That night we couldn’t sleep, we probably needed the rest but my stomach wouldn’t allow it, doing constant flips and I considered not going a few times. We dressed warmly and prepared ourselves for the trip as best we could.

We dressed warmly and rummaged the closet for any comfortable walking shoes. Zylith still had the boots they gave her for searching with the patrol. It was around 2 am when the call manifested in sound and light leading from my bedroom all the way into the woods.

“Are you sure we will be safe?” I asked one last time and Zylith promised it would be fine.

I wrote a small note for Cain, telling him that we were leaving to do something only we could and that we would be back. At the end, I put a small sorry and signed my name.
