Raven's pov
Chapter 6 – Red Flags and White Lies The bass thudded in my skull, a pulse I couldn’t escape. Lights flashed across the club like warning signs, and I still can't shake the feeming thatsomething was off “Sienna,” I leaned toward her, raising my voice over the music. “We need to go.” She pouted, eyes glossy and unfocused. “But I just found a guy who looks like he owns a yacht…” I grabbed her arm. “Sienna. Now.” Her smile faltered. Maybe it was my tone. Maybe it was the look on my face. But she nodded, slow and hazy. I scanned the room as I reached into my clutch and dialed Marco. “Raven?” His voice was sharp, alert. “Come get us. Now.” He didn’t ask why. He never did. By the time the black SUV slid to a stop at the curb, Sienna was clinging to my shoulder like a sleepy cat. Her heels were in her hands, and she kept mumbling something about shots and betrayal. I didn’t push. “Where to?” Marco asked. “Vitali mansion.” He blinked at me in the rearview mirror. “Are you sure?” “No,” I said. “But go anyway.” The mansion loomed like a secret you regret telling. Cold stone, quiet halls. It was past midnight when we arrived, but the front doors were unlocked. I half-carried, half-dragged Sienna through the entrance, her weight slumped against me. She giggled under her breath, not realizing how tense I was. And that’s when I saw him. Leon was sitting in one of the leather chairs by the fireplace, a tumbler of something expensive in his hand. The fire cast flickering shadows across his face, all sharp edges and unreadable calm. He didn’t look surprised. “You’re late,” he said, voice low. I stopped dead. My arms tightened around Sienna. “Didn’t know I had a curfew,” I snapped. “Last I checked, you weren’t my keeper.” He raised an eyebrow but didn’t rise. Just took another slow sip of his drink. “I see,” he murmured. “Then allow me to free you of the obligation.” I narrowed my eyes. “What?” He met my gaze with something colder than fire. “The engagement is off. You’ll leave my house in the morning.” The words hit like a punch to the chest, sudden, silent, and bruising. I didn’t answer. Couldn’t. Not in front of him. Not like this. Jack is going to kill me, I have to think of a way to salvage this, but not now. I adjusted my grip on Sienna and started walking again, heels echoing down the marble hall. The weight of his words burned in my spine. I said nothing as I guided Sienna to the guest room beside mine. She collapsed onto the bed with a sigh, murmuring incoherent thanks before falling into a drunken sleep. I stood there in the doorway for a long time. Too long. Trying to piece together what I’d missed ,what I’d said or done that made the Butcher decide I was no longer a part of his game. Or maybe I’d never been a player to begin with. Just another piece on the board. And now I was being swept off it. Tomorrow, I’d be gone. But tonight… I wasn’t finished yet, I had to make things right. For my father's sakeChapter 11: The Bride Wore Black IceRaven’s POVA week passes like smoke through fingers, untouched, unbothered, unfeeling.I should feel something today. Nerves, joy, dread. But I don’t.Instead, I sit still as Sienna pins the last clasp of my veil. Her hands are gentle, her face drawn tight with concentration. She’s been quiet all morning, the kind of quiet that tastes like guilt and fear. I don’t blame her.I glance at myself in the mirror. The gown is beautiful,of course it is. Custom-made silk, a shade between ivory and moonlight, clinging to every line of my body like it was painted on. The bodice is embroidered with tiny black pearls that catch the light, the back sheer and plunging, the train long enough to silence a room. My hair is swept into an elegant twist, delicate black pins piercing through the bun like a crown of thorns.I look like a woman walking into a fairy tale. But the mirror knows better.I’m walking into a cage. And I’m not even sad about it.“You’re really ca
Chapter 10 :The Price of ObedienceRaven’s POVI stare at myself in the mirror, unmoving. The dress clings to me like a second skin, black silk, slit high on one leg, the neckline plunging just enough to tempt, not beg. The kind of dress that whispers power but screams danger. My hair is slicked back into a low, glossy ponytail, exposing the curve of my neck and the thin diamond choker circling it like a collar. The earrings I chose, shards of obsidian, catch the light when I turn my head. My makeup is sharp, sculpted, and unapologetic. Red lips. Cold eyes. War paint.I look like a woman meant to be worshipped or feared.Preferably both.Still, I hate the way my stomach knots as I slip on my heels. Tonight isn’t about power. It’s about control. And I’m not the one holding the leash. The dining room glows with soft, golden light, the table dressed like we’re expecting royalty. Jack sits at the head, a fresh glass of scotch in his hand, face unreadable. Marcus lounges on one end, looking e
Chapter 9: Ultimatums and UnforgivenessRaven’s POVThe sun is still bleeding into the afternoon sky by the time I reach Jack’s study, but the heat in my chest could rival hellfire.I don’t knock. He sits behind his massive mahogany desk, whiskey glass in hand, phone pressed to his ear, barking orders at some underling who’s probably crying on the other end. He sees me walk in and raises a finger, wait.I don’t like waiting. He ends the call with a clipped, “Fix it, or I’ll fix you.”Charming.“What are you doing here ?,” he asks, leaning back like a smug devil on his throne.“I’m here,” I reply coolly. “That should be enough.”He chuckles. “That tone tells me something has gone wrong with Leon.”“Yes,” I snap. “Leon doesn’t want to go through with the wedding.”The smile drops.Just like that, the room shifts.“You’re lying.”I don’t blink. “Why would I lie to you about that?”His jaw clenches. He stands slowly, like a volcano rising with intention. Jack Casuro raises his voice often
Chapter 8- Down belowRaven’s POVI sit on my bed, legs crossed, Sienna’s earring resting in my palm like a loaded gun.Ten minutes. That’s how long I’ve been waiting, and I know she’ll walk in any second now, lie cocked and ready on her tongue.Sienna’s always been a good liar.Right on cue, the door handle turns. She steps in, startled, eyes widening as she sees me.Her hair’s wet, makeup washed away, and her eyes,red-rimmed and guilty.“Hey, Ray,” she says softly, inching toward the bed and sitting beside me.“I woke up and saw you weren’t there,” she offers.“Your snoring was unbearable,” I deadpan. She lets out a nervous laugh, high-pitched and useless. It doesn’t cover the truth, nothing could.“I should get going. New shipment’s arriving today. I need to be there to take inventory.” She stands, heading to her bag on the vanity. Her back is to me, shoulders tense, fingers fumbling through the mess. I can practically feel the panic vibrating off her.Probably looking for something
Raven’s POVMy boobs look incredible in this dress. I twist slightly, glancing over my shoulder to check out my ass, firm and round, just as expected.Perfect dress for the perfect seduction.I wasn’t just trained to be an emotionless weapon. I’d mastered the art of seduction, too.Leon Vitali wouldn’t know what hit him.First, I need to check on Sienna. Her snoring could raise the dead, so I left her passed out in my room and took the guest room next door.Leon was right, red really is my color.I give myself one last look in the mirror before stepping out of the guest room.No need to knock on my own door. I ease it open, the lights still off inside. Sienna’s probably still asleep.Quietly, I shut the door and make my way to Leon’s wing. For a mafia boss, he sure starts his days late. His door is shut, as always. But I don’t knock, why bother, when he’ll likely just ignore it?I push the door open and freeze.Leon stands there, wearing nothing but boxers, a towel draped over his damp
