CHAPTER TWO_New job

Oliver's office

immediately Ethan's call ended he called his assistant,to send the candidates to him directly..

few minutes after the call a knock came to his office

"come on in" he said as he swayed his chair from left to right

gently the door opened reeavealing Elena in her black skirt and Black Blazer.

For a second, Oliver paused, which made Elena nervous,she wasn't wearing make up ,so she wondered if she looked terrible.

on the. other hand Oliver couldn't take his eyes off her he haven't seen a natural beauty like this in years

"uhm"

He cleared his throat when he noticed he was starting for too long .

" Have a seat ,what's ur name miss?"

he asked.

"my name is Elena sir" she replied

Her voice sounding rather throaty due to her nervousness.

" do u have any work experience"

The interviewer asked

" yes sir,I have worked as an accountant and also a personal secretary at a firm ,my cv are enclosed in my details"

He nodded his Head, slowly leaning into his seat.

"why should we hire you?" he asked tapping his fingers lightly on his desk

Elena took a shaky breath,

The man didn't look intimidating,but yet she was nervous,this wasn't her first interview ,

but she let out a silent prayer hopping ,she get the job.

"Because I don't believe in asking for opportunities I cannot handle. My portfolio speaks for itself, and I assure you, hiring me would be an investment rather than a favour." she replied

"impressive "

Oliver muttered as he made a move to scan yhrough her files

"Alright miss Elena"

He cleared his throat

" due to the fact that we need an urgent secretary,you are to resume tomorrow "

he stated

"oh my God"

" oh my"

" does than mean I got the job?

she asked happily, almost jumping on her feet

Oliver was taken aback buy her excitement,few minutes ago she was nervous ,and now she was all smiles ,

He knew one thing for sure,he didn't give her the job because of her resume

But he gave her because he wanted to get close to her

"alright you may leave,your resumption time is 9am , you have to come early before the CEO" he instructed

"thank you sir"

she said repeatedly as she made her way out of his office

She let out a shaky breath as she came out of the office, making her way out of the building excitedly.

She headed home immediately stopping by a store to get chocolates for Eva

"you got the job? , congratulations my dear, I'm so proud of you " her mother hugged her as soon as she broke the news of her new job

"Mama"

Eva came running to the living room as she heard her mother's face voice

"my baby,I've missed you "

Elena said as she picking up Eva

" look what mama got you" she pull out the bar of chocolate from her bag and handed it over to Eva

"Thank you mummy" Eva said as her hug Elena's neck with her tiny hands

Elena came home early so she would have enough time to prepare for her new job

excitement was a small word to compare what she was feeling,

With the salary of her new job she could rent a bigger apartment and send Eva to school,

Ethan walked out of his company hurriedly when he got a call from his grandfather's caretaker that the old man was rushed to the hospital

He got into his car ,and not bothering to wear his seat belt ,he drove crazily to the hospital the caretaker mentioned.

"doctor"

"where is my grandfather" Ethan screamed at the doctor upon his arrival .

The doctor remained mute , angering Ethan as he grabbed him by the collar smashing him against the wall

"Ethan?"

Bianca called ,which brought Ethan back to his senses as he turned towards her

"mother"

Bianca was the only person apart from his grandfather who could bring him to his senses

"come with me son"

she said leading him to his grandfather's Ward

Ethan froze by the door , immediately he saw his grandfather's fragile state with an oxygen tube attached to his nose

" what happened to him mum?"

he whispered to him mother ,with tears forming in his eyes

Ethan was not ready to loose his grandfather,He was the only man who had loved him and called him son

lossing him will be like loosing part of his world .

" he had an heart attack" Bianca whispered back

Ethan took slow steps towards his old man .like any heavier step will send him six feet below the ground

just then Leonard opened his eyes slowly

Leonard muttered as she slowly reached for Ethan's face ,but Ethan held his hands in his instead

" father?"

"Let me go get the doctor" he stated and made to leave the room.

just as Ethan left the room Bianca said,

"i told you it was going to work Leo " she laughed lightly

"now it's time for phase two" Leonard replied back as he chuckled

resting his head back on the pillow, acting weak and fragile

just then the door flung open and Ethan walked in with the doctor

He stood at the far end of the office as he watched the doctor examine his grandfather silently

just when he was running out of patients ,The doctor cleared his throat

"Mr Blackwood,may I see you privately please"

in as much as the doctor was frightened he tried as much as possible not to show it for the sake of the old man ,and the money he was being paid

he said as he proceeds to lead him out so they can go to his office.

Ethan followed silently,until they got into his office and he was made to sit facing the doctor

"Mr Blackwood?, your father was diagnosed with Supraventricular Tachycardia SVT , I would prescribe some medications you will need for him"

the doctor said as he proceeded to scramble some words inside a piece of paper,

"One more thing ,Mr Blackwood, please make sure the old man does not stresses himself,if possible you should give home whatever he wants, because stress can make him go into depression and that could be critical for his health ".

he handed the piece of paper with the medication over to Ethan .

All this while Ethan was quiet ,he could sense that something was fishy ,but he could not place his hands on it.

He went back to his grandfather's Ward ,

and sat close to the old man silently.

They were both silent for a while before Leonard broke the silent

"Son?am I going to die" he Asked weakly with the most pitiable expression he could get

"No father,why would you say that? nothing's wrong with you,it's just a little heart attack"

Ethan lied,not wanting to disclose what the doctor told him

"I can feel it Ethan ,I'm getting old"

Ethan let out a sigh ,as he hold the old man by the hand , stroking him

"Do me one favour my boy, before I go,I want to see you with a wife Ethan,I want to have a great grand child"

upon hearing this Ethan's breath cut short in his throat

He took a long pause ,and said

" okay grandfather I will"

" No son I want you to promise me, that In one month you will be married"

Leonard pressured

" I promise PA,don't over think it,I don't want you to get stressed" Ethan replied as he kissed the back of the old man's palm

"okay then,I'll call The Richard's as soon as possible " Leonard stated out of the blue,which made Ethan pause

" I would not be getting married to the daughter of the Richard's father " Ethan grumbled

"But an alliance was made , you've known her all your life and it's it father's last wi...."

Leonard could not even finish his words before Ethan's aggressive voice cuts him short

"I said I do not want to marry the Richard's daughter " he said in a rather high tone

which made the old man jolt in shock

just then Bianca stepped in,not wanting the issue to go more than that ,she said

"Do not speak to your grandfather like "

she scolded him.

"if you don't want the daughter of Richard,it's fine,you can get a wife but it has to be in two weeks and after then you would have no other choice Ethan but to marry Reina Richard"

Reina Richard was the only daughter of Thomas Richard who is the CEO of RICHARDS GLOBAL and a friend to Ethan's father before the unfortunate incident that took his life.

Reina was a super model at the allies world but later fall out after her marital affair with her married boss which cause a huge scandal in the moddeling industry.

Now she's just a pampered rich heiress who can get whatever she wants within a twinkle of an eye
