression dropping as she massaged her forehead. "The elders are in the counc

My blood turned to ice hearing what he said. His hand reached out and gripped my wrist, not hard, but firm. He gently pulled me behind him, scanning the trees with sharp focus. “There’s more than one,” he muttered. “Go back. Now.” “What? No. I’m not leaving you—” “Ivy, listen to me—” he hissed, but it was too late. The first rogue lunged from out of nowhere. Elijah shoved me aside and met the rogue mid-air. I scrambled to my feet just as more rogues darted between the trees. One…two…Eight! There were eight rogues! We were outnumbered. I looked at Elijah and he was swiftly fending off the rogues attacking him. I focused my gaze on the others and launched myself into the fray. I ducked under a swipe, and sliced a blade across a rogue’s thigh sending him to the ground. Two others tried to corner me but I nimbly jumped in the air and got out two dagger knives wrapped around my waist and skillfully threw it on them, hitting their necks sending them instant death. Pa

Time passed by so quickly. In a blink of an eye, it had already been almost three months since I got here. I wiped the sweat trickling down my chin and looked up from the pack warrior I’d just knocked out of the ring. “You’ve improved.” I turned toward the familiar voice and found Elijah standing at the edge, his arms folded, and a smirk tugging at his lips as he watched me with a face full of interest. I rolled my eyes the moment our gazes met, and he chuckled, he’s probably used to my antics by now. “You sound shocked.” “I’m not. I’m totally impressed. And since I’m your trainer, I’m feeling even more proud.” He puffed out his chest, grinning like a fool. I couldn’t help but laugh at his silliness as he walked away toward the group that was now dragging away the man I’d just beaten, who’s still unconscious by the way. Oopps. I hadn’t even noticed the crowd that had formed until Celina and Jace started cheering from the sidelines. “Didn’t think you’d actually take h

One afternoon, while I was training heavily. Elijah showed up with his usual demeanor. But this time, it was different. He finally stepped in. He really kept his word. "You’re dropping your shoulder again," he said, voice sharp as ever. I paused mid-strike, turned slightly, and squinted at him. Wow! Didn't know he knew how to teach. Tsk! After all this time he was just watching and now he has the nerve to scold me when he just started teaching me? I wanted to tell him off for pointing things out like he was Mr. Training Guru when he barely spoke to me the past few days, but I held back. Celina did mention he could be…well…intense when it came to training. I don't want to get on his bad side. Plus, he's older than me. No matter how much I hated his guts I still need to show respect to people older than me. "I’m trying, okay? This isn’t easy," I muttered under my breath. He didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he stepped closer, placed his hands gently on my shoulders,

  • The Broken Luna Returns   Break, Bend, and Build

Three days passed in a blur and I haven't done aside from waking up, eating, resting and sleeping. Honestly, I'm getting bored. I saw the other day that my other cousins were training, and I wish I could join them. I just didn't thought that my wish would come true so quickly. I was barely awake when all of a sudden my door bursted open and came in Celina with her usual enthusiasm. “Come on,” she said, jumping on my bed, nudging me with her elbow. "Marcus said you’re ready. You’re training with us starting today.” I blinked. “Already?” “You’ve been resting for almost a week. Elijah and him talked, they say if you rest a day longer, your muscles will rot.” I snorted. “Wow. What a motivator.” Celina laughed and looped her arm through mine. “Welcome to the Blackwood family. We call this tough love.” I chuckled at her and prepared myself as she instructed .... They didn't waste time and made me workout the soon I got out. And boy they didn’t go easy on me. Not
