(Selene’s POV)

Cold. That was the only sensation I could feel right now.

When I opened my eyes, I was standing in a forest drowned in fog, the thick mist curling around the trees. My breath came out in little clouds as the silence pressed so thick against me that even my heartbeat sounded foreign to me.

I didn’t know where I was. I didn’t know how I’d gotten here. All I remember was that we were fighting… Right! We were fighting the rogues, then suddenly I was here. Where even am I?

“Selene…”

My eyes darted around when I heard someone call my name softly. It was a gentle voice slipping through the fog like a whisper carried on the wind.

My chest tightened. Why did it sound so familiar?

I spun around, my eyes traveling between the endless silhouettes of trees that stretched boundlessly in front of me.

“Who’s there?” My voice echoed loudly in the mist, yet there was no response.

“I said—who’s there!”
