“This isn’t the right time, sis,” Amaya said, her voice barely above a whisper. “If I say the truth now, everything will scatter. I can’t…”

Her sister smiled weakly. “Ever since Nathan died, there’s nothing else for me to lose. That man… he wasn’t just my husband. He was my peace.”

Amaya swallowed hard. She looked at her sister, really looked at her. The woman who once lit up every room with laughter, jokes, with endless stories… now had fading eyes, slow steps, and hands that trembled when she reached for her glass of water.

Time had stolen her shine.

“I don’t know how long you plan to carry this secret,” her sister said, “but hear me well… as long as you stay in that house and pretend, you will never be happy. No matter how much Jeff respects you now, he will always look at you like a guest.”

Amaya looked away, blinking back tears. “He’ll hate me, more if he finds out.”

“Then let him hate you for telling the truth. It’s better than him loving you for a lie.”

“Yes, I have been in love,” Jimmy said as he handed a glass of orange juice to Lucas. He leaned back on the couch, one hand lazily resting on his lap.“How was it?” Lucas asked, genuinely curious.Jimmy chuckled. “It was magical, boss. I felt like a teenager. Before she could even call, I was already at her door. We were so in love, or at least that’s what I thought.”Lucas took a slow sip of his juice, waiting for him to continue. But Jimmy’s expression changed. The smile dropped. His eyes went blank, like he just remembered something that sucked the air out of the room.“And...?” Lucas asked again.“She never loved me,” Jimmy said, this time with less energy. “She had another man. She said I wasn’t her type… that I was too big for her.” He drank the rest of his juice in one gulp, the bitterness on his face not from the drink but the memory.Lucas watched him closely. It was the first time he’d seen Jimmy let his guard down like this.“She was everything to me. Alicia. That was her n

Damien's eyes remained fixed on his grandfather, searching for any sign that he was joking. But Simeon's face meant business, his wrinkles still solid. "Let this old man sit first," Simeon said, settling onto the bed. He adjusted his collar and unfastened the top button of his shirt. The bond between him and his tailored suits was legendary.Damien's impatience was evident. If it were up to him, he'd have grabbed his grandfather's tie and demanded answers. But this was Simeo, his grandfather, a man of immense power and influence."When I first saw her, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. After all, age does things to one's vision. But if there's one thing God blessed me with, it's a sharp sight.""I was at the Providence site, checking on the construction. I love perfection, and there she was, looking lost, as if she'd misplaced something dear, maybe she did literally.""Grandpa, please, no more riddles. Who did you see? You're driving me crazy." Damien ran his fingers through his

“What do you mean, she is married to one brother and in love with another?”Pat's eyes widened, but she remained composed. The spoon in her hand made a soft click as it dropped onto the plate. She stared at Tim like the words coming out of his mouth couldn’t be real.Tim stayed quiet for a second, wiped his mouth slowly with the napkin, and dropped it gently back on the table. Then, with a deep sigh, he said, “A lot has happened, a whole lot; and Angelie has been through more than you can imagine.”He didn’t rush. He wanted her to hear it all.He told her everything. From the day Angelie called Jeffrey for help and Lucas helord instead… to the offer Lucas made. Money in exchange for marriage, and the one rule, no divorce for four years, not one less.He told her about Angelie’s silence. Her sacrifice. About how she couldn’t tell anyone because his life was on the line, and she wasn’t going to risk it.“She did it for me,” he said, voice filled with emotions. “And now… she’s paying t

He stood outside, waiting. He didn't know how long he had been there, but It was getting late, and time was the last thing on his mind. His mind was flooded, packed with images and voices that refused to leave. The only person he wanted to talk to, the only one who might understand without asking too many questions, was her. Then the front door opened, and Isabella stepped out. She had on sweatpants and a loose T-shirt. Her hair was tied back, and she looked like someone who had been watching a movie or just winding down from a long day.“Tim?” she called, her eyes scanning him. “What are you doing here? It’s late, come inside.”She walked toward him, reaching out, but he gently pulled his arm away.“I… I don’t want to go inside. Not now.”She paused. His tone was calm, but his eyes betrayed the storm he was holding back. Without another word, she turned around and walked back inside, only to reappear a minute later with her car keys.He got in without a word. The ride was quiet, not

They sat quietly on a bench under a tree that provided shields. The hospital view from the outside was a beauty to behold.1Tim sat still, legs slightly apart, hands rubbing together like he was trying to warm himself even though it wasn’t cold, it was a sunny day. His eyes moved across the parking lot ahead, not seeing anything.Patricia sat beside him. Her knees pressed together, fingers entwined tightly on her lap. A gold bracelet jingled lightly whenever her hand twitched. The silence between them didn't last for long. She broke it.“I understand how you feel, Tim. But I didn’t come here to disrupt your life or confuse you. I came to explain what happened. The truth.”He scoffed lightly. Not sarcastic, he was tired mentally, tired of new “Why now? After everything? After all these years, you come back and expect me to do what, exactly? Call you mum? Smile and act like nothing happened?”She turned her head to him, eyes softer than they were when she entered the hospital.“I don’t
