DAMIEN'S POV

“Father, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not coming home,” I said as I moved my hand to end the call, but his voice called out before I could tap the red button.

“I don't know what grudge you have against your stepmother, but it's been nine years since you and your step-sister ran away from home. Don't you think you should let bygones be bygones? Can't you just see her as your mother-”

“She would never be my mother. Go ask your damn wife what she did to me. You claim to be my father yet you know nothing about your son's life. Go ask your wife how she nearly ruined my life!” I yelled and before he could say another word, I hung up.

Today just had to start on a very annoying note.

I flipped through the files in front of me in anger, and when someone opened the door without knocking, I was ready to transfer my aggression to whoever it was.

“Do you have no manners-” My gaze softened when I realized it was her but after remembering what she did, my gaze hardened immediately as my hands balled into fists.

“You seem angry. Who's trying to piss my man off?” She whispered in her soft voice, definitely not aware of the secret I found out and I let out a scoff of annoyance.

“Everyone seems to be getting on my nerves this morning,” I mumbled in dissatisfaction as she inched closer and placed the papers on my desk before moving to sit on my lap.

“Well, what can I do to help?” She asked softly as she wrapped her arms around my neck and a small smirk formed on my lips.

“You know what I want…” I mumbled as I nuzzled my face into her neck but she quickly pushed me away and got off me, just like she always did.

“I already told you I wasn't ready-”

“When are you ever going to be ready, Sylvia? I've been patient for two good years now! What exactly is my offense?” I nearly yelled in anger and she rubbed her neck nervously as she looked at me with a pitiful expression.

“Just give me a little more time…”

“A little more time? Fine. But first, you have to explain this to me.” I reached into the drawer of my desk and took out pictures taken of her and different men in hotels and clubs.

“Mind explaining what this means?” I pushed the pictures towards her and I watched as her expression changed from confusion to that of shock and horror.

“What… How… Who gave you this? Have you been stalking me?” She asked in horror and I let out a scoff of disbelief as I ran my hand through my hair.

“So it is true… I've been patient all this while, thinking it was my fault that you didn't want me the way I wanted you. But you've been cheating on me this whole time? Did you have fun messing with me? Was this why you had always wanted to keep our relationship a secret?”

“Damien, listen to me… I can explain-”

“Tell me the truth. Did you or did you not sleep with those men?” I asked bluntly and my heart sank when she nodded slowly.

“B-but I can explain! This was long ago before I met you!!” She tried to defend herself, but I wasn't having any more of her nonsense.

“I'm not stupid, Sylvia. Those pictures are dated! Last week, last month, last year… How could you do this to me?” My voice cracked as I spoke, and she started to cry as she approached me, trying to make up excuses, but I was done listening.

“Get out. We're over.” I pointed at the door as I glanced at her coldly and she stumbled backward in shock, desperation written all over her face.

“Damien, please! It was a mistake, don't do this to me… to us!” She cried out as she came close to me but I moved out of the way so that she couldn't touch me.

“You should have thought about us before you decided to cheat. I'm not firing you, I'm not that selfish. Just go. We're done.”

She stared at me for a while before wiping her tears and storming out of my office. I raked my fingers through my hair as I collapsed into my chair and tried to calm myself down.

I buried myself in the pile of work sitting on my desk so that I didn't need to think about how my girlfriend betrayed me and treated me like a fool.

The day went by in a flash and to my disappointment, Sylvia didn't show up again at my office after she stormed out. I had to get her off my mind, so I got into the car and drove around Texas to clear my head.

The car suddenly came to a stop in front of a club and I realized that I was low on gas.

“Fuck, how did I not notice this?” I muttered in disappointment as I got out and looked around. The place looked shabby and not my kind of taste. But I needed help so I swallowed in my pride and went into the club.

Before I could take two steps in, I was surrounded by a group of teenage girls who seemed to have no intentions of letting me go. I had no idea how to get out of this situation as I had never been to a place like this before.

Suddenly, a lady was in front of me, taking my side as if she knew me and helping me escape from their clutches. The moment I caught her appearance after she had taken me outside, I couldn't help but be mesmerized.

She was extremely beautiful. Her eyes held depths of coldness like she had deep secrets locked in there that she wouldn't want anyone to find out.

She demanded that I pay her for helping me out, but as we spoke, I couldn't help but notice the tiny movements she made when she met my gaze. She moved from one foot to the other and constantly played with her fingers like she was nervous even though her expression was blank.

I didn't think twice when the words came to my head so I blurted it out immediately, not caring about the consequences of my words or actions. I wanted to get revenge on Sylvia.

“Spend one night with me and I'll pay you a thousand dollars.”

“The fuck?” She yelled as she yanked her hand away from mine and crossed her arms in annoyance. “Do you think I'm some kind of harlot you can pick up on the street?”

“That's not what I meant. But apparently, you're lonely. I'm also lonely, so why don't we keep each other's company?” I suggested with a sly smirk and she eyed me for a minute.

What the fuck was I doing?

“The CEO of Daro and Co. is lonely? How hilarious. Fine, I'll accept your request. But I don't want a thousand dollars. I want something else.” She replied as she inched closer, a small smirk on her lips and I found myself gulping in response.

“Name it.”

“You give me a job offer in your company.”

ELLA/DAMIAN'S POV DAMIAN'S POV I held Ella by the hand as we walked into the restaurant. It was a cold evening and I had her put on my suit jacket above her red dinner dress. The restaurant was totally empty because I booked out the whole place. I wouldn't want Ella feeling uncomfortable for any reason. I had my hands tucked into my trouser jacket as I clutched tightly on the ring case in it. I felt a bit anxious but I knew I needed to do this. I pulled a sit out for Ella and watched her sit right into it as I sat directly opposite to her, she had this weary smile on her face and I wondered why. “Why is the place this quiet?” She asked, rolling her eyes all around the room, I gave off a weird smirk but said nothing else to her. “What would you like to have?” The waitress asked, walking towards us, I looked through the menu and found Ella doing the same, she seemed so confused as to what she was gonna order. “The steak here is nice,” I said, giving off a reassuring smile.

DAMIAN'S POV“Was it really over!?”I found myself pondering on that question every minute of the day, the image of Maria laying flat on the ground, her blood splattered all around couldn't stop replaying in my head. Her death seemed like the end of it all, the torture, the nightmares the pain I had to go through for years. I didn't wish for her death, but her death brought freedom for us all.We left the police station and I felt even better. I watched Jason drop down on his feet in defeat. He knew it was the end for himself. The only person I felt a bit of pity for was Sylvia, although she was gonna pay for her crimes nonetheless, everyone needed to take responsibility for their actions. She committed them all fully conscious, her being remorseful was only a sign of repentance, she could fully repent whilst serving time.I looked at Ella as we drove back to the house, she looked extremely anxious and I could guess she had the same question in her head. Was it really over, maybe ther

  • Falling for the CEO Who Ruined My Best Friend   CHAPTER 176

ELLA'S POV The drive back home was silent as I wondered what Damian might be thinking of me. I vowed never to tell a man I had lost my womb during an abortion. But seeing Damian, I was willing to trade it all. As much as I claimed I didn't want to end up with Damian, a part of me still begged God to make him mine. I couldn't imagine a life without him any longer, but I wasn't ready to punish someone else for my own sins. We were now home and I couldn't stare into Damians face, I hurried towards the door not waiting for him to say a word to me. I was utterly embarrassed, I let out my deepest secret and worst of all, I cried like an infant in Damians arms. I got into the room and shut the door behind as I fell down flat into the bed. I found myself sobbing uncontrollably, I didn't know what my fate held unto, I cried my eyes out till my voice felt cranky. “Ella?” I heard a knock on the door, it was Anna and I was sure she wanted me out for dinner. I couldn't afford to stare back at

  • Falling for the CEO Who Ruined My Best Friend   CHAPTER 175

ELLA'S POVWe left the police station in silence as we drove back towards the house down side Texas, I rubbed my sweaty palms continuously on my dress and I was sure Damian had noticed that. He also seemed to be so anxious, everything seemed to be happening so fast, first Damian's dad was murdered then his stepmom killing herself and now Jason's surrender in total defeat, it seemed as though a greater storm was on the way. How was I right beside Damian without the fear of anything, I didn't know if what I felt was peace or it was just the feeling of calmness before a wagging storm surfaced. Damian looked into my eyes and held onto my hands so tightly as if to reassure me it really was all over, there wasn't any stalker, neither was there a toxic ex. I really was free, I rested my head into the chair and sighed in deep relief.A part of my chest still throbbed in pain, I had lost my friend, I really got betrayed by my own friend Sylvia. The look in her eyes at the police station clearl

JASON'S POVAfter the legal team left, I never saw them at the police station again. I wondered how this incident went to light, I suspected Damian pushed it out into the public, I called my own lawyers and although they assured me I was gonna be out, the odds were so low. Dad had dragged onto the public sentiment as he spoke with the media pleading with the masses and assuring them justice was gonna be served in my case. He was a fucking traitor to leave his own son at the face of crisis, that actually was just like him, he always did what was best for the company, not caring about me or anyone else. I was totally fucked and I needed a way out, with dad out and Maria off the radar I could fall back on Damian and if it didn't turn out well I was gonna crawl on my knees to Maria.Sylvia was a fucking idiot, and I regretted the day I decided to join hands with her, she was blood but certainly didn't behave as one. She had implicated us both and wouldn't even try to get us out as she acc

  • Falling for the CEO Who Ruined My Best Friend   CHAPTER 173

DAMIAN'S POVWe were back to the desk where it all began for Ella, where the thought of revenge sprang up, where her anger multiplied. The same desk she got to know how bitter people were about her. The only difference today was that there were two victims and two assailants. Tommy looked at us four with keen interest, he wouldn't want an outburst whilst he was helping me. I needed to see Jason and make it known to him that he never was leaving the cell, he had tried it all but I came to assure him he was at a loss. Sylvia sat right beside him, her eyes so bulgy, she certainly had cried her fucking eyes out. I was glad she at least knew it was the end for her.“I don't wanna be here, can I leave?” Sylvia raised up her head as she spoke, I'm quite sure she was overly surprised to see me still alive and well.“No you can't,” Tommy simply said.“I've said it all, what more do you want me for!!!” She snapped. I was sure her pride couldn't let her sit in the same room as me and Ella, she c
