Chapter 10 The beast beneath

“Dust settles. I don’t.”-Unknown

Elsie POV

I left Andrea in the room once I put her to sleep. Her room was on the first floor while mine was on the second floor. I look around searching for that guy that forced me to be here. I need to settle with him about the contract or whatever agreement that we talked about before this. I can’t be stuck at this place as his puppet for the whole life.

I walked around the mansion alone. Some of the maids were in the kitchen and numerous men patrolling outside the mansion. I don’t know where his room was located so I decided to look for him at his office which located on the third floor. I strolled to his office but he was nowhere to be found. I came back to the second floor and I noticed there were hidden stairs at the corner headed to somewhere.

I just followed my instinct and walked downstairs which unexpectedly it leads me to the basement. It was a bit dark with dim light but my sight could still see the surrounding clearly. It was a huge basement with some cell rooms which built like a prison. It looks creepy and horrible. I saw some alcohol bottles on the wood table and a variety of knives and guns displayed on the wall.

I heard a commotion somewhere nearby. I silently strolled towards the noise and I gasped at what in front of my eyes. I covered my mouth tried not to create any noise that might make them divert their attention to me.

“Time to confess, who was behind all this?”  I heard the familiar voice asking the middle age guy who was tied to the chair. He was in a messy state with his ruffed hair, some bruise along with cuts and blood on his face. It seems like the Grim reaper was ready to take him anytime.

“The next time I repeat myself I assure you that you will lose your head. Now speak, who is your damn boss?!” He yelled at him and sending a punch to his face. There are a few of his men standing beside the guy who tried to hold his face up.

“It was John,” he finally spoke and at that moment I saw the beast pulled the trigger of the gun in his hand and send the bullet straight to his head. My heartbeat almost went into a straight line with the incident that happened in front of my eyes.

My instinct told me that I need to leave that place if I don’t want to cause any trouble but I was terrified to move from there. And suddenly, what happened next almost me my heart dropped.

“Who are you?” Someone clamped my shoulder and scowled from behind. I quickly turned to him and glanced back at the group of people that just shot the guy. As I can sense, they were now sending me death glare for what I just witnessed a moment ago.

“I..I..sorry..I walk to the wrong place,” I stuttered. I felt a hand gripped my wrist and spun my body to face him.

“What are you doing here?” The beast, Dexter Anderson inquired with furiously.

I didn’t answer him, abruptly he pulled me out from the basement to my room. He opened the door and literately threw me on my bed making the foam dripped due to the sudden force.

“What are you doing in the basement?”

“I was looking for you just now,” I confessed honestly.

“Remember, you are not allowed in the basement. That’s the prohibited place.” He bent down and lifted my chin gestured me to look at him straight in the eyes.

“Don’t touch me with your dirty hand.” I snarled remembering what he had done earlier. He just sends me a smug smile.

“Don’t challenge me, love. You won’t like the outcome. Mark my words, you are not allowed to go to the basement again. Not even one step.” He warned.

“Why? Because that’s the place you killed people as you like?” I was scared of him but my smart mouth can’t stop arguing.

“You guess it right. That’s the place I tortured and killed people.” I saw his eyes darken. “You are welcome if you want to be one of them. It will be my pleasure too.”

I can see the beast side of him now.

“Mind your own business. Don’t interfere with everything that happens in this mansion. Your duty is to take care of Andrea and let me advise you, stay away from me will make your life better.”

“Oh, don’t worry. I never thought about coming close to you even an inch.” I interjected.

I mentally marked in my mind that this guy is the beast that I shouldn’t take it lightly. I agreed with him that staying away from him will make my life better.

A mafia with beast beneath him.
