Sophia’s pov

I got into the house as I felt the silence hit me. No one was home. I wondered where my mother had gone to.

I dropped my bag on the expansive counter that held so many of our paintings and walked to the living room to fall into the couch.

It was good to be back home. Today had been rough.

I got out my phone to look through it as I saw the headline about the Taylor family annual charity gala.

It was tomorrow night. Of course.

I smiled to watch the video of so many things from the past gala. That was when I saw him. Alex. My heart fluttered for him. I was still in love with him.

“Oh Alex,” I sighed. “Why do you need to make my life so fucking hard?”
