Watching Niccola leave is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. I had to watch her leave me one more time, and this time for good. I sit back down as Monica’s hand rests on my arm, and I move it with one swift movement. I can’t stand her touch, especially after feeling Niccola’s once more. I have dreamt about that moment for days. And now I know I can’t have her. I don’t have a way out of this. I thought I could.
“Smile, darling, people are starting to notice,” Monica says, and I stare at her in disbelief.
“I am not going to entertain this any longer,” I say, and her eyes meet mine as her eyebrows raise and she offers me a cold smile.
“That’s where you’re wrong, darling, the contract is very clear, you either marry me, or you lose everything,” Monica says, and I close my eyes for a split second. I need to get this contract overturned, but right now I can’t do anything. I can’t risk losing my company, my money, everything I have worked so hard to build and accomplish.
“Excuse me,” I say, standing up, doing the buttons of my jacket, and walking away from Monica. I can’t stand being next to her one more minute. I walk out of the venue, leaving everyone and everything behind. I stood in the middle of the street looking around, and then it clicked. The other girl. I walk back inside, looking from side to side, and she is nowhere to be seen.
“She’s at the Plaza,” I hear someone say, and I turn around to find the girl I saw with Niccola earlier. “Look, I don’t know what your plan is, but I would recommend you stay away from Nicco,” she adds, and I nod slightly.
“What room?” I ask, and she inhales deeply, closing her eyes for a split second, and when they open and meet mine, I know I am about to be dealing with some girl code bullshit, and I don’t have time for this. I need to see her one more time.
“411,” she says, and I nod, walking away. I need to get to Niccola and make her see I don’t stand a chance now. I wish I did. I will make this go away, but I need some time. Getting to the plaza felt like forever, but once I was standing in front of her room, I felt like a teenage boy trying to ask his first crush out on a date.
I move my hands up and down my trousers, trying to clear them from the sweat I feel they are drenched in. I lift my hand and leave it there for a second before gathering the courage to knock on the door, and when Niccola opens the door, I feel like everything else around us has just disappeared.
“What are you doing here?” She asks. Her eyes are bloodshot red, her face puffy, and I feel like the biggest asshole in the world. I caused this. I am an asshole, but I wasn’t trying to be with her.
“Can I come in?” I ask, trying to be polite. Niccola’s eyes meet mine, and I see it there; she doesn’t want me near her. I can see the disgust, the loss of trust. Trust. How could she trust me? She doesn’t even know me.
“No,” she says, crossing her arms in front of her perfect, round breasts.
“Niccola…” I start, but she raises a hand, cutting me off. The way her body moves and how she looks is like a vision of heaven for me. I would burn the fucking world for this woman. She is everything I never knew I wanted in a woman.
“I am not interested in what you have to say. That night was a mistake, today was a mistake, you are getting married to my mother…” she says, and then she laughs lightly, closing her eyes, and when they meet mine again, I see the fire in them I saw that night. “My mother, of all people, maybe I should call you daddy now,” she tells me.
I am done with this brattiness of hers. I take one step closer to her, shortening our distance, but she doesn’t move; she stays still, just watching me, challenging me. “You can call me whatever you want, but if daddy is one of your kinks, I am here for it,” I say before I pull her to me and close the distance between us, locking our lips with a kiss.
Niccola tries to fight me off in the beginning, but soon after she gives in, she allows herself to enjoy the kiss like I am enjoying. Her entire body melts against mine as I move us inside the room, closing the door with my foot behind us. I don’t need any witnesses for what I am about to do to this woman once our bodies hit the bed.

Niccola Fairchild“No, no, we can’t do this,” I say as I place my hands on Cole’s chest and push him away from me, but, opposed to what you see in the movies, he doesn’t budge. His entire body stays in place, against mine as his eyes scan my face, his eyes moving from my eyes to my lips and back to my eyes. “No, what we can’t do is stay away from each other; you feel it. I know you do,” he says, and I almost give in. It’s like his voice has mind-controlling power or some shit. I shake my head, trying to clear my head as Cole’s hand rests on my face. Slowly, he moves his fingers, resting them under my chin, forcing me to look up at him.“Fucking look at me, Niccola,” Cole says, and I snap my eyes open to meet his blue ones, and I can’t help but smile slightly. “I can’t stay away from you, I don’t know what kind of spell you put on me, but I just can’t,” he says, and I nod slightly before his lips meet mine again. His kiss tastes like hell and heaven at the same time. I don’t know how
Niccola Fairchild I still can’t believe my eyes as I look over my shoulder to find Cole here. His name is Cole, of course, it is, a name as beautiful as he is. Why didn’t I do my homework when it came to my mother? In my defense, how could I have known my mother would marry someone like him? Her usual targets are older men, almost dying men, men who will leave their fortune to her because they think she will take care of them. What a joke. “What is going on?” Steph asks, and I snap my head around, looking at her, trying to pretend everything is okay, but I can feel his eye on me. “Do you know him?” She asks, lifting her chin slightly, pointing at Cole.“Shhhh,” I say, pulling her by her wrist to the corner of the room away from prying eyes and ears. “Hey, you’re hurting me. What the hell is going on, Nicci? You have been on edge since your mother introduced you to her husband.” She says, and I close my eyes for a second, and when I open them, it’s like Steph can read my mind. “BAR
Cole Sutcliffe POV“I really don’t care,” I let out without lifting my eyes from my laptop. I can’t believe this is happening to me. Why did I agree to this? I pinch the bridge of my nose as a headache starts to make its way to torment me. “But it is your wedding day too,” Monica says, and I let out a breath, trying to control my mood. This woman has the ability to make me lose my shit so easily. “I told you I don’t fucking care, now leave, and let me work,” I bark at her, and she clicks her tongue as she looks at me, crossing her arms in front of her chest. Her eyes meet mine as a sinister smile appears on her lips. “Okay, now don’t forget we have dinner booked tonight at eight, don’t be late, please, and wear a blue tie so you can match my dress,” Monica adds, and I wave my hand trying to dismiss her. Acquiring Fairchild Enterprises is becoming harder than I thought it was going to be, and it’s not even for the actual work; it’s for dealing with the woman attached to the company
Niccola Fairchild“Let’s get out of here,” he whispers in my ear in the most sensual tone I have ever heard in my life. The way his words travel down my body makes me realise this man can have any woman he wants, and he is freaking choosing me. I nod as I hold on to his tie, pulling him close to me one more time, erasing the distance between us. His hands move to my ass, pressing my front to his, and I can feel his erection against my body. I was never one for one-night stands. Although all my relationships ended with me being cheated on… I am probably what people call a serial monogamist. I hate being alone, and according to Steph, that is my only flaw. Obviously, that’s not true, but I really don’t know how to be alone, and maybe the fact that I haven’t been in a relationship for more than four months is now making me a one-night stand slut. “Yes,” I whisper against his lips. Immediately, he pulls away, retrieving his wallet from the inside pocket of his suit jacket that was hangi
Niccola Fairchild POV“That fucking weasel,” I say as I enter my office, followed by Steph. I shake my head, allowing a single tear to roll down my cheek. I immediately clean it with the sleeve of my blouse as I pace my office from side to side, not being able to think or process what just happened. “I don’t understand. What is she getting out of this?” Steph asks as she leans against the door with her arms crossed in front of her chest, and I shake my head, way too angry to speak. I haven’t seen my mother for over ten years, and suddenly she appears out of thin fucking air demanding that I work for her? Hell no. I am not going to allow this to happen. “Control,” I let out through gritted teeth. “What?” Steph asks as she frowns, moving from the door and standing in front of me with her arms crossed in front of her chest. “Control, she thinks she can control me,” I say, and Steph lets out the loudest laugh I have ever heard coming out of her mouth. “Has she even met you?” She says
