As we arrived at Avery's penthouse, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. The safety of his home brought some comfort to my frayed nerves.

Avery led me inside and immediately locked the doors and windows, checking each one thoroughly. It was clear that we were in danger, and he wasn't taking any chances.

"Bella, I need to tell you something," Avery said, his voice filled with apprehension. "I have reason to believe that someone is trying to harm us. They know about my memory loss and are using it to their advantage."

I felt my heart sink as he spoke, realizing the gravity of the situation. We both knew that our lives were in danger, and we needed to be careful if we wanted to survive.

"Who could it be?" I asked, my voice trembling with fear. "Is it Veronica and John?"

Avery shook his head. "No, it's not them. They've been trying to sabotage our relationship and take over from me, but they're not the ones behind this."
