DANIEL'S POV.

That's it, I'm done with shagging faceless girls. I stared at the butt naked lady laying comfortably, sound asleep on my bed and  cursed myself. How could I fall for it again? I'd promised myself no hooking up until my mum was out of the city, but look at me now standing naked above a lady I don't even remember picking up. I should stop taking too much alcohol.

I tapped the girl on the leg and she slowly stirred awake. "Hey. You need to leave right now, I'm sorry."

She blinked a few times before starring at my naked lower half with a now hungry look in her eyes. "Why? Did I do something wrong?"

She and I know she was only here because of the money. I crossed my arms and gave her my most serious look, having to ignore the fact that she was gloriously naked. "We're done here, so you need to leave right now."

She crawled off the bed and came to stand in front of me, her eyes hooded and seductive but I wasn't falling for it. "Say you want me to leave with your eyes on me."

I peeled her class away from my shoulder and pinned my gaze on her eyes. "You need to leave now."

I was kind of expecting what she did next. She slapped me square in the cheek and pushed on my chest before taking all her items and running out of the room. I wondered though, why women felt they had the right to hit men when it was an abominable thing if it were the opposite?

I unsurprisingly didn't care about what she just did, what I did care about was my stupid body's reaction to what she just did. I needed to get a grip on my womanising before it ruined me.

The sound of my phone ringing brought me out of my mind. It was my personal assistant, Clara who was apparently so excited to get me a housekeeper, so she'd finally have to stop doing housekeeping things for me. I don't blame her though, I know I'm a mess, which makes my house a mess most of the time too.

"What's up, Clara?"

"Good morning sir. I've spoken with the housekeeper and she'd be coming on Monday for the interview."

Oh. "Yeah, that's good. "

It took thirty awkward seconds before she responded. "Have you had breakfast sir or should I send some over?"

I frowned. I didn't think about how much I'd treated Clara like my maid until she'd brought up the topic of hiring one. I've learnt my lesson now, no more making her do my house chores. "There's no need for that Clara. I'll make my own breakfast."

I could feel her smile from the phone. "Oh. Okay sir, that reminds me, Mr Schumann is here waiting for you to come."

What the fuck is Schumann doing at my office? "Why? When did he arrive and why wasn't that the first thing you told me?"

"He said he wanted to speak to you when I'd asked and he just arrived about three minutes before I called you. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner sir."

I felt like a jerk once again, but I couldn't apologize to her. "Okay, just try to entertain him until I get there. "

"Okay sir," she says. I cut the call when she doesn't say anything more and dump my phone on the king-sized bed.

Schumann is my best friend but the guy really knew how to piss me off. Ever since I asked him to partner with my company for a project, he'd been acting like an asshole. Coming to my office at early hours, making decisions behind me and messing with my head, all because he knew I needed the partnership—what sort of friend does that?

Why are our friends always assholes? I don't understand.

After a two minutes rush shower, I got dressed in my usual business-casual look and skipped breakfast to make it as fast as possible. Once I reach the company, I ignored all the fake greetings I got from the employees and just rushed to my office. I know they don't really like me, there's no need for unnecessary familiarities.

I gave Clara a wink when I passed her desk and she pointed towards my office with a blush on her face(I'd never quit flirting with her even though it's unprofessional).  I pursed my lips and swung the door open.

Schumann stared at me with an unimpressed scowl on his face. "Dude really? You're coming to work this late?"

I took a seat and rubbed my forehead. "I know it's late but do you really expect me to make it here at 9am every morning without being late once?"

Schumann raised his eyebrow in question. "Don't you expect your employees to be here at 8? So why can't you?"

I huffed. "But it's my company, am I not allowed to come late?"

Schumann's face was deadpan as he said, "you were inside a chick lemme guess?"

Is he a socerer? "I was in the night, but I had a hangover so I I had to be late. I'm sorry," I frowned after I said that. "Eww. I'm not apologizing to you for anything. You're not my boss."

His stern look finally cracked and he chuckled. "Dude. You're the most irresponsible shit I've ever seen. How could you get drunk and shag a chick the day before we're to submit the final proposal."

Same reason why I was so angry at myself earlier. "I think I have a problem man. A drinking problem and a woman problem."

Schumann laughs. "I think we established that since college. You need a break though, from sex I mean. You could really get herpes or something and I don't wanna have to take care of you if that happens."

I swatted him with a book, which rose a chuckle from him. "When can we go see this guy? My head is so fucked."

Getting up, Schumann went over to the printer and brought out some papers. "We have about twenty minutes to get ready. Get your dumb ass ready. Your company needs this deal."

His words sobered me up and for the twenty minutes we went over the proposal before we were ready to go.

We were on our way to the garage which was few minutes away from the company when someone bumped into me. It happened so fast, I couldn't catch the person until I saw her fall flat to the ground with the contents of her old bag splayed around her.

"Oh shit," Schumann said, holding out his hand which she accepted. "So sorry," he helped her pick up her belongings while I thanked God for things not escalating until she opened her mouth.

"Thank you, but you," she pointed at me with embarrassment in her eyes. Some people were staring which got on my nerves. "You can't even apologize!"

I resisted the urge to scoff. "I'm sorry lady. You should look where you're going next time and maybe not be in such a hurry." I wasn't being a jerk really, she was just overreacting.

Her eyes doubled in size and she looked between me and Schumann. "Yes I was in a hurry, I admit and I'm sorry for bumping into you but you have no right to speak with such a tone to me. It's obvious you aren't sorry."

I didn't have time for the drama, but I couldn't hold back, not when people were staring. "Are you doing this for me to get interested in you? Because it seems to me that you were just going around looking for a man to pick a fight with. Bad for you, I don't like rude girls." Schumann gave me a look that said I took it too far and I just rolled my eyes. This lady was obviously crazy, her appearance said so too. Her cheap faded blue jeans and plain white t-shirt also made it obvious she was broke or just too lazy to make herself look presentable.

I felt kind of sorry for her with the look she was giving me. Her big doe eyes looked so pityfull and despite the fierce energy she was trying to exude, I was seeing right through it. She looked at my face for a long time that it got awkward, but after that she bowed her head to Schumann and walked off.

I couldn't help it, my eyes trailed after her until she got into the shopping mall across our company building, leaving me slack-jawed. What a weird lady.

People moved on without saying anything and I felt my body relax. I hated crowds and situations like that.

"Dude," Schumann laughed, placing a fist over his mouth. "What the fuck just happened between you and that girl?"

I laughed too, just to bring myself out of shock. "I don't know."

"That was like some scene from a movie I just watched—" I punched him in the stomach. He continued giggling about it until we reached our destination.

DANIEL'S POV.ONE YEAR LATER.I walked through the front door of our new cozy home, my heart brimming with excitement and anticipation. After the whole Lori incident, I'd come clean to Jessica about every single girl I'd played in the past, and because Jessica was so big hearted and understanding, she'd forgiven me, and we decided to bury all that in the past. Our journey to letting go of the past had started from getting a new home. Dad had arranged for a purchase for a new house immediately I'd told him abouy it. And though I felt like he was once again helping me out and treating me like a child—he'd explained that buying that house for us was his way of saying sorry for how bad of a father he'd been. After that day I'd come clean to him about the contract, he'd made it his everyday goal to show his remorse, and I didn't mind. I'd forgiven him already just as I'd forgiven myself for being such an asshole in the past. A smile graced my lips when my nostrils filled with the sweet aro

  • The CEO's Maid Wife   CHAPTER SEVENTY

JESSICA'S POV.The road stretched out before us, illuminated by the soft glow of the streetlights. Daniel's grip tightened on the steering wheel as we made our way home from his parents' house. The meeting had been pleasant, filled with laughter and delicious home-cooked food. And then the feeling of being known as the real Jessica and still receiving love from them felt good. Suddenly, the shrill sound of my phone shattered the silence inside the car. Startled, I fumbled to retrieve it from my purse. The caller ID displayed an unfamiliar number, and a surge of anxiety coursed through my veins. I had learnt to be weary of calls from unknown numbers these days. "Who could this be?" I whispered, uncertain. Daniel shot me a worried glance, his brows furrowing in concern. I think he was scared it was the stalker too. "I don't know, but you should answer it. It might be important."Taking a deep breath, I swiped the screen and brought the phone to my ear. "Hello?"A voice on the othe

DANIEL'S POV. As the morning sun peeked through the curtains, I slowly opened my eyes, feeling a strong wave of contentment wash over me. I turned my head to the side and saw Jessica lying next to me, her tousled hair framing her beautiful face. Last night with her had been the best night of my life, an eye-opener to the beauty of the world of sex with an emotional partner, and not just some shitty hookup. A smile immediately spread across my lips as I remembered vividly all the events of last night. She had been unpredictable and amazing, everything I'd ever wanted in my dreams. "Hey," I whispered, my voice still husky from sleep. "Good morning, beautiful."Jessica stirred and opened her eyes, greeting me with a sleepy smile. "Good morning, handsome," she replied, her voice filled with warmth. "Last night was... amazing. I didn't know you had all that in you, I totally get the Daniel Snider hype now," she joked, laughing at her own humour. I chuckled softly, reaching out to brush

JESSICA'S POV.I tiptoed out of the bathroom, wrapped in a fluffy towel, steam still wafting in the air. My heart however, raced as I realized I wasn't alone. There, standing by the door, was Daniel, his eyes widening in surprise. I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks, making me acutely aware of my semi-nakedness. And then I let out a startled gasp that cut through the silence. I'm so sorry, Jessica,"he stammered, his voice laced with a mix of panic and regret. "I didn't mean to intrude. I was wondering if you weren't home, and ..." he trailed off like he didn't know just what to say next. My voice trembled as I hurriedly wrapped the towel securely around myself, still stuck in surprise. "Daniel, what are you doing here? Why didn't you at least try to announce your arrival?" "I... I didn't think anyone else was home," he managed to reply, with his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "I came back early, and I was worried when I found the house so quiet. I... I'm sorry, Jessica. I don'

  • The CEO's Maid Wife   CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN

DANIEL'S POV.As I wrapped up another exhausting day at the office, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. The clock had seemingly ticked at a snail's pace, each minute passing by with an agonizing slowness. I yearned for the comfort of my humble abode, and talking to Jessica. But fate had other plans for me that evening.Just as I was about to shut down my computer and bid farewell to my colleagues, a faint ping emanated from my phone. I glanced at the screen to find a text message from Bianca. The name alone sent irritation down my spine, a reminder of the reckless past we shared. Her message was brief but desperate, pleading for a meeting at a nearby coffee shop. A mix of curiosity and caution filled my mind, and after much deliberation, I replied with a reserved agreement to be there. Now, behind the wheel of my car, my mind raced with questions. What could she possibly want from me after all this time? Was it another attempt to rekindle the flame that had long since burned out?

  • The CEO's Maid Wife   CHAPTER SIXTY SIX

JESSICA'S POV.I watched Daniel as he buttoned up his crisp white shirt, his face showing focus and determination. He was about to head off to work, and I knew it was now or never to tell him my plans for the day."Daniel," I called out, catching his attention. He turned to me, his eyebrows raised inquisitively. "I just wanted to let you know that I'll be going out today to visit Julia."His expression shifted from curiosity to concern in an instant. I could see the worry lines etching deep into his forehead. He walked over to where I stood by the door, his steps deliberate and measured."Jessica, are you sure about this?" He asked, his tone tinged with worry. "You remember what happened the last time you went out alone. And I'm not sure it's safe for you to go with your leg still unstable." I nodded, memories of that fateful day flooding my mind. But I had healed considerably since then, though not completely. At least I could stand on my two feet and move around better than before.
