Why did you lie?

Ivery's POV

We averted our gaze to look at the source of the voice, a man walked swiftly over to us and I noticed my back on his hand, I couldn’t believe I left my bag in the conference hall. “You forgot your bag, Ma'am,” he said while handing over the bag, and I let out a breath of relief.

“Thank you,” I replied with a smile on my face, the man nodded curtly and walked away. Franco and I walked towards the car and went inside, the chauffeur ignited the car engines, driving us back to the mansion.

As the car pulled up to the mansion, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a beautiful, sprawling estate, with acres of grounds and a sparkling pool. The house itself was a grand, old-fashioned mansion, with stone columns and arched windows. I felt a little overwhelmed. This was a far cry from my modest apartment back home.
