DAMIEN'S POV
“Father, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not coming home,” I said as I moved my hand to end the call, but his voice called out before I could tap the red button. “I don't know what grudge you have against your stepmother, but it's been nine years since you and your step-sister ran away from home. Don't you think you should let bygones be bygones? Can't you just see her as your mother-” “She would never be my mother. Go ask your damn wife what she did to me. You claim to be my father yet you know nothing about your son's life. Go ask your wife how she nearly ruined my life!” I yelled and before he could say another word, I hung up. Today just had to start on a very annoying note. I flipped through the files in front of me in anger, and when someone opened the door without knocking, I was ready to transfer my aggression to whoever it was. “Do you have no manners-” My gaze softened when I realized it was her but after remembering what she did, my gaze hardened immediately as my hands balled into fists. “You seem angry. Who's trying to piss my man off?” She whispered in her soft voice, definitely not aware of the secret I found out and I let out a scoff of annoyance. “Everyone seems to be getting on my nerves this morning,” I mumbled in dissatisfaction as she inched closer and placed the papers on my desk before moving to sit on my lap. “Well, what can I do to help?” She asked softly as she wrapped her arms around my neck and a small smirk formed on my lips. “You know what I want…” I mumbled as I nuzzled my face into her neck but she quickly pushed me away and got off me, just like she always did. “I already told you I wasn't ready-” “When are you ever going to be ready, Sylvia? I've been patient for two good years now! What exactly is my offense?” I nearly yelled in anger and she rubbed her neck nervously as she looked at me with a pitiful expression. “Just give me a little more time…” “A little more time? Fine. But first, you have to explain this to me.” I reached into the drawer of my desk and took out pictures taken of her and different men in hotels and clubs. “Mind explaining what this means?” I pushed the pictures towards her and I watched as her expression changed from confusion to that of shock and horror. “What… How… Who gave you this? Have you been stalking me?” She asked in horror and I let out a scoff of disbelief as I ran my hand through my hair. “So it is true… I've been patient all this while, thinking it was my fault that you didn't want me the way I wanted you. But you've been cheating on me this whole time? Did you have fun messing with me? Was this why you had always wanted to keep our relationship a secret?” “Damien, listen to me… I can explain-” “Tell me the truth. Did you or did you not sleep with those men?” I asked bluntly and my heart sank when she nodded slowly. “B-but I can explain! This was long ago before I met you!!” She tried to defend herself, but I wasn't having any more of her nonsense. “I'm not stupid, Sylvia. Those pictures are dated! Last week, last month, last year… How could you do this to me?” My voice cracked as I spoke, and she started to cry as she approached me, trying to make up excuses, but I was done listening. “Get out. We're over.” I pointed at the door as I glanced at her coldly and she stumbled backward in shock, desperation written all over her face. “Damien, please! It was a mistake, don't do this to me… to us!” She cried out as she came close to me but I moved out of the way so that she couldn't touch me. “You should have thought about us before you decided to cheat. I'm not firing you, I'm not that selfish. Just go. We're done.” She stared at me for a while before wiping her tears and storming out of my office. I raked my fingers through my hair as I collapsed into my chair and tried to calm myself down. I buried myself in the pile of work sitting on my desk so that I didn't need to think about how my girlfriend betrayed me and treated me like a fool. The day went by in a flash and to my disappointment, Sylvia didn't show up again at my office after she stormed out. I had to get her off my mind, so I got into the car and drove around Texas to clear my head. The car suddenly came to a stop in front of a club and I realized that I was low on gas. “Fuck, how did I not notice this?” I muttered in disappointment as I got out and looked around. The place looked shabby and not my kind of taste. But I needed help so I swallowed in my pride and went into the club. Before I could take two steps in, I was surrounded by a group of teenage girls who seemed to have no intentions of letting me go. I had no idea how to get out of this situation as I had never been to a place like this before. Suddenly, a lady was in front of me, taking my side as if she knew me and helping me escape from their clutches. The moment I caught her appearance after she had taken me outside, I couldn't help but be mesmerized. She was extremely beautiful. Her eyes held depths of coldness like she had deep secrets locked in there that she wouldn't want anyone to find out. She demanded that I pay her for helping me out, but as we spoke, I couldn't help but notice the tiny movements she made when she met my gaze. She moved from one foot to the other and constantly played with her fingers like she was nervous even though her expression was blank. I didn't think twice when the words came to my head so I blurted it out immediately, not caring about the consequences of my words or actions. I wanted to get revenge on Sylvia. “Spend one night with me and I'll pay you a thousand dollars.” “The fuck?” She yelled as she yanked her hand away from mine and crossed her arms in annoyance. “Do you think I'm some kind of harlot you can pick up on the street?” “That's not what I meant. But apparently, you're lonely. I'm also lonely, so why don't we keep each other's company?” I suggested with a sly smirk and she eyed me for a minute. What the fuck was I doing? “The CEO of Daro and Co. is lonely? How hilarious. Fine, I'll accept your request. But I don't want a thousand dollars. I want something else.” She replied as she inched closer, a small smirk on her lips and I found myself gulping in response. “Name it.” “You give me a job offer in your company.”JULIE'S POVI opened my eyes again as slowly as I could but found the tiger image staring at me from above, I closed back my eyes counting down to hundred. I opened up my eyes once again and I was still in that same room.I heaved out, it might not have been an illusion after all. I tilted my head to the right and then to the left and found my brother lying right beside me, his head bent on the bed. I stared at him nonstop and slowly moved over my hands to touch him. He was alive and breathing I thought, his body was as warm as that of a human, and that moment I felt hot tears freeing itself from the grip of my eyes.I rested my head back into the pillow in an attempt to suck the tears back in, I shut my eyes close again and opened it up. This time my eyes met with Damians as he stood staring down into my face.“Julie” he called my name as he blinked repeatedly at me.“You're up?” He said but it sounded more like a question.“Brother” I said out loud with a shaky voice, it really wasn
DAMIAN'S POVI rushed over into the room jullie had been lying to sleep in and came face to face with her in front of the door. She stared bewildered at me like she had seen a ghost and I wondered if she was in any way unhappy to see me. I had thought I lost her forever when she was brought out in a pool of blood. The following morning after having a night filled with nightmares, maybe due to my worry for Julie or the room aesthetic I wouldn't be so sure, I woke up with a swollen eyes but wouldn't care, it was daybreak and Karim had promised to analyze the location on the map as soon as day broke.I hurried into the bathroom and had a quick shower rushing down the stairs the moment I put on casual wear. I walked towards the dinning and found Karim seated side by side with Luke and I wondered why they were up earlier than I was.“Ahhha, you are here” Karim said the moment I was close enough to them, he got up on his feet and Luke did the same.“Morning sir,” Luke said, bowing his head
JULIE'S POVI heard background chatter from a distance but kept my eyes shut, the language was strange to my ears and I wondered if that was how angels spoke in heaven, or had I gotten down to hell? I wasn't really a bad person all I did was end my life of distress, I happened to do it for the good of so many others so if God were to be considerate enough he was gonna let me into heaven, I kept my eyes shut as I tried to figure out the conversation ongoing.I should at least understand a thing or two. I felt a wince of pain on my wrist and wondered why my spirit still had to feel the pain I had tried so hard to escape from. I sighed out so loud as I prepared my eyes for the sight it was about to behold.I slowly opened up my eyes as it met with an image of a tiger staring down at me from above the room.I would have lost my footing at that moment if I hadn't been laying down. I turned towards my left and found a weird looking sculpture. The more I looked around the room the weirder it
MARIA'S POVThere is a thin line between fear and courage. While fear can hold us back, courage is about facing and overcoming those fears. It is such a beautiful thing to watch humans dangle between fear and courage and I love the fact that I can see through these lines.Up from Damian I watched him wallow in fear from his childhood even till this point, he had refused to overcome his fear which was me and I was so glad to rekindle his fear whenever I was opportuned.Damian ran off with jullie years ago and I felt it was courage slipping in but I guess I was wrong, he still hadn't overcome his fear despite all those years.I was extremely pained I had lost my little toy, I could no longer torment Damian as he was far away from me. During those years, I resorted to play rooms. I would hire men and torture them using sex as a leverage, I felt extremely excited when I see a man or men beg me on their knees. In love, dominating and hated the fact I was a woman, nevertheless I wouldn't le
JASON'S POVI had it all planned out, from Maria to Damian to Rogas Empire. I found out Damian had gotten a gig with the main Vogue designs and I was losing it, this was never the plan.Damian’s company was fast rising as against mine, Using Maria's help I had thought I was able to tie him down for a while but I guess not. This infuriated me as I worked on getting his videos out on air, they was no way any brand was gonna be willing to work with him if he lost his fucking reputation, I was gonna crush that if that was all I could do to him.As for his sister, I wouldn't let Maria get so emotional about her child, we were gonna use her till whenever. It surely was gonna weigh damia down at some point, even if he claims to be strong he wouldn't be for long, not when he begins to see pictures and videos of her being beaten up.I woke up with the news of Damians new contract, my informat had told me he boarded a plane to San Francisco on a business trip.I lost my cool that moment and for
JULIE'S POVI looked towards the gate as we drove back into the building, my eyes too weak to cry, I looked behind and realized the car carrying Ruth hadn't been tailing along. I began to panic at that moment, I knew something had gone wrong.“Where is Ruth” I said as I shook on the guard next to me“Where did they drive her too?” I was now hitting on his legs as I screamed.“You gonna stay still or get in trouble with me”“I don't care, take me to Ruth” I screamed out as the door pulled open, I rushed out of it and hurried towards the gate but was caught before I ran three steps. He held unto me and pulled me up, resting me into his shoulder, I slapped and hit on his back but it looked as though my aggressive punches made no impact on his body, my wrist were beginning to hurt so bad and I wouldn't stop hitting on him until he got into my room, he flung me off into the bed and turned to leave but paused abruptly.“You gonna have to behave yourself if you want the people around you to
