Chapter 13

She waited in the shadows for the noise to die down. When she couldn't hear anything except the not-so-distant excited shrieks and howls coupled with relentless beats from the west wing, she sat down by the fountain, overwhelmed with guilt and sadness.

If only she was getting married to Dhruv and not deceiving him or her parents. He was doing his best to help her, but she couldn't think about anything except Rafael. Staying at his place and not being able to see him was driving her crazy.

"I'm a horrible person," she whispered quietly and sobbed. Once she felt better, she took long strides to run indoors as the cold breeze blew past her.
