Chapter 112 – Inheritance War

Author: Ernest Brooks
last update Last Updated: 2025-05-13 23:39:16

The ride to the Montrose law offices was a blur. Rain spattered the tinted windows of the car as Elena sat rigidly in the back seat, her mind a storm of questions, all clawing for answers. Damien had offered to come with her, but she'd declined. This was her family's mess……her burden…..and she needed clarity without distraction. Especially not from a man whose silence over breakfast had spoken volumes more than words.

The marble facade of the Montrose legal headquarters loomed like a mausoleum. Cold. Regal. Unforgiving. A building meant for preserving legacies, and burying truths.

Elena walked through the glass doors with her head held high, her black heels striking the floor with controlled precision. She had grown up roaming these halls as a child, eating mints from the receptionist's desk and pretending to be a judge in the mock courtroom her father had once built as a publicity stunt.

Today, she wasn’t pretending.

She was a woman on the edge of unraveling everything.

Elena,I used to believe the world could end with a bang. Explosions. Betrayal. Fire. But I was wrong.Sometimes, the world ends with “doubt”.And it spreads faster than any flame.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The media didn’t wait.By dawn, Montrose Bloodline Scandal was a trending topic across every platform. Every photo of me and Damien was recast under a new, ruthless lens—"The Heiress and Her Empire: Built on a Lie?"They dissected everything. My childhood. My education. My leadership at Crest. The number of shares I controlled.Even the way I smiled at charity galas. All of it was weaponized.I sat alone in the PR war room, a dozen screens playing a dozen broadcasts, each one more brutal than the last.“Anonymous sources claim Elena Montrose’s entire identity may be based on falsified inheritance...”“If her sister wins in court, we could see the biggest corporate reallocation in a decade...”“Some sharehold

  • The CEO’s Vengeful Bride   Chapter 114 – “A Sister’s Wrath”

ElenaThere are moments when your life doesn’t shatter with a scream but with silence. The kind that echoes in your bones, crawling up your spine like a cold wind that knows your name.Sierra was my sister. My blood. My mirror in a world I never saw coming. And now, she wanted war.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The press conference was scheduled with brutal precision – no leaks, no whispers, no hint of warning. Just a formal invitation, discreetly sent to all media outlets that had ever whispered the Montrose name with reverence or scandal. It was held at a boutique law firm downtown. Not the kind that begged for tabloid attention. The kind that quietly restructured legacies.I watched from Damien’s office, the walls of Crest Tower as cold as the tension bleeding through the screen. There she stood.Sierra.Wearing white……clean, pristine, deliberate. Her hair coiled back, her makeup soft but surgical in

ElenaThe air in the Crest penthouse was thick with silence. Not the peaceful kind. The kind that follows shock, dangerous and humming with the weight of truth not yet spoken.I stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the city blink like it didn’t just fall apart. Like my name wasn’t on the edge of ruin. Like I didn’t just discover I might not be the only Montrose daughter.DNA testing. It sounded clinical, detached. But the moment the samples were couriered off in a secure package with no traceable trail, it became real.Damien had made the arrangements through a private firm used only by those with more to lose than the truth itself.“Under the radar,” he’d said. “No labs tied to Crest. No chance of tampering.”Now, the waiting was agony.I clutched the journal in my hand…..my mother’s. One of many I’d inherited and barely touched. The leather was cracked at the corners, the ink faded in parts. I'd never thought to dissect it. Never thought her soft words hid violence and se

  • The CEO’s Vengeful Bride   Chapter 111 – The Woman Who Shouldn’t Exist

The office felt colder than usual. Damien stood by the window, his arms crossed as he stared at the skyline. The morning sun reflected off the Crest Tower’s glass walls, casting jagged shadows across the floor. But nothing about today felt predictable. The woman who confronted Elena yesterday claiming to be the true Montrose heir had dropped more than just a bombshell. She’d detonated something deeper…..Older. Something that now threatened to rip open everything they had built.Elena hadn’t spoken since they returned. Now, curled up on the couch in Damien’s private office, she was still in the same black coat she’d worn the night before. Her eyes were bloodshot, her hair tousled, and her knuckles white from gripping the edge of the throw pillow.“I don’t understand,” she whispered for the third time, voice thin. “She looked like me, Damien. Not just similar. She moved like me. She even had our mother’s locket. How is that possible?”Damien remained silent. He had already ordered a pri

Elena’s POVThe documents were printed on Montrose-branded parchment…..aged, embossed, undeniable. They landed on my desk like a guillotine.I stared at them in silence. My signature…..no, my mother’s signature….was there at the bottom of the final page. Alongside another name I didn’t recognize:“Cassandra Deveraux”“You said you wanted transparency,” said the woman across from me, voice smooth, eyes blazing. “So here it is.”She didn’t look like someone who belonged in a boardroom. She looked like she belonged in an oil painting. Raven-black hair fell in polished waves. Her red dress was blood-silk, expensive, and tailored like armor. And her presence….confident, electric…..was too deliberate to be ignored. She smiled at my silence, as if victory had already been claimed.“I know this is difficult to accept,” she said. “But I’m not here to steal anything. I’m here to take back what’s mine.”I blinked, slowly. “I’m sorry…..’who’ are you again?”She folded her hands on her lap. “Cassan

Elena’ POVThe dress was unrecognizable, on purpose.A sleek, backless silhouette in midnight blue clung to my body like a second skin. My hair….normally pinned and poised….fell in soft, dyed auburn waves around my face. My voice was disguised beneath a faint European accent, perfected over hours with Isabella’s help. And the glittering, black lace mask over my eyes? That was the finishing touch. This wasn’t Elena Ravenswood, co-CEO of Crest Tech, queen of boardrooms and front-page scandals. This was someone else entirely.I checked my reflection one last time in the rearview mirror of the rented black Maserati and exhaled.“I don’t like this,” Damien’s voice said through the comms in my ear, tight and low. “You’re walking into a lion’s den without backup”.“I’m not without backup,” I whispered, pressing the small transmitter beneath my collarbone. “You’re listening. You have eyes. And if anything goes wrong, you know where to send hell”.“That’s not the point”.“Then what is?”A beat

  • The CEO’s Vengeful Bride   Chapter 108 – “Empire on Fire”

Elena’s POVThe scent of fresh paint and ambition still lingered in the air when I first toured the new Crest Tech manufacturing facility three weeks ago. I remembered standing in the center of that vast floor, the hum of cutting-edge machines still in a testing phase, and thinking……we built this. Damien’s hand had been firm at my back then, steadying, reassuring.Tonight, the air was ash.Flames roared into the sky, consuming steel, glass, and pride. Black smoke curled into the stars like a curse.I stood a few feet away from the burning ruin, cold wind whipping my coat as sirens wailed in the distance and firefighters shouted orders. Damien stood beside me, his jaw rigid, fists clenched at his sides. The factory that had symbolized the new chapter of our empire was now engulfed in destruction.“Five floors. Two storage wings,” Isabelle whispered grimly, reading from the tablet she’d snatched from an emergency team member. “They’re estimating upwards of twenty million in damages. And

  • The CEO’s Vengeful Bride   Chapter 107 – The Assistant’s Rise

The boardroom buzzed with a new kind of electricity…..not the frenzy of a scandal, nor the tension of a hostile takeover, but the aftermath of a crisis teetering on the edge of control. In the absence of Elena and Damien, it was Isabelle who took the reins. She stood at the head of the glass conference table, her tablet in one hand, a pen in the other, posture rigid but voice steady. "We are not collapsing. We are recalibrating."The room of senior executives blinked at her…..most had overlooked her for years. Just the assistant. The background girl. Damien Crest's ex. Elena Montrose's personal aide. But today, she was the anchor in the storm."Our statements to the press have been updated to reflect the truth….the fire was an act of sabotage, and the investigation is ongoing," she continued. "Legal has vetted every line. There will be no more missteps."An older man across the table, Gregson from Finance, cleared his throat. "You're not the CEO, Miss Lin.""No," she replied, her eyes
