Olivia

We stood there on the yacht deck, Paris glittering around us like scattered diamonds. The Eiffel Tower's lights danced on the Seine's dark water, creating paths of gold that rippled with each passing wave.

Alexander's arms tightened around me, his chin resting on my shoulder. "Cold?"

"A little," I admitted, though I didn't want to move from this spot.

He released me only long enough to shrug out of his jacket and drape it over my shoulders. The fabric held his warmth and that clean, expensive scent that was uniquely him.

"Better?"

"Much."

The yacht continued its lazy circuit of the Seine, passing under bridges and gliding past centuries-old buildings. Other boats dotted the water, their windows glowing with warm light, but it felt like we had the river to ourselves.

"Thank you for this," I said, leaning back against his chest. "For all of this. London, Paris, everything."

"You've said that before."

"Bears repeating." I tilted my head to look up at him. "Most people don

Olivia"Someone's happy to see me," I teased. "Someone's been thinking about you all day." "Oh, really? During your boring meetings?" "Especially during my boring meetings." His hands gripped my hips. "Kept imagining what I'd do to you once they were over." "And what did you imagine?" Instead of answering, Alexander's mouth found mine. The kiss started slowly, almost teasing. His lips moved against mine with deliberate patience, like we had all the time in the world. But patience had never been his strong suit, and within seconds the kiss deepened, his tongue sliding against mine in a way that made my toes curl. The warm bathwater lapped at our skin as I shifted in his lap, my hands finding purchase on his shoulders. His fingers dug into my hips, holding me steady as the kiss turned hungry. "Fuck, you taste good," he muttered against my mouth before nipping at my bottom lip. "It's the wine," I gasped when he released me. "No, it's you." His mouth moved to my neck, teeth scra

OliviaWe spent an hour there, me examining every window while Alexander watched with amused patience. When we finally left, the afternoon sun was warm on our faces. "Hungry?" Alexander asked. "Starving. Where are we eating tonight?" "There's this tiny bistro near our hotel. Nothing fancy, just really good French food." "Sounds perfect." Dinner was exactly what he'd promised: simple, classic French cuisine in a cozy space filled with locals rather than tourists. We shared escargot, duck confit, and a bottle of wine that Alexander insisted would change my life. "Well?" he asked as I took my first sip. "It's good," I admitted. "But life-changing might be overselling it." "Give it time. The wine needs to breathe, like our marriage." I nearly choked on my next sip. "Did you just compare wine to our marriage?" "Both need time to develop properly. Both improve with age. Both can give you a headache if you're not careful." "You're ridiculous." "You keep saying that." "Because yo

OliviaThe room service arrived with a chocolate cake that was so rich it probably violated some kind of health code, along with two glasses of port. We settled onto the enormous sofa, Alexander's arm draped casually over my shoulders. The movie was gloriously awful. The special effects looked like they'd been done on someone's laptop, and the acting was so wooden I suspected the performers might actually be trees in disguise. "Oh my god," I gasped as the lead actress ran from CGI bees in four-inch heels. "Who runs from killer insects in stilettos?" "Someone with commitment to fashion over survival," Alexander replied, feeding me a bite of cake. "She just tripped over nothing. Literally nothing. There was flat pavement, and she fell." "Perhaps she's allergic to competent blocking." I laughed so hard I nearly choked on the cake. Alexander patted my back, grinning. "You okay there?" "Your fault," I managed between coughs. "Making jokes during my dessert consumption." "I'll try

OliviaBy seven, I was back at the hotel, my feet sore but my heart full. I ordered room service for a light dinner, not wanting to fill up before whatever Alexander had planned for later. The roses in the bedroom had been refreshed while I was out, their scent even stronger now. I ran a bath in that ridiculous marble tub, adding the complimentary bath salts and sinking into the hot water with a sigh of pure contentment. Paris. I was actually in Paris, living in a palace-like hotel suite, exploring one of the world's most beautiful cities, and waiting for my devastatingly handsome husband to return from business meetings so we could have dinner together. My life had become surreal. I was wrapped in the plush hotel robe, hair damp from the bath, when I heard the suite door open. "Liv?" Alexander called. "In the bedroom!" He appeared in the doorway, looking tired but pleased. "Did I miss anything exciting?" "Just me wandering Paris like a tourist cliché. Bought books, sat in a p

OliviaWe stayed for a few more minutes before Alexander reluctantly checked his watch. "We should head back. I need to shower and change before my two o'clock."At the hotel, Alexander disappeared into the bathroom while I unpacked. The closet was nearly the size of my old apartment's bedroom, with enough hanging space for a small boutique. I arranged my clothes carefully, separating casual from formal, trying not to feel intimidated by the luxury surrounding me.My phone buzzed. A text from Emilia.Emilia: PARIS?!?! You're in PARIS and didn't tell me?? I saw your Instagram story. I'm so jealous I could die.Me: Just got here this morning. It's incredible.Emilia: Details! I need all the details! What's the hotel like? Have you eaten anything amazing yet? Has Alexander swept you off your feet in the city of romance?Me: The Hotel is ridiculous. Had the best croissant of my life. And yes, he's being surprisingly romantic.Emilia: KNEW IT. I knew he had it in him. That man is falling f
