Fifty-Six

With a smile on her face, Linda looked at me and said, "Oh, he will be here soon."

It didn't take more than a minute after her remark for the sound of a knock on the door to draw both of our attention to the entrance.

Suddenly the door opened, and I took one look at the person walking into the room before smiling and mumbling, "Jacob," 

"Hey, Lilith. It's lovely to have you on my team just like the old days." Jacob said, shutting the door after him.

"Agent Lilith, you will be working with agent Jacob on this mission," Linda said with a straight face and authority in her voice.

"Yes, boss," I mumbled, smiling when Jacob winked at me.
