Today should’ve been named “Colorful Day.” If the universe ever chose a title for a random Thursday, it would’ve gone with this one. Angelie had been painted with surprises from morning till now, each splash of color more confusing, more vivid than the last. Damien, with his hollow smile and his sudden tenderness. Tim and Julia, who had kept a secret love story right under her nose. And now Jeff. Jeff, with his soft eyes, awkward honesty, and the unexpected question.

She looked at him, he still had the same expression like he had just asked a casual question. Angelie didn’t blink, she didn’t breathe differently. She just gave him the truth like she had rehearsed it all her life.

“Yes, Jeff. I would have married you without blinking twice.”

Her voice wasn’t shaky. It didn’t tremble or waver. It was solid, grounded, and real. And Jeff didn’t know he had so many butterflies stored in his stomach until that moment. The weight in his chest lifted like a balloon being released.
