Chapter 19~ The gala

The next day was the the start of the weekend and also, the day of the gala.

Claire met Wesley for the first time when he came to pick her up for the event.

“I can’t believe this is the way we are meeting,” Claire remarked as she approached Wesley’s car.

She gave him a once over and nodded in approval. He was handsome with brown hair and dark eyes. At least he looked like his profile picture.

Wesley chuckled and held out his hand. When Claire shook his hand, he brought it to his lips and placed a kiss on the top of her hand. Glancing at her, he said, “I just want to say, I was right. You look stunningly gorgeous in person.”

Claire’s cheeks flushed pink. She cleared her throat and suggested, “Shall we?”

Wesley glanced up at the building and asked, “Am I not meeting your daughter tonight?”
