FAZER LOGINChapter 4
The days following the pregnancy confirmation passed by in a flash, although each one left Elara more hollowed out than the last. The news of her pregnancy spread through the Blackwood household with alarming speed, and the shift in atmosphere was something worth noting. She was no longer ignored and treated like trash, but she was closely monitored like a wanted criminal. The doctors came and went, sometimes without warning, and the security quietly increased around her. Her meals were planned to perfection; her movements were recorded. Her sleep was subtly regulated, all under the careful explanation of protection. Everyone spoke politely, yet no one asked what she really wanted, because it was already assumed that her wishes did not matter. They only cared about the human being formed in her body. Before anything reached her, even as plain as drinking water, it had to be approved by Dominic or his immediate family members. He attended meetings with doctors and nurses as though they were board discussions, asking precise questions about timelines and risks, while Elara sat beside him like a silent participant in decisions being made about her body. When the doctor mentioned stress and emotional well-being, Dominic only nodded and redirected the conversation back to the baby’s development. “The child’s health is our main priority,” he said calmly. “Everything else is secondary.” Elara felt her fingers curl into her palm, yet she kept her expression composed, because reacting would only confirm what they already believed about her place in this family. That night, Dominic came to the bedroom earlier than usual. His mood was not gentle, but it was focused, and that frightened her more than his indifference ever had. When he touched her, there was no affection in it, only expectation, and when it was over, he left like he always does. He did not care to ask how she was doing or how her body was coping with the pregnancy. He buttoned his shirt and reached out for his jacket as he said, “You should rest. The doctors said that the first trimester is critical. We cannot afford mistakes.” As Elara watched him leave, the door closing behind him sounded final in a way she could not explain. It was as if her heart had finally reached its limit, and it had closed up completely. But it was the following afternoon that she overheard the conversation that stripped away her last illusion. Elara had been resting in the adjoining sitting room when voices drifted in from the hallway. She recognized Dominic’s voice immediately, steady and controlled, paired with his grandmother’s sharp, authoritative tone. The older woman stared at Dominic and spoke, “There will be no mistakes this time.” “The child will be raised as a Blackwood from the moment it is born.” “Of course,” Dominic replied. “I have already instructed the legal team to prepare the documents. Both the divorce and custody papers.” “And what about the mother?” his grandmother asked. “She seems… emotionally fragile.” Dominic did not hesitate as he spoke up, “She will be compensated generously. Once the child is born, she will be free to leave and carry on with her life. Being entangled with a woman is the last thing I need on my bucket list. I don’t have the luxury to indulge in so-called love.” Elara’s breath caught painfully in her throat, and she pressed her hand against the wall to steady herself. Her body trembled, and fresh tears stung her eyes. “I don’t care about your relationship as long as my grandchild stays,” the older woman said firmly. “Yes,” Dominic agreed without hesitation. “That was always the plan.” Their words settled heavily, crushing the air from her lungs. She felt rooted to the spot, unable to move. The conversation continued, drifting toward logistics and arrangements that no longer sounded distant or abstract, but Elara was too broken to register anything being said. Her back hugged the cold wall, and the coldness spread all through her body, finally settling in her heart. The two were talking about her child as though it already belonged to them. And she was nothing more than a breeding machine. Something to continue the Blackwood bloodline. Elara did not even remember how she returned to the bedroom, yet somehow, she found herself sitting on the edge of the bed, her hands trembling as she pressed them against her flat stomach. They intended to take the baby, and they had never planned for her to stay. They wanted to generously compensate her and take her baby away. Every moment of coldness, every dismissive word, and every calculated touch suddenly made sense, because she had never been seen as someone worth of carrying the title of Dominic's wife in their eyes. She had been a temporary solution, carefully selected and easily discarded once her purpose was fulfilled. That evening, Dominic spoke to her with a calm voice that made her skin crawl. “The legal team will visit tomorrow,” he said. “There are documents you will need to review and give your signature.” “What kind of documents?” Elara asked with a trembling voice, even though she already knew everything. Dominic replied without batting an eyelid, “Custodial arrangements and confidentiality agreements. It is standard procedure, and it won’t have any effect on your future.” Her heart pounded violently, yet she forced herself to meet his gaze. “Is it really necessary?” Dominic frowned slightly, as though confused by her distress. “I thought you understood everything from the very beginning.” Yes, she understood, but she had still hoped for a different outcome. But life had just given her a reality check. That night, Elara did not cry, and that somehow surprised her, because for the last few days, she would only sleep once her eyes had gotten tired from crying. She lay awake, staring at the ceiling, while her mind worked with a clarity she had not known before. Although there was still a lingering fear in her heart, beneath it grew something stronger and more dangerous. If she stayed, she would lose her child, and her life would disappear piece by piece until nothing of her remained. Slowly, but carefully, Elara began to plan. She memorized schedules, observed routines, and noted every detail she had previously ignored. She smiled when expected, agreed when spoken to, and lowered her head like the obedient wife they believed her to be. All the while, she was preparing her exit plan, and although it was dangerous, it fueled her body with adrenaline.Chapter 160Clap!Clap!Clap!Elara entered the venue as she clapped hard. This was the moment she had been waiting for, and seeing her enemy’s defeated expression, a thrilling feeling coursed through her body. When Sara saw her, she thought that she was seeing a ghost. She pointed at her, but she could not utter a single word, “You… you…”Elara moved closer and pointed at herself, “Me? Me what?”“You…” Sara’s eyes were so wide that they were about to fall out of their own sockets.Elara smiled. She pressed a button, and another video played. It was of her and Chad getting kidnapped and being taken to Caleb’s lab.Seeing how Elara had been threatened to create the cure for Sara, everyone was stunned, and they started to loudly curse at Sara.“What the hell? This family is rotten to the core.”“They destroyed Elara and took her life’s work, made sure that she was left with nothing, but when they needed her help, they did not hesitate to kidnap her.”“My goodness, couldn’t they even feel
Chapter 159The moment Sara appeared on the aisle, everyone started to whisper.“Why is she wearing a black gown on her wedding?”“The gown is really beautiful, but isn’t it a bit inappropriate to wear that on her big day? I thought that every girl’s dream is to wear white on their wedding day?”“How could we know? You know how rich people have weird fetishes. Maybe she wanted to be unique; that was why she wore the black gown.”Sara could feel everyone’s gaze on her, and she wondered what was going on in their heads. Her heart should be filled with joy as she walked down the aisle, but why did she feel like she was walking to her death? It was like she was signing her life over to the devil.“Mom, can I back out now? I don’t feel like getting married anymore.” Sara whispered through the veil. Her father reprimanded her before Tina could say anything, “Don’t even think about it.”Sara felt like crying. She did not understand what was wrong with her.She had been dreaming of this day f
Chapter 158“Sara, are you sure you are going to your wedding?” Tina shouted as she removed the blanket from Sara’s body.Sara groaned as she tried to open her eyes, but her head hurt so hard that the moment she opened her eyes, they stung so much that tears almost fell.“Urgh!”Tina looked at her daughter and complained, “I have never seen anyone so wasted on their wedding day. What happened to you? Did you have to drink too much just because you are finally marrying Dominic?”Sara squeaked as she tried to find something to cover herself with, “Mom, why are you so annoying? I want to sleep some more.”“What has gotten into this family? Your brother hasn’t been home in days, and I don’t even know if he will show up at your wedding, and now you! Do you guys want to drive me to my death so early?”Tina looked at the time on her phone and frowned. The Blackwood family would be here any minute, and if they found out that Sara had gone to the bar and gotten herself drunk to the point that
Chapter 157Sara did not know if it was just a coincidence or if the universe was trying to prove to her that she made the right choice by getting married to Dominic. They were having their parties at the same hotel, and Sara could not have been happier. She hadn't seen Dominic in a few days, and she couldn't get her eyes off of him. The more she looked at him, the more she realized just how handsome he was."Our couple is indeed fated for each other. This kind of coincidence doesn’t happen every day. And for that matter, we are going to party till dawn." One of Dominic's friends said. When they realized that they were at the same hotel, Dominic and Sara's friends decided to combine the parties, and that was how Dominic and Sara found themselves sharing the same room."Let's play, guys."Dominic sat in a dimly lit corner; his entire body shrouded in mystery. His cold aura made him look out of place, and the wine glass in his hands just added to his seductive charm.Sara looked at him
Chapter 156With the wedding fast approaching, Sara was getting nervous with each passing day.She would not decide on which dress to wear or the accessories to use. She had not even decided on the kind of makeup to wear on her wedding day.“Urgh! This is overwhelming.” Sara groaned as she slumped in the chair. Her mother passed her a glass of cold juice as she said, “That is what you get for marrying into a rich family. This would be the wedding of the century, so you can’t really slack off.”“Come on, we will try on some more, and if you still can’t find anything you like, we will have to get it custom-made for you.”“Mom, we don’t have the time. There are only two days left before the wedding.”Tina thought about something and frowned, “But why hasn’t Dominic prepared a gown for you? Isn’t it his responsibility as your groom?”“Mom, Dommy has a lot going on right now, so I don’t want to bother him with something so small. Plus, it is my wedding, so I have to wear something that I g
Chapter 155“Sis, what did you do? I already told you that Elara would never set us up, but you still went ahead and murdered her in cold blood. Do you know that you would still be a cripple if she had not stepped in to help you?” Caleb reprimanded.“Caleb, your sister only did that for the sake of our family. You don’t know what Elara would have done the moment she left this place. I don’t know what she did to you, son, but you need to snap out of it.” Theo said.“She did not do a fucking thing to me,” Caleb shouted in a cold tone. “She only made my heart beat again.”He pointed at his sister and spoke, “She has been obsessed with Dominic ever since she was you, but you never said anything about it. Even if Dominic made it clear that he did not want her, she still lusted after him.”He roughly rubbed his face as he continued, “Goodness, she even went as low as drugging him, just so the man could touch her, but nothing happened, and she had to come up with the whole pregnancy thing ju
