Kieran sat on the opposite seat from Emma Jean. She looked out the window thinking. Kenji didn’t have to apologize to her, he could have done everything he could to milk the situation. Could have kept the lie going even if she refused to admit it. She was beginning to wonder if he was a decent guy. Her radar had always been wrong when it came to certain guys maybe this time it wasn’t so bad.

Kieran watched her, seeing her eyebrows wiggle and change every few minutes. He had an inkling of what she was thinking about. He didn’t like it, at all. He wanted to get her mind off that bozo and onto him. “EJ, when was the last time you actually wore a dress? Feels like it’s been since our senior homecoming.”

She rested her hand against between her shoulder and chin. “It couldn’t have been that long. I distinctly remember wearing a dress as recently as last year.”

“I never seen it.”

“Maybe it was when I went on a date.”

He gave her a face. “You haven’t
