Kenji leaned back from the table after he finished swallowing his first bite. His eyes were closed. The first taste he could tell the food was made perfectly. He opened his eyes to see Emma looking at him. “What?”

“Nothing, just wondering if that’s the way you look when something is delicious?”

“Yeah, maybe so.” He straightened himself up to continue eating. “So, Little princess, tell me the story about that guy.”

She sighed, even though she agreed to talk about him she really didn’t want to discuss it. “Yeah, I did make a promise, right?”

“You did indeed.”

She stabbed at her mashed potatoes, then stirred them around. “So, you know his name is Johnny. He was actually my very first boyfriend. God, I think I was about fifteen maybe sixteen. I was completely innocent.”
