The twins came back inside the room to see the steady rising and falling of their chest. Emma Jean and Rowan fell asleep during their wait. They tapped them on the shoulder to rouse them from their brief nap. “Miss, its time to take of the wraps.”
Emma Jean groaned at being woken up while Rowan seemed to still be asleep. She really was hard to wake up unless there was a blaring alarm waking her up. Emma’s technician worked effortlessly to unwrap her body. With every seaweed removed she felt lighter. It felt good when she finally was released completely from the confines of the wrap. The shower was waiting for her to rinse off. Emma Jean let the water cascade down her hair and her body. The warm water felt good, almost as if her stress were being washed away from her. Just before she stepped out, she wrapped a towel around her body. Both women were doing their best to wake Rowan up. The cool air made her skin prickle. “If you take off her mask, I’ll wake her up.”

It was math class, a spring day. The start of a new quarter. Rowan Adams had her head resting in her hand looking out the window. The droning of the teacher coupled with the sounds of the rain were lulling her to sleep. Rowan hated math class. It was a useless waste of space in her eyes. After prom, Rowan and Dallas were inseparable. Dallas received the honor of Valedictorian for graduation. After their graduation ceremony Dallas took her in his arms and whispered in her ear for only her to hear. “Will you marry me?”Rowan was stunned at his sudden proposal but knew this was the man for her. “Yes but not right away. Dallas was shocked she even suggested this as a way to thank him. He only expected her to express her gratitude an move on. Hope sprung forth in his heart. A possibility of reconciliation had his heart beating wildly. Agreeing to it immediately, he pushed his hands in his pockets to keep from hugging her. One step at a time. Kenji had thought going out of the country would help but even out of the country no place wanted to compete with Kari-hope. He had made his way through nearly every country trying to find some bank that would take a chance on him. The last bank he went to, the teller informed him of his status. Somehow Dallas Scott made sure he wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.He waited to hear if that very man would reach out to him, to his surprise nothing ever came. Kemari gave a huge smile knowing that he is all they know. The two girls ran towards him hugging his legs. Kenji stood up and shook hands with Kimmie’s husband, Marshall. “I heard a lot about you. Kimmie absolutely adores you. If you had a fan club, I am a million percent sure she would be the president and vice president.” “Ah, well we did spend a lot of time together. We’re just a few years apart.” “Really? She likes to joke and tell me that she is still twenty-seven. She’s been that age for at least five years.” Kenji could only laugh, Kimie wasn’t nearby so he leaned n and whispered her true age, “She is thirty-four. But don’t tell her I told you.” “I won’t. I’ll just say I glimpsed her birth certificate or something. Good looking out. Kemari would just play dumb.” “He’s good at the naïve persona. So what do you do?” “I work at Kari-hope. I’m one of their engineers. Our CEO passed away last week and it’s been tough going.”

Kenji reached her table noticing she was with an older woman. He assumed the lady was her mother. They looked similar around the eyes. He gave the two women a pleasant smile, “I’m sorry to disturb you but I felt your eyes on me. Do I know you?” He could see the embarrassment blooming across her freckled cheeks. The sight intrigued him. He waited for her to answer. She looked away from him to her mother. “Forgive me. I thought you were someone I worked with before.” He shoved his hands in his pockets rocking on the balls of his feet. “I’ve worked in a few places. Where do you think we’ve worked together at?” She shot another look at her mom, seemingly having a silent conversation. “Please take a seat. Join us.” “I couldn’t possibly impose.” He held up his right hand to wave off the invitation. The older lady spoke up at that moment. “It is certainly not an issue. We just started our dinner. After his meal was finished, he left to go home. His parents were gone. Kemari apparently had a date that night with some woman. The house was quiet. It brought him back to his time living alone overseas. The quiet used to frustrate him in the beginning. He was used to hearing the loudness of Kemari and Kimmie fighting. When he lived in England, he would play the local music to drown out the silence. It helped until eventually silence was something he craved for after a few months. He had to figure out what his next move was going to be. It was fortuitous that he ended up meeting her again. Even better, that her mother said she desperately needed to go on a date. Why she needed to do that was something of a mystery. He thought back to her beautiful green eyes. Despite, being in mourning she still seemed as fiery as from when they met as kids.
