Fiona POV

Sebastian really did meet me at a café. He was sitting there waiting for me, and when he saw me, he stood up to greet me.

“Hi...” He wanted to come closer to hug me, but I pulled back a little. It was still too early for hugs. He swallowed hard, looking hurt, but he behaved well. “I'm glad you agreed to meet me.” He pointed to the chair in front of him.

I sat down, crossing my legs. “Good to see you too,” I smiled minimally.

We ordered a snack, some cake, and a hot drink, and then he talked about his work, Grandma Corine, and his dog Coco. I was glad to hear that everything was going well, that his family was fine, but I didn't see the need for him to tell me all that.

“I'm going to start working too,” I said, after taking a sip of my coffee.

“Really? That's great,” he smiled.

I shrugged. “Yeah. I have to make up for the last three lost years,” I said with a hint of malice so he would realize I was talking about the three years I spent married to him.

  • The CEO's Unwanted Wife    75: Trust

Third POVFiona woke up suddenly, chest rising and falling fast, whole body cold with sweat, bitter taste in the roof of the mouth. The nightmare was still stuck in the mind like spider web. She saw Eli on the stretcher again, blood on the face, the paramedics running, and her scream echoing without leaving the throat. It was always the same dream from which she could never get rid of, that dream that always left her heart tight and made her have a terrible day after appearing. She hated that.Breathed deep several times, tried to calm down, reached out to the side of the bed looking for Sebastian’s warmth, the touch that always brought her back. But the place was empty. The sheet cold. She sat up fast, heart racing again, eyes looking in the dark. The faint moonlight came in through the open window, drawing the room in shades of blue and silver. Sebastian was there, standing, back to her, looking out at the night. His silhouette looked like a statue, tense shoulders, arms crossed,

Third POVHours after the accident, the doorbell rang at the Blackwood mansion.Sebastian opened the door and found Sofia there, face pale with worry, small bag in hand, eyes already watery behind the big sunglasses, even before entering.“Hi, Sofia. Good you came,” he said, giving her a brief hug.“Oh, dear. I wish I could have come even earlier… Where is she?” She asked already anxious.“There on the couch waiting for you,” Sebastian said with a small smile, making room for his mother-in-law to pass. When Sofia saw her daughter sitting on the living room couch, wrapped in a thick blanket, a teacup in slightly shaking hands, she ran to hug her hard, as if she needed to feel she was really whole.“Mommy…” Fiona cried to her mom, hugging her back.“My daughter… my God in heaven… you’re really okay?” She ran her hands over Fiona’s face, hair, arms, looking for bruises, checking every inch with scared mother eyes.Fiona moaned weakly, hugging her back, voice still hoarse from crying. “

  • The CEO's Unwanted Wife    73: Safe heaven

Third POVSebastian drove the whole way in silence, one hand firm on the wheel, the other holding Fiona’s hand as if it was the only thing keeping her in the world. She was curled up in the passenger seat, face pale, eyes red and swollen from crying so much. Every now and then her whole body shook, a tremor that came from inside, as if the shock was still running through her veins. The light blue dress was dirty with dust and a little torn at the hem, hair messy, but she didn’t even seem to notice. No matter how much Sebastian was there with her, she still couldn’t get the image of the headlights aiming straight at her and the sound of the runaway car’s wheels, ready to end her life.Fiona curled up automatically, made a face and then sobbed in despair. She would literally be dead now, thinking about it was so terrifying.Sebastian stroked her hand, squeezing harder. “Everything’s okay, my love. You’re safe now with me…” he said, having already been through a serious enough accident

Third POVThe world turned into a blur in the blink of an eye. Fiona saw the white headlights coming straight at her, blinding, the black car accelerating as if it had a single objective: to end her. The sound of the engine roaring seemed like thunder. In the thousandth of a second, instinct took over. She turned the wheel with all her strength, the tires screamed on the asphalt, her car skidded, hit the curb with violence, the airbag exploded in her face, but stayed upright. The black car flew past her side, completely lost control and crashed head-on into a concrete pole with a crash that made the ground shake and the windows of nearby buildings vibrate. The silence that came after was worse than any noise. The black car’s engine was still spewing black smoke. Shattered glass everywhere. The pole was bent, wires throwing blue sparks in the dark. The smell of burnt rubber and gasoline invaded everything.Fiona was shaking so much she could barely hold the wheel. The heart was b

  • The CEO's Unwanted Wife    71: Tea time

Fiona POV I was in the middle of a meeting with the production team when the intercom rang. My mom’s secretary, serious voice. “Mrs. Clarke wants to speak with Mrs. Blackwood now.” Everyone in the room exchanged quick little looks, that silence that falls when the CEO calls like that, in the middle of the workday, out of nowhere. I already stood up right away, grabbed the tablet, heart racing. “I’ll be right back, guys. Keep adjusting the elastic on the Curve Power.” I ran to the elevator, fixed my blazer, fixed my hair, took a deep breath. My mom almost never called me to her office like that. Only when it was a million-dollar budget, supplier crisis, or something that would change the whole company. My head was already traveling through a thousand bad scenarios. I got to the dark wood double door, knocked twice, entered. And there she was. Sitting in the giant armchair, legs crossed, tea cup in hand, smiling from ear to ear like she had won the lottery. “Close the door, daug

  • The CEO's Unwanted Wife    70: Not everything is fine

Third Person's POV Ross was hospitalized again. The relapse had been strong this time. Her father, Hudson, showed up at the apartment without warning, as he always did when he wanted to command. He shouted that she was “ruining her life”, that she was old enough to marry his partner’s son, that she should stop “causing trouble” and “embarrassing the family”. “I need you to stop meddling in my life, Dad. I can’t take you pressuring every decision I make anymore,” she retorted, her gaze anguished. “I’m doing this because it’s best for you,” Hudson insisted. “Is this really what you want from your life? Living stuffing yourself with pills like a failure?” “Dad, depression isn’t a tantrum. It’s serious, and you’re only making things worse when you belittle me and attack me like this. Please just leave me alone,” Ross begged. “You will stop this nonsense yes, you’ll go to the meeting I set up with the suitor and you’ll marry and give children to this man just like a traditional woman
