Angelie didn’t know when the laughter escaped her lips. It was loud, full, and unexpected. She held her stomach and shook her head as she tried to catch her breath.

“Have you ever considered going into comedy?” she asked Flora, still laughing. “Because trust me, you would make so much money without lifting a finger.”

But Flora didn’t laugh. She wasn’t even smiling. Her face was still, eyes calm, posture relaxed but serious.

Angelie’s laughter slowly faded. She studied her friend’s expression. “Wait… you’re serious? Like, actually pregnant?”

She nodded. “I said what I said.”

Now it was Angelie’s turn to gulp down a full glass of water. She had been receiving surprise after surprise lately, and this one? This one had her head spinning again.

“Does the father know?” she asked, leaning forward.

Flora nodded. “Yes. And he’s over the moon. Happier than I expected, honestly.”

Angelie raised her now-empty glass. “Then we have a wedding to plan!”

Flora’s face twisted slightly. “Not so fast. He

“What do you mean you can't find Angelie? Is she some chocolate that got misplaced out of the blues?” Tim’s voice was heavy with sarcasm, but beneath it was a tremor of fear and confusion.Jeff exhaled and rubbed his forehead. “I was meant to pick her up from the restaurant today. But when I got there, they told me she had left hours ago. She isn’t at home, and clearly, she isn’t here either. Is there any other place she could have gone to?”Tim’s squueze his hands as he tried to think. Then something clicked. “Yes. Julia. She might be with Julia.”Without another word, they hurried to Jeff’s car and sped off toward Julia’s apartment. The drive was quiet, fast and tense. Jeff’s fingers gripped the steering wheel tightly while Tim stared out the window, hoping she is there. Each second that passed deepened the anxiety that is having its moment between them..When Julia opened her front door, the sight of Jeff and Tim standing there sent a wave of confusion over her face.“Hi Julia,” Ti

She was pointing fastly at her small purse, her breathing shallow and panicked. Flora didn’t waste another second. She dashed across the room, grabbed the purse, and fumbled with the zipper until she found the small inhaler. Her hands shook as she handed it over, watching Isabella quickly bring it to her lips. Flora helped her onto the bed gently, placing a pillow behind her and keeping her upright.Isabella took a few sharp breaths, the medication already working its way through her system. After a few minutes, the heaviness in her chest calmed. Flora stayed beside her, one hand resting lightly on her back, ready in case she needed more support. The room was silent except for Isabella’s slowing breaths.“You’re okay now. Just rest,” Flora whispered, still sitting at the edge of the bed. Isabella nodded weakly and leaned back. She remained with her for a while longer, quietly observing. There was something different about this moment. Maybe it was the fear of losing her, or maybe it w

Lucas sat in the hospital waiting area, his fingers tapping nervously against the arm of the chair. His leg bounced up and down uncontrollably. Every second seems like hours. He couldn't believe the mess he had just added to his already tangled life. A pregnancy scandal, family issues, and now possibly a hit-and-run? That would be the final nail. His mind was all over the place, thinking every possible outcome. He had driven like a maniac after realizing what had happened. The guilt hit him instantly, but panic overtook his logic. Speeding through the streets, he barely avoided police patrols. Only by luck did he not get pulled over. It wasn’t until he parked his car at the hospital and saw her being carried inside on a stretcher that the fear truly sank in. He could not handle a murder charge, not now, not ever. When he saw the doctor stepping out of the ward, he rushed forward, with pleading eyes that seemed to yearn for good news.“How is she, doctor?” he asked, trying to sound sca

Isabella opened the door with a light smile on her face. She thought it was Tim, maybe back early from his quick run to get groceries. “Oh, you’re back so quickly,” she said casually as she opened the door wider, expecting to see his familiar face. But it wasn’t Tim.The woman standing in front of her looks peaceful. with a subtle glare that couldn’t be missed. Isabella raised her head, still smiling politely, the kind of warm smile that was hard to distrust. “Hello, are you here to see Tim?” she asked.Julia’s heart dropped the moment she saw the woman. This wasn’t just any woman. She was stunning. Her skin glowed without makeup, her smile was gentle and confident, and to make matters worse, she was wearing Tim’s shirt. Julia’s gut twisted, jealousy crept in, and it almost swept her away. She forced a small smile that barely touched her eyes.“Yes, I’m here to see him, please, where is he?” Julia asked politely, shocking herself.Isabella didn’t notice the storm brewing behind the gu

“I’m pregnant,” Lizzy repeated. She said it slowly, clearly, like she needed him to hear her. Like, repeating it might help him understand it better. She examined his face for any hint of emotion, but found nothing.Lucas didn’t respond right away. He stared at her, not blinking, not moving. His face was unreadable. She waited for his usual smile, or a hug, or even a question, but he didn’t show any.“I thought you were on pills, we agreed on this,” he finally said, his voice smooth, as if the words were rehearsed.Lizzy’s heart sank. The tone of his voice wasn’t soft, t wasn’t kind. He sounded more concerned with the agreement than with her or the baby.“It just happened, Lucas. I don’t even know how, maybe I missed a dose, or maybe it failed, but I didn’t plan this. I swear, but is here.”“Okay then,” he said, standing up from the chair and brushing imaginary dust off his swim shorts. “You know what to do. Get rid of it, take pills, or anything, handle it.”She looked up at him, shoc

Tim didn’t expect the question. It caught him so off guard that he simply stared at her for a moment before responding. The expression on Isabella’s face wasn’t curious or teasing; it was serious, and he had never seen her this serious."I honestly don’t know how to feel," he said finally, his voice lower than usual. "Maybe because both my parents are late... or maybe because I can’t imagine my dad ever dating someone younger than him. He loved my mum deeply. He looked at her like she was made of gold. The thought of him being with someone else, especially someone younger... it would’ve felt awkward, weird, even."Isabella didn’t respond immediately. She only nodded slowly, but Tim could tell her mind was going through a thousand things at once. She wasn’t just bringing this up for casual conversation. This was personal."Is your dad seeing someone younger?" he asked, now more focused. She nodded, and a small, bitter smile escaped her lips. "Yes, he is. He told me himself. And from th

“Forge?” Fred asked again, eyebrows raised, like he hoped he had misheard.Jeff nodded. “Yes. It’s a big tech company with branches all over. Even in neighboring countries like Mexico. They’re not just some regular start-up; they’ve got power, real money. And they operate under different names, so they’re hard to track.”Jeff leaned back in his chair, his fingers drumming against the table. “I’ve been digging into them while you were away. I had a feeling they’d try something like this. But I was ready. I blocked the attack before they could get in.”Fred rubbed his temples. “Do you know who’s behind it? The CEO?”He shook his head. “That’s the part I don’t know. Everything about them is hidden, clean, like someone doesn’t want to be found. But Grandpa’s right, whoever this is, they’re coming for us hard. We can’t sit still.”Fred closed his eyes, his usual reaction when trying to take in heavy information. “This is crazy.”Jeff nodded slowly. “Yeah. And the craziest part is, we still

“I’m Elizabeth, by the way,” the young lady said with a polite smile. “But you can call me Lizzy.”Her name wasn’t important to Pat at that moment. Not really. What mattered was the weight of the words Lizzy had spoken just seconds ago, words that hit her heart like a hammer.Pat’s voice came out weak, but firm. “Lizzy, what do you mean she has amnesia?”Lizzy pulled the sleeves of her hoodie over her fingers and smiled like she was talking about the weather, not something serious “Old age, you know. She forgets things almost all the time now. Some days, she asks me who I am. She even forgets her name sometimes. It’s... kinda funny when you think about it.”Pat didn’t find it funny. Her knees buckled, and she nearly collapsed, but Andrew was quick to catch her, holding her steady.“Mum, sit down,” he said softly but urgently.Lizzy watched, clearly confused by what was happening. “Is she sick or something? There’s a nurse not too far from here. I can get her.”“No,” Pat said quickly,
